Kitten (5 months 12 days) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 48 mi from Portland

Harold - Male DOB 4/29/2026 Domestic Medium Hair - Brown and White Tabby- *Meet Harold — 6 Months of Fluff, Fun, and Full Send* Harold is not a cat. Harold is an adventure in a medium-hair tabby-and-white coat. At 6 months old, Harold is 90% explorer, 10% cuddlebug, and 100% convinced your house is a jungle gym built specifically for him. Closets to investigate? He's in. High shelves to conquer? Already there. That mysterious crinkle behind the couch? He will solve the case. This boy loves to play. Wand toys, crinkle balls, mice — all great. But springs? SPRINGS are his soulmate. He will boing-boing-boing a little spring toy all over the house for hours, chirping, pouncing, doing those sideways kitten hops that make you laugh out loud. You will find springs in places you didn't know existed. Harold is friendly, people-loving, and sweet — he does like to check in for pets and short snuggle breaks between expeditions. Because he's a young, active, playful guy, Harold is looking for an active home with another playful cat to wrestle and zoom with. He has way too much kitten energy to be an only cat — he needs a buddy to burn it off with, and to cuddle up with when it's finally nap time. If you want a fun, funny, curious, toy-obsessed sidekick who will make every day more entertaining, Harold is your guy. Harold is fine with respectful children. To our knowledge he has not had experience with dogs. Apply for Harold today; he won't be around for long!

Ida B. Wells - Female DOB 6/15/2025 Domestic Short Hair - Black and White- *Meet Ida B. Wells — Quiet Courage, Gentle Heart*

Ida B. Wells is a 1-year-old tuxedo girl who wears her perfect black-and-white suit like she means business, but her heart is pure softness.

Ida is gentle through and through. She’s not the wild, knock-everything-off-the-shelf kind of cat. She plays — oh, she does love her toys — but sweetly, politely, never rough. Think delicate pounces, dainty bat-taps, and then a proud little trot back to you.

She’s curled nearby or on your lap, keeping you company. She wants to be where you are, part of your day, your little shadow in a tuxedo.

She’s independent enough to entertain herself, but she truly blossoms with gentle companionship. Ida would be happy with another gentle, respectful cat who appreciates soft play and quiet cuddle time.

Ida B. Wells is past the crazy kitten stage and right in that perfect young-adult sweet spot — playful, loving, calm, and ready to settle into a real home.

6. Frankie

Senior (12 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 97 mi from Portland

Frankie is a sweet, affectionate neutered male cat that’s been through a lot and is looking for his long-deserved home. He was abandoned a few years ago and had to fend for himself on the streets, where we believe he became FIV+. Despite this, he is super friendly and loves humans. He’s estimated to be 10 years old and is up to date on vaccinations. Here’s what his foster volunteer says about him:

Read more about Frankie

How would you describe the cat's general personality?
Frankie is the definition of a lap cat. He is an A+ snuggler and loves being pet. While he is very social, he is not at all overwhelming. He is a gentle presence with an incredible purr.
Does the cat enjoy being pet?

Yes, he loves being pet.

If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?

He prefers his cheeks, head, and back.

Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?

Not that I've noticed.

Does the cat come on your lap?

Yes, he enjoys sitting in laps and he loves laying on your chest if you're laying down.

Does the cat like to be held?

He doesn't mind it, but it doesn't seem to be his favorite thing.

Does the cat sleep in your bed?

Yes, he does. He will lay on your chest while you're sleeping or lay next to you throughout the night.

Does the cat seek your attention?

Definitely, but not in an annoying way. He can definitely "read the room" -- he'll seek attention when you're sitting or relaxing.

Does the cat like to play?

Yes, but it's not as high on the list as snuggling.

What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

He will bat around a mouse on a string, but isn't super playful.

How vocal is the cat?

He is not very vocal; he might do a quiet "chirrup" when he enters a room you're in, but otherwise very quiet.

What kinds of sounds does the cat make?

