1. Janie
Young · Female · American Shorthair / Mixed (medium coat) · 40 mi from Hardwick

Meet Janie!
Characteristics: Affectionate, Gentle, Curious, Playful, Fun
Health: Vaccinations and tests up to date, spayed, microchipped
Good in a home with other cats. She does very well in a multi-cat home.
She is still a bit shy with children, but does warm up after a few days.
Janie was caught as part of a TNR (trap, neuter, release) operation and was found to be a sweet, yet shy kitten. She survived being on her own as a community cat, but is ready to join a loving family that will give her time to adjust to a new environment while learning to trust her new forever family.
Read more about Janie
Janie is special in that she is a polydactyl kitty - both of her front paws have six toes. She is soft and fluffy and just plain adorable.
In the months that Janie has been in foster care, she has bloomed into a playful and confident little girl who loves pets, batting toys around and in particular enjoys feeding time. She is curious, independent, and full of loving potential.
Janie was a ‘community cat’, but months of socializing in a foster home with other cats has made her excellently suited for adoption. Because she is a 'community cat' there is no way for us to know for sure her age but we believe her to be around a year and a half old.

2. Austin
Young · Male · Tabby / Mixed (medium coat) · 40 mi from Hardwick

Meet Austin!
Austin is a big, loveable grey tabby who lives to be petted. He was found in May of 2026 living near a school. From his friendly demeanor and attitude, we believe he must have been somebody's cat at some time. Given the way we found him we are unsure of his age but guess he is between 2 & 3 years old.
He was already fixed and ear tipped so Austin was brought up to date on Rabies and Feline Leukemia vaccinations and is now micro chipped. Unfortunately, it was found Austin has FIV.
Read more about Austin
FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is not transferrable to humans and can only be spread thru deep biting wounds (fighting) from one infected cat to another. FIV makes cats more susceptible to infection, but living indoors minimizes those infection opportunities.
An FIV cat can live a normal life but it is best they be an inside cat with either no other cats or a home where a FIV cat already lives to reduce the risk of it being transferred to other cats.
Austin will always be happy to see you and looking for your attention. He readily allows his nails to be cut and any other grooming tasks. He uses the litter box with no issues. Other than the FIV, he is happy and healthy.
***CGCCC Special note: in 30 + years of cats, Austin takes the prize as, at first meeting, the friendliest cat we've ever found.
It will take a dedicated adopter to bring Austin into their life. If you think you can be this person please contact us for more information or fill out an adoption form at our website https://www.cgacommunitycatcoop.com/forms/
Filling out an application will allow us to go further with the adoption process and set up a meet and greet for Austin or any others of our available animals you may be interested in meeting.

3. Primrose
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 50 mi from Hardwick

Thankfully someone scooped these orphans up and made their odds ever in their favor, as they were brought to a local shelter and pulled by our rescue to bottle feed - they were in rough shape, encrusted in flea dirt, and with a respiratory infection brewing. Some meds, formula, and love and these babies are absolutely thriving little competitors. Primrose is the smallest of the crew, and while she is small she is mighty. She is posted here with her littermates for pre-adoption, as she didn't make weight for her surgery yet but will be going this week.

Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 50 mi from Hardwick

This precious girl was found at a local Walmart by one of our boys in blue and brought in to animal control at about 2 weeks old , eyes just opened and absolutely covered in fleas. She was bottle raised, and is now learning to play with other kitties her age. Wallie is a social and curious girl who loves to play and get all the attention. 8. Corona
Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 50 mi from Hardwick

This dynamic duo was found by a local resident at about a week old, mama didn’t make it back to them, so they reached out to the community for help and the babies made their way to us to be bottle raised. Around the time they would have been born, there was a solar eclipse happening, so they were named Eclipse and Corona. Corona is the blue girl, reminiscent of the lighter halo visible around the eclipsed sun. They are extremely playful, and are either found bouncing wildly around and wrestling, or snuggled up to nap and recharge for the next play session. Corona is probably the slightly more outgoing of the two, she’s always at the front of the line investigating whether you’re here to shower her with love or food.

Around the time they would have been born, there was a solar eclipse happening, so they were named Eclipse and Corona. Eclipse is the solid black boy resembling total darkness during an eclipse. 10. Beckham
Kitten · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 50 mi from Hardwick

Beckham is one lucky little dude who might have used one of his nine lives already just trying to survive. He was found one night in the middle of the road near a soccer complex at about 5 weeks old, eyes crusted shut, unable to see the cars whizzing. Thankfully one of our own was one of those cars, and she was able to get turned around and scoop him up before he got hit. Once he recovered and started to hold his eyes open, we could see that one eye was back to normal but the other had severely swollen conjunctiva, where we couldn’t even yet see the eye. Antibiotic drops and blood serum have healed it remarkably, and while there will always be cloudiness in that eye, it is evident he still has some useful vision that was preserved.

Adopting a cat in Hardwick
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
