2. Casper

Kitten · Male · Siamese · 16 mi from Skokie

Casper is a breathtaking lynx point Siamese with striking blue eyes, a soft cream-colored coat, and a gentle soul that is still learning how wonderful life can be. While he may not be the type of cat who immediately jumps into your lap, Casper has a quiet charm that draws people in. He loves being near his people, keeping them company with his calm, persistent presence, and watching the world go by from a cozy spot on the couch or a sunny window perch.Casper is looking for a calm, child-free home with patient, understanding adults who can appreciate him for exactly who he is. Rescued from a feral colony, he has made incredible progress with his socialization and continues to blossom every day.

Read more about Casper

He would thrive with an adopter who understands cat behavior and/or has experience helping socialize shy cats to help them build confidence. Casper is not a fan of being picked up or handled roughly, and he prefers to move at his own pace when it comes to affection. He absolutely loves other cats and would prefer to have a feline companion in his forever home. If possible, he would be thrilled to be adopted with his beloved mom and best friend, Flower. One thing Casper never hesitates about is playtime! Wand toys, balls, catnip-filled toys—if it moves, there's a good chance Casper wants to chase it. He can often be found calling out to the resident cats in his foster home, inviting them to join him for a game. He also loves climbing cat trees and keeping an eye on everything from above. Although he is still learning to trust human touch, he has made remarkable strides. He now enjoys gentle pets and has even flopped over for belly scratches from a back scratcher, which remains one of his favorite ways to connect with people. A back scratcher will be a wonderful tool for helping his future family continue building trust and strengthening their bond with him.Casper's journey hasn't been easy, but his progress is a testament to his resilience and willingness to learn to trust. He is curious about people, often approaching for a sniff and wanting to be part of whatever is happening around him. While it takes him time to fully warm up and accept touch from new people, every small victory feels incredibly rewarding. With patience, compassion, and a feline friend by his side, Casper will continue to grow into the wonderful companion he's meant to be.If you're the kind of person who understands that trust is earned and that the deepest bonds are sometimes built slowly, Casper may be the perfect addition to your family. Watching this handsome boy gain confidence and discover how loved he truly is will be a gift unlike any other!WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL LOCATION AS WE ARE A FOSTER-BASED ORGANIZATION. 3. Cinnezac

Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 16 mi from Skokie

Cinnezac - or Cinnie - is the smart one in the pack. From the day she was abandonned, sick and filthy, in Southern Illinois to her leisure days at the foster home, Cinnie was able to make sure that she and her brother Oatmeal would have a better life. Cinnie is the first of her crew (brother and 4 others) to figure things out. New toys, new food bowls, new people. And she's the smart one to alert her foster mom that bowls need to be filled, toys need to be retrieved, or litter needs to be cleaned. She will lead her foster mom to the situation she wants addressed. She's the Lassie of her crew. She cuddles on her own terms - with humans or animals - but she is a social cuddler.

Read more about Cinnezac

She will join you on the sofa for tv, for work, or for sleep. Usually, she is willing to be part of the cat nap pile, but she also sees a pile as tine that she can get her foster mom to herself, especially for head and back scritches. She gets along well with other cats, young and old, sometimes cuddling with the resident senior. She has been good playing with young children, but she isn't as willing to be cradled as her mates so might be better with older children. Cinnie has not been tested with dogs but has been a curious watcher from the window. As she isn't a fearful cat, she would, most likely, do fine in a hone with dogs. While the most independent of her crew, Cinnie is a young cat and needs a playful mate, especially for hide, seek, and pounce. I am at The Cat House in Roselle come meet me at my new location! Make sure to make and appointment ahead of time! https://www.thecathouselounge.com/ Apply in advance to get preapproved! If you're going in alphabetical order you have met Iggy's sisters, Guppy and Howdi. And while Iggy loves playing with them, and spending every waking (and many sleeping) moment with them, she would probably want me to let you know that she's the sophisticated one. That's not to say that she doesn't love a good sprint across the room at full speed and around a corner, or tackling Guppy and trying to take the feather wand for herself, but sometimes you catch her just looking thoughtful.