Does the cat scratch a scratcher?
If no, please explain.

Not that I've seen, but I have been encouraging it.

Does the cat always use the litter box?
If no, please explain.

Yes, he always uses the litter box.

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?

He eats Fancy Feast seafood (wet food) 3x a day. No dry food and no treats.

Is the cat picky about food?

No, he inhales his food in about 10 seconds.

What is the cat's favorite treat?

I haven't given him any treats as the instruction was to stick to wet Fancy Feast.

What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered?

N/A.

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?

Only one time when he just arrived and was overwhelmed. After the first day, never!

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?

No

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?

No

Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?
No
To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?

He is slightly cautious, but warms up very quickly.

If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on?

I haven't observed him with other animals.

Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?
He takes laying on top of any horizontal person very seriously.
In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?
If you want a gentle, snuggly cat with a relaxing purr, Frankie is your guy. He'll keep you warm on long winter nights and make sure you're never watching TV alone.
What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?

He will try to eat food that's left out overnight (even if it's wrapped in packaging). Keep all food in cabinets, and you're good to go!

7. Lyra and Celestial

Kitten (4 months 27 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 48 mi from Portland

Lyra - Female DOB 5/21/2026 Domestic Short Hair - Black- *Meet Lyra — Little House Panther, Big Personality!*

Lyra is a sleek, shiny black kitten with the cutest tiny meow and the zoomies to match.

This girl is all about the good things in life: WAND TOYS, playing, and eating — not necessarily in that order. Wave a wand toy and Lyra turns into an Olympic gymnast: leaping, twirling, pouncing with perfect form. She plays hard, eats like she earned it, and then looks up at you like, "Again?"

Read more about Lyra and Celestial

Lyra is a happy, busy, classic kitten — curious about everything and always in on the action. But her secret soft side? She is a total snuggle bug _with another cat_. After all that playing, she wants to curl up in a cozy pile, tucked in next to a feline friend, purring away.

Because she loves feline company so much, Lyra would love to go home with a buddy, or to a home that already has a friendly, playful cat who will wrestle with her and then be her nap buddy. She would match with her sister, Celestial, who is also available for adoption.

If you're looking for a playful little shadow who will keep you entertained and then melt into a cuddle puddle — with you and with her cat friend — Lyra is ready to sing her way right into your heart.

Celestial - Female DOB 5/21/2026 Domestic Short Hair - Black and White- *Meet Celestial — 5 Months Old and Out of This World*

You asked the universe for the perfect kitten? Here she is. Celestial is a 5-month-old tuxedo kitten and she wears her little black-and-white suit like she’s ready for a fancy dinner party — which she is, as long as you’re serving Churu and feather toys.

Read more about Celestial and Lyra

Celestial is EVERYTHING you want in a tuxie kitten. Sweet, silly, spicy, snuggly. One minute she’s doing parkour off your couch, the next she’s melted into your lap making biscuits and purring so loud you can feel it. She’s curious about everything, scared of nothing, and has that classic tuxedo catitude — smart, chatty, opinionated, and very, very loving. She will follow you around like a tiny supervisor, help you work (by sitting directly on your keyboard), and greet you at the door like you’ve been gone for years even if you just took the trash out.

Because she’s still a baby, Celestial needs to go home with or to another playful cat. Celestial enjoys the company of her sister, Lyra and they would make an excellent pair. She would fit into any household. She is good with other cats and fine with children. To our knowledge, Celestial does not have experience with dogs.

Spit-fire. Adventurous. Tiny man with BIG opinions and he WILL be sharing them with you.

Kachi is a male black kitten with a lightning bolt for a tail — literally. That little zig-zag tail wags when he's plotting his next adventure, which is always.

Cats? Yeah, he's cool with them. People? People are THE BEST. Kachi is looking for a best friend, not just an owner. He wants to be part of your whole life — your couch, your bed, your Zoom calls, your everything.

