Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Slaughter Beach

Meet BLITZ — He’s Ready to Follow You Home!
Sometimes a cat makes it pretty obvious what he wants—and Blitz wants PEOPLE! ❤️
When Blitz first arrived at Forgotten Cats, he was understandably relieved to be safe, comfortable, and off the streets. Then, he took another wonderful step forward: Blitz had graduated to the free-roaming room!
And he was absolutely loving it.
Blitz enjoyed the freedom to explore, stretch his legs, and spend time with the other cats. He got along with his feline roommates and seemed quite happy having some kitty friends around.
But when visitors walk into the room, Blitz knew exactly where he wanted to be.
With you.
This affectionate boy will follow visitors around the room looking for attention, hoping for pets and companionship.

Read more about Blitz C

Stop to give him a little love, and Blitz is more than happy to soak it all up. With those enormous golden-green eyes watching you, he’s pretty hard to resist!
Of course, Blitz would prefer that when you eventually walk out the door, he gets to come with you.
He’s safe. He has friends. He’s getting plenty of love. But what Blitz still doesn’t have is the one thing he deserves most—a forever family of his very own.
Imagine this sweet little shadow following you from room to room at home, keeping you company and stopping along the way for plenty of pets. ❤️
Before coming to Forgotten Cats, Blitz had already been neutered and microchipped. Now all that’s missing is his person.
Come meet Blitz. In one photo, Millie decided to walk over to say Hello to Blitz. Please stop into our Millsboro PetSmart, and you can meet both of them!

7. Coraline

Kitten (2 months 4 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 26 mi from Slaughter Beach

Coraline's story started behind a fence, where she was found screaming for help. Somewhere along the way, humans had failed her, and she learned that hiding was the safest way to protect herself.

Since coming into our care, Coraline has made wonderful progress, but she is still learning that people can be trusted. She is a very special girl, which is why we will be extremely particular about the home we choose for her.

Read more about Coraline

Coraline needs a quiet, calm, patient home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She is not a good match for a loud or chaotic household, and her adopter must understand that trust takes time. She needs someone who will never force her, rush her, or expect her to become am affectionate lap cat overnight.

Her adopter needs to understand that earning her trust is a process. She needs someone who will see how special she is, and be committed to giving her the peaceful, secure life she deserves.

Coraline has already had humans fail her once. We are determined to make sure that never happens again.

She has already survived the hardest part. Now Coraline just needs someone willing to put in the time and work to earn her trust. The journey may take some patience, but the reward of watching her blossom and knowing she finally feels safe will be twofold.

9. Sammy

4 Months 5 Days · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 42 mi from Slaughter Beach

Update- Sammy had a long recovery but due to critical care from Susanne Hoshino, he is now available for adoption. His eye did not need to be removed but we believe he is blind in one eye. That does not stop him from interacting with the other cats and dogs in his foster home. He is very affectionate to humans.

Sammy was found by a Good Samaritan who then contacted Kindness Matters Rescue for help due to his injuries. His eye will need to be removed but he should do fine once healed. He was full of ticks and worms and was underweight but all those issues have been dressed. He will be available for adoption once he recovers.

Hi, I’m Meesha! I’m a petite young cat who became a mama when I was still a kitten myself. I’ve been through a lot, but I’m still a playful, loving girl.
I love looking out windows, playing with my mouse and ball tower, and enjoying a good meal. .
Right now, I’m looking for a safe, loving forever home where I can finally be a young cat again—play, relax, be spoiled, and feel safe indoors.

I’ve had my babies, and now it’s my turn to be loved. Will you be my forever family? ?

Adult · Female · Tabby (short coat) · 44 mi from Slaughter Beach

Please open your arms and heart to Millie. She was very scared and shutting down in our adoption center, so one of our adoption center volunteers took her home for a break. Millie is welcoming her new environment! In her foster home, she comes to life after dark. That is when she does her eating, visits to the litter box and tossing her toys around.
During the day, she is a demure little thing with the loudest purr and searching out hands to butt with her head. Once she is comfortable with you, she will curl up and snuggle by your side, glancing over every once in a while to make sure you are still there and lauding your attention on her.

Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Once you’re ready to adopt, head over to our Adoption Application to fill out and submit the form. Once our Adoption Team has reviewed and approved your application, we will give you a call to schedule an appointment with the pet! When you arrive at ACSKC, you will be greeted by our Adoption Coordinator and taken to meet the pet, either in our Meet and Greet Room or one of the play yards. If you already have pets in the home, you may be asked to bring them with you for a meet and greet to ensure they will get along in the home (this typically only applies to dogs). If you and our Adoption Coordinator feel like it is a good match, we will then finalize the paperwork and send you home with a bag of goodies, including our “Welcoming Your New Pet Home Guide,” toys, treats and a sample bag of their pet food. If it is not a good match, you are welcome to meet the other available pets in the shelter. Your approved application will be kept on file for 90 days, so you’re encouraged to take your time before making a decision!

Adopting a cat in Slaughter Beach

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