Read more about Iggy

Like she's figuring it all out. And honestly I kind of think she is.Iggy loves people and knows how to get whatever she wants from them. She purrs at even getting close to being pet, climbing up and right into your personal bubble. She's a bit more of a cuddler than her sisters, sometimes content to watch them play for a bit while she relaxes and soaks up human attention. And when it comes to toys she's a very effective hunter. In one of her videos you'll see a small blue scratcher with a few blue toy mice dangling from it...and two of them are missing. Iggy maintains her innocense but we're pretty sure we know what's up. She works smarter, not harder. She also knows she's still wee enough to fit under the dresser, and that's where her big sisters always lose their toys. And now they're all hers.Skills include: - Tightrope shenanigans - First to use the cat tree to jump onto the dresser - Boldest stripesSince Iggy is so used to people we think she could do well in a home with polite young children. She's never met a dog so we're not sure there.Iggy would need to be adopted with her bonded sister Guppy. Once he finally wears himself out, though, this energetic little guy turns into the cuddliest baby and is more than happy to snuggle up and go to sleep.Knuckles has been surrounded by people, animals, hugs, and kisses, and he loves being part of the action. He would do well in all kinds of households, including a home with respectful children who will enjoy playing with him and showering him with affection. If you're looking for a kitty who will greet you with head bumps, keep you entertained with his playful antics, curl up beside you when the day is done, and make you fall completely in love with his sweet face, Knuckles is ready to be your newest family member. 29. Shuri

Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 16 mi from Skokie

Meet Shuri & Ling Ling – A Perfect Pair of House Panthers What’s better than one sleek black cat? Two. And this bonded mother-son duo is pure magic together. Shuri, the delicate “soot sprite,” and Ling Ling, her bold little velvet shadow, balance each other in the most beautiful way. Their story began on the streets, where Shuri was still just a kitten herself when she became pregnant and did everything she could to protect her baby in dangerous circumstances. For a long time, they only had each other. Now safe in foster care, they’re ready to find a forever home — together. Shuri thrives in a calm environment and needs a patient adopter who understands she is still learning to trust human affection.

Read more about Shuri

She is a young, timid girl who has been through a lot, and while she can be playful with her baby, she is more reserved with people at first. She may hide when meeting new people or children, but she has been gentle and patient. She has also been exposed to other cats and, while timid initially, has had no issues — as long as she has her Ling Ling by her side. Ling Ling, on the other hand, is wonderful with kids, loves humans and animals alike, and would fit in just about anywhere — but he must go to his forever home with his mama Shuri, whom he loves deeply and always protects. These two are a bonded pair and truly need each other to thrive.Ling Ling is the brave protector and the social butterfly of the duo. A silky-soft “lap panther” who could easily be mistaken for a blanket, he lives for attention. He’s first in line at mealtime, first to greet you for “lovins,” and first to launch into joyful zoomies across the room. He loves chasing the little bug-on-a-string toy and does the most dramatic “Halloween cat” pose while stalking his prey — it’s absolutely hilarious. After playtime, he’s a professional sunbather, often found belly-up in a warm beam of light. And when it’s time to rest? Straight to your lap. He shows his mama every day that laps are for napping and humans are for cuddling.Shuri is the quiet, steady love in this pair. She’s curious but cautious — watching you carefully before gathering the courage to join in. Once she does, she melts into chin scratches and ear rubs, offering sweet little chirps and a gentle presence that feels incredibly special. She’s a total wet food connoisseur and 100% Churu motivated — bring out a treat tube and you’ve officially passed her vibe check. She’s still discovering toys and zoomies for herself, slowly realizing that she’s allowed to be playful, too. Underneath her timid exterior is a loving young cat who just needs someone kind enough to show her the world is safe.Ling Ling gives Shuri confidence. Shuri gives Ling Ling steady devotion. Together, they are the perfect balance of playful energy and gentle affection. If you have room in your heart and home for two beautiful house panthers — one bold and silly, one tender and blossoming — Shuri and Ling Ling are ready to bring double the love into your life. Adopting a kitten in Skokie

Kittens usually go to their new homes from about eight weeks old, once they're eating on their own and have had their first vaccinations. Most rescues spay or neuter them before adoption, or include it in the fee.

Think about adopting two. Kittens raised together play with each other instead of your ankles and furniture, and many rescues charge less for a pair.

Kittens need more of your time than grown cats: several small meals a day, plenty of play, and a home with cords and small objects tidied away.