Fair warning: this little man is all talk at first. He's growly when he meets other kitties, like a ferocious little lion who forgot he's 2 lbs. Give him a slow intro and 3-4 days to realize the other cat is not, in fact, trying to steal his entire kingdom. After that? He's totally fine. Just a dramatic entrance.

If you want a shadow, a sidekick, a tiny supervisor with a lightning-bolt tail and a lot to say — Kachi is your guy. Kachi will need to go home with or to another playful cat.

1. How would you describe the cat's general personality?

Read more about Puck

Puck is a quiet, curious, cool and playful little "hunter" and will become more and more social and people-oriented over time. He loves chasing toys, jumping, watching the outdoors, and observing everything around him. He enjoys being part of whatever is going on and likes to grab all your attention. But he is cool, and still prefers companionship on his own terms and does not always want to be touched.

2. Does the cat enjoy being pet?

Yes. Puck barely come over and ask for pets, but if you gently reach out and some time, he will let you pet his head.

Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?

Definitely NOT his rump.

He frequently sleeps on our bed now that every morning we wake up and will see him lying next to us, maybe having a good dream (really really cute).

YES.

What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

Lucy - Female DOB 8/10/2021 Domestic Short Hair - Brown/White Tabby

Meet Lucy! This sweet girl found herself in a southern shelter after her owner had to move into a nursing home. Confused, scared, and facing an uncertain future, Lucy was very close to being euthanized before she was given a second chance.

Read more about Lucy

Lucy is a gentle, friendly girl, with big golden eyes, who can be a little shy at first. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys getting pets and attention from her people and will reward you with her sweet, quiet companionship. After everything she's been through, Lucy would love a home where she can finally feel safe, settled, and truly loved.

Lucy would be happiest as your one-and-only pet. She does not enjoy the company of other cats and would prefer not to share her home with a dog. Older, respectful children who understand that cats sometimes need their own space may be a good fit for her.

A quieter home with a calm, predictable routine would be ideal for Lucy. She would love a cozy bed, a sunny window to watch the world outside, and a person who is willing to give her the time and patience she needs to settle in and feel secure. And we discovered that is you softly sing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" to her, it relaxes her and she rolls on her side...

21. Jonesy

Adult (9 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 76 mi from Portland

Hi, I’m Jonesy. ❤️

I may be a little shy when we first meet, but underneath that cautious exterior is a very sweet girl who truly loves people. Once I feel comfortable, I’m happiest when my humans are nearby. I’ll look for you, enjoy your attention, and simply be happy knowing I have someone to call my own.

I’m a senior lady, and at this stage of my life, I’m not looking for anything complicated. I’m looking for a quiet, peaceful home where I can settle in, feel safe, and be loved. A soft place to nap, a kind person to keep me company, and a little patience while I find my confidence would mean the world to me.

Read more about Jonesy

I think I could do well with respectful children who understand that an older girl like me may need a little time to warm up. I would prefer to be the only pet in the home, without dogs or cats, so I can enjoy all the attention myself.

I’ve got so much love left to give. I just need someone willing to see past my initial shyness and give a sweet senior girl the chance to spend her golden years knowing what it feels like to truly belong. Maybe that someone is you.

22. Meenie and Mynie

Young (11 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 97 mi from Portland

Meenie and Myne are a bonded pair of one year old spayed female cats, up to date on their vaccinations. They must be adopted together. Here’s what their foster volunteers say about them:

Read more about Meenie and Mynie

How would you describe the cat's general personality? Meenie and Mynie are two bonded sisters who are still learning to trust people. Mynie is more shy and prefers to observe rather than directly engage, while Meenie is her braver protective sister who helps Mynie find the confidence to explore. They are both curious young cats who get along great with other pets. While both are pretty shy, they have made some significant progress during their time living with us.

