About Cats of the Day

Cats of the Day celebrates one newly adopted cat every day. Each one found a home through a rescue or shelter, and each one has a story worth telling: the shy kitten who came out of her shell, the senior who waited months for the right family, the bonded pair who got to stay together.

We've featured 24 cats so far. You can see them all on the adopted cats page, and follow along on Facebook.

Where the stories come from

Rescues and shelters share their adoption news, and adopters send us their cats through our Share your cat form. We read every one, check the details, and write up one cat a day. We always credit the rescue or shelter the cat was adopted from.

Why we do it

Millions of cats go through shelters every year. Every adoption story is a reminder that rescue cats make wonderful companions, and a small thank-you to the volunteers and staff who look after them until their family arrives. If you're thinking about a cat, start with your local rescue.
