1. Svengoolie
Meet Svengoolie!
He may look a little rough around the edges, but this Svengoolie is not scary at all! This sweet orange tabby boy has had a rough start in life. For his first two years, he endured a hoarding situation. His disposition shows that he must have received plenty of love, but his body condition shows that there was likely not enough food to go around. Sven is looking for a home where he will be able to count on having enough food at each meal to help him put on a little weight and develop a shiny, healthy coat of fur. He has a healthy appetite and is good with his litter box, and should thrive in a home environment.
Read more about Svengoolie
Sven just arrived at our cat center and started out very shy, hiding behind his blankets. As soon as he realized he was safe, he allowed himself to soak up all of the love our volunteers have to give. Sven comes out of his hiding spot as soon as we open his condo door. He leans his head into hands for pets, and immediately starts making biscuits and purring. He is one of those cats that likes to make sure that you are petting him with both hands!
Given his background, Sven needs a quiet home where he will be able to settle in at his own pace. He would likely do well with another cat in the home, but at this time dogs and young kids would be too much for him. He does give an occasional love bite when you are petting him, so his adopters should know how to gently redirect. We rescued him from his previous situation, but you can save him by giving him the loving home that he deserves.

Benji's personal motto is "go with the flow". He is ready to play and is just as eager to lounge around. Benji was found outside with a bite wound on his tail which told us he wasn't rough and tumble enough to hang with the street cats anymore. His adjustment to his life indoors went off without a hitch. He is highly adaptable and quickly warms up to new people. This friendly and afffectionate boy will not hesitate to meow or headbutt you softly for pets. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with this sweet boy and reciprocates by allowing belly rugs and chin scratches.

10. Kernel
Hi my name is Kernel! I was found all alone in a corn field after the corn had been cut down. A helpful person took me to animal control and from there I found my foster family. Ever since I popped up- I have been an a-maize-ing houseguest. Kernel is friendly and playful! An all around purrfect kitty with so much love and affection for his people. He loves to cuddle up on your lap and is a sucker for belly rubs. He is a young cat - around 16 weeks old and he needs another friendly cat waiting for him at his new home --or adopt a second available cat at the same time to keep him entertained! Kernel is a beautiful buff tabby and his little cherub face just melts your heart. He loves to play with all kinds of toys - and he even has a little catnip plush corn that he will bring with him to his forever home!
Read more about Kernel
We encourage you to consider adopting kittens in pairs! There are several reasons why
Kernel
would do good with a friend, including:
-Two kittens keep each other entertained - they will play and get all their energy out on each other in time for snuggles with you!
-Having two kittens to play with each other prevents "I'm lonely and bored" behavioral issues.
-Watching two kittens wrestle is quite possibly the cutest thing you will ever see.
-The kittens will teach each other "how to cat" and learn to be more social with humans and people.
-You'll save two lives instead of one!
Kernel
is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations,
neutered
, and litter box trained.
Kernel
's adoption fee is $165. Please note A.R.F. does not approve applications for any kitten under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.

11. Lexi
Lexi will be at the Darien Petsmart adoption event Saturday, October 31st from 11-2.
Fostered in a home with siblings, Alice and Ethel.

Lexi was born into her fosters home from a feral pregnant cat they took in. Mom is all vetted and is now part of the foster's family. As much as they would have loved to keep all of the kittens, of course that was not possible. Now Lexi is ready to find her forever home She is very playful and has a gentle soul. Can be clingy always wanting to be on or next to you. She is just now being introduced to other cats in the foster home and is doing well but honestly I think she would do fine as an only cat that can soak up all of your attention.

Ethel will be at the Darien Petsmart adoption event Saturday, October 31st from 11-2.
Ethel is fostered with her siblings Lexi and Alice.
Ethel's foster mom took in a pregnant stray cat and had her babies in the fosters' safe environment. The foster vetted the mom and she now has a permanent place in their family home. As much as they would have loved to keep all of the kittens, of course that was not possible. So now Ethel is looking for HER forever family and home. She would likely thrive better as an only cat in the home or be adopted with a sibling.

I am part Abyssinian and have long legs, a extra long tail and larger than average size ears! I am an intelligent and inquisitive girl. I enjoy being around people and enjoy a good snuggle on a lap! I am a great Mom according to everyone in my "foster" family. I enjoy playing with wand toys. I am a super jumper due to my long legs. Right now I DONT like hanging out with other cats. That could change once I am not so "hormonal". You could take me and one of my beautiful babies home ! ❤️

This helps to ensure a great match with you and your family. In order to get the process going, would you kindly fill out our detailed online application located here: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/11683/generic Completing our online application does not commit you to adopt from our rescue. Rather it helps us to understand your requirements and match you with the best possible cat or kitten. Once you complete the application and it is approved, we can set up a meet and greet and if all works out, you may bring the kittens or cats home the same day. Please make sure to bring an adequately sized pet carrier with you to your meet and greet. We recommend a pet carrier which opens from the top as this is the easiest way to place a cat inside a carrier. If you do decide to adopt, we do expect you to take home your cat the same day as there are so many cats and kittens which need to be rescued from high kill shelters, we almost always rescue a new cat or kitten the very next day. Adopting a cat in Lombard
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