Does the cat enjoy being pet? Meenie doesn't seek out pets, but she'll accept pets from us from her cat tower. Recently, she started closing her eyes when receiving pets to show she's enjoying it. Her shyer sister Mynie does not yet accept pets from us.
If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? We usually pet Meenie on the top of her head, behind her ears, and behind her neck.
Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? No particular area that we have noticed.
Does the cat come on your lap? No, their favorite spot is perched up on their cat tower or in cat huts, relaxing or sleeping.
Does the cat like to be held? We haven’t tried to pick Meenie or Mynie up, but we don’t think they are ready for that yet.
Does the cat sleep in your bed? We’ve only recently started letting Meenie and Mynie out of their foster room to explore the house, and they haven’t tried to sleep in our bed so far.
Does the cat seek your attention? Not actively, but Meenie allows us to come up to her and pet her and feed her Churu treats. Mynie, being more shy, has been mostly hands-off so far.

Does the cat like to play? Yes. While they don’t play in front of us, they have a bunch of toys in their room that we can tell are getting used.
What are the cat's favorite games and toys? The toys they have access to include spring toys, balls, wand toys, and stuffed animals.

How vocal is the cat? Neither of these cats are vocal and all, and we have never heard them meow! You wouldn’t need to worry about them waking you up or causing noise complaints.

Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes, we can see that all of the scratchers in their room have gotten a lot of use.
Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, neither cat have ever had an accident with us.

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Meenie and Mynie receive around a quarter cup of IAMS kitten dry food in the morning. We give them each one can of Fancy Feast wet kitten food at night.
Is the cat picky about food? No, they are both great eaters!

What is the cat's favorite treat?

Both Meenie and Mynie will enjoy Churu treats out of our hands. It took longer for Mynie to accept treats than her more confident sister, but feeding these girls treats is the best way to bond with them.

What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered? Neither cat is on any medication.

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Meenie has never swatted us. Mynie will often hiss if we try to pet her, followed by a swat if we continue. She is still not comfortable receiving pets.
Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Once, when my wife tried to pet her, Mynie caused a shallow scratch on her finger. My wife had mistaken her for Meenie, who accepts pets easily. With Mynie, we go in for pets slowly to see whether she is willing to receive them.
Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No, neither Meenie nor Mynie has ever nipped us.
Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, neither cat has ever bitten us.

To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? We had a pet sitter stop by when we were on vacation. He told us that Meenie and Mynie mostly hid from him, but they did not sho

23. Bean & Momo

Young (11 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 97 mi from Portland

Bean and Momo are a 1-year-old bonded sister and brother, up to date on vaccinations WHO MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. Here’s what their foster volunteers say about them:

How would you describe the cats' general personalities?
Bean and Momo balance each other out wonderfully. Bean is quieter and more polite, while Momo is the rambunctious, adventurous, and slightly bratty brother. Both are shy and skittish with humans initially, but curious and motivated by food/treats. Bean is slightly more approachable for gentle pets if approached slowly, while Momo loves being near the action, lounging on the couch just out of reach, and playing.

Read more about Bean & Momo

Do the cats enjoy being pet?
They are both learning to enjoy pets as they build trust. Bean warms up and purrs (with an oddly deep purr for a tiny cat) when relaxed. Momo has recently accepted pets down his back or head/eyebrow scritches, especially when relaxed near another cat or distracted by treats, though he can still be hesitant with approaching hands.

If yes, on what parts of their bodies do they like to be pet?
Bean likes pets on her face, head, and back (along with occasional chin/chest scratches). Momo enjoys scritches on the back of his head, eyebrows, and down his back.

Are there any parts of their bodies that they do NOT like being touched?
Neither likes sudden movements or being grabbed. Bean will sometimes dart off with a full-body pet. Momo is protective of his personal space when cornered or startled and prefers light, respectful touches.

Do the cats come on your lap?
Both will crawl onto your lap for high-value treats (like Greenies or Churus), but they usually move away once the treats are gone.

Do the cats like to be held?
No. Neither cat likes being picked up or held; Bean kicks to escape after a few seconds, and Momo gets distressed.

Do the cats sleep in your bed?
They are generally kept in a separate room overnight due to young-cat nighttime zoomies. During the day, Bean occasionally naps in the bed if the sun is right, and Momo will venture onto the bed if he thinks everyone is asleep.

Do the cats seek your attention?
They seek attention primarily around routine treat times! Momo will run over and look up at you on the couch for evening snacks. Bean tag-alongs quietly with her brother and other resident cats.

Do the cats like to play?
Absolutely! They love playing together—chasing each other around the house, tag-teaming rolling toys, and wrestling. They both enjoy laser pointers, feather wands, fake rodents, springs, and electric toys.

What are their favorite games, toys, and scratchers?
Laser pointers, plastic springs, feather wands, coir and cardboard scratchers, and playing chase with each other.

How vocal are the cats and what sounds do they make?
Very quiet overall. Bean squeaks sadly when everyone is asleep and she wants to play. Momo will occasionally make soft whines if separated or bored. Neither meows frequently.

Do the cats always use the litter box?
Yes, 100% reliable! However, both are extremely vigorous diggers, so high-walled litter boxes and a good vacuum are recommended.

What food, frequency, and treats do they enjoy?
They eat scheduled breakfast and dinner meals wet/dry food without being picky. Greenies and Churus are their absolute favorite treats (Momo also loves cooked chicken, though he gets possessive with it!). Bean eats patiently, while Momo can be more eager.

Have either of the cats shown swatting, scratching, or biting behaviors?

Bean:
Extremely gentle and peaceful. She has never scratched, bitten, or attacked anyone (except playful wrestling with Momo). She accepts treats very softly, occasionally taking a gentle nibble if fingers smell like treat dust.

Momo:
Was defensive/swatty when he first arrived, but has improved significantly with socialization training. He now swats much less (mainly if cornered or startled), usually with claws retracted or just trying to reach a treat. He has never bitten or broken skin.

24. Chazzy & Ollie

Adult (10 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 97 mi from Portland

Backstory:

Chazzy and Ollie are a gentle, bonded pair of 9-year-old brothers who are looking for a calm, loving forever home to spend their golden years. These handsome boys (Ollie sports a subtle white patch while Chazzy is solid black) joined Black Cat Rescue after losing their longtime owner, and they have been working hard to decompress in their foster home. While they are quite shy with new people, they are sweet-natured gentlemen who find immense comfort in each other’s presence and are slowly learning that the world is a safe, kind place.

Read more about Chazzy & Ollie

Almost 10 years ago Chazzy and Ollie were trapped outside along with their two sisters. The litter was on their own and getting a little too old (6 months or so) to compete with younger, more socialized kittens that year. The amazing woman who rescued them while working to help all of the cats in her community, decided to adopt all four of them. Sadly, Chazzy, Ollie and their sisters recently lost their lifelong person. Chazzy and Ollie are now looking for another amazing person to take a chance on two shy guys.

How would you describe the cat's general personality?

Chazzy and Ollie are very calm, enjoying each other's company in a quiet home. They prefer to stay in their hiding nooks when humans are around, but are slowly showing more personality in foster care as they play with each other when left to themselves. They have great manners in eating and using the litter box, and do not mind being pet every so often.

Does the cat enjoy being pet?

Chazzy and Ollie do not mind being pet, but they do not seek it out either. They will let their foster pet them from inside their cat tree and like being rewarded with treats!

If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?

For now, they have mostly been getting pets on their backs and across their body, though they have also begun to warm up to scritches near their neck as well.

Does the cat come on your lap?

No

Does the cat like to be held?

No

Does the cat sleep in your bed?

No (they have a separate room)

Does the cat seek your attention?

No – Chazzy and Ollie mainly stay to themselves, but with patience, they are slowly becoming more curious about humans. They will pop out of their hiding holes and sit in the room to observe their foster care volunteer from a distance.

Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

Chazzy and Ollie like to play with little mouse and ball toys by themselves, and the toys are often thrown about in various places from day to day. They do not play as much with their foster, and are not particularly interested in interactive games like string toys.

How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make?

Both cats are not super vocal and have not meowed much.

Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain.

Neither cat has clawed at any furniture. They have a scratching post available to them, but their foster volunteer has not witnessed them use it.

Does the cat always use the litter box?

Chazzy and Ollie are great at using the litter box consistently and have great litter box manners.

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food? What is the cat's favorite treat?

Chazzy and Ollie require a specific prescription urinary diet to stay healthy, and both boys eat Rx urinary care diet to avoid urinary blockages. They have one can of wet food every day – half in the morning and half at night. They also free feed kibble and treats each day as well. Both have been very good about eating and drinking water consistently.

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?

No

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?

No.

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?

No.

Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?

No.

She has plenty of energy and loves having room to run, explore, and play. After she's burned off some energy, she's more than happy to settle in for pets, cuddles, and quality time with her family. Fiji would probably be happiest being your one and only feline getting all of your attention. Misty - Female DOB 5/4/2024 Domestic Short Hair - Gray and Brown Torbie

Misty is a gentle, sweet-natured girl who is looking for a quiet home where she can truly shine. She can be a little shy when meeting new people and will need a little time to settle in, but once she feels safe, her affectionate personality begins to blossom. She enjoys gentle pets and attention—on her terms—and will happily soak up your love when she's ready.

Misty is looking to be the queen of her castle and would be happiest as the only pet in the home. She isn't interested in sharing her space with other cats, dogs, or young children. Instead, she dreams of a calm, predictable environment where she can relax, build a close bond with her person, and enjoy all the love and attention for herself.

One of Misty's favorite things is stretching out in a sunny window, watching the birds and the world go by while feeling safe and content indoors. She even enjoys watching bird TV if you don't have any outside for her to watch. 27. Gin Gin

Young (10 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 76 mi from Portland

Gin Gin is a beautiful 8-month-old girl with a gentle soul and a heart that's just waiting to bloom. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, beneath that quiet exterior is a very sweet and affectionate kitten who simply needs a little time to feel safe.

Once Gin Gin settles into her new surroundings and learns to trust, her loving personality begins to shine. She enjoys affection and companionship, and while it's still too soon to know whether she'll become a full-time lap cat, we have a feeling she may continue to surprise us as her confidence grows.

Read more about Gin Gin

Gin Gin takes great comfort in the company of other cats and would thrive in a home with at least one friendly feline companion. Having another cat around helps her feel secure and gives her a role model as she adjusts to new situations.

Her ideal home would be a calm, quiet environment with patient adopters who understand that some cats need a little extra time to come out of their shells. Older children who can respect her space and allow her to approach on her own terms would be a wonderful fit.

While she hasn't met dogs yet, we believe she would likely do well with a calm, respectful dog who would give her the time she needs to adjust.

Gin Gin may not be the cat who rushes to greet you at the door on day one, but for the person willing to be patient, the reward will be watching a shy kitten blossom into a devoted companion. If you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and perhaps a feline friend waiting for a new buddy, Gin Gin may be the perfect addition to your family.

30. Snuggles

Adult (5 years 5 months) · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 48 mi from Portland

Snuggles - Male DOB 4/6/2021 Domestic Long Hair - Brown Tabby with White

Snuggles is a big personality wrapped up in a fluffy coat! Handsome, curious, and full of personality, this fun-loving guy knows how to keep things interesting. We have been told that he may have some Maine Coon in his family tree, which would certainly explain his fluffy good looks and larger-than-life personality!

Read more about Snuggles

Snuggles is always ready for fun and can't quite decide which hobby is his favorite. Is it batting at a wand toy, chasing a plastic spring, or showing off his scratching skills? He enjoys them all! He also likes the company of other cats and would love a feline friend who is up for some playful wrestling and chasing.

He likes his humans too, although despite his name, Snuggles isn't really a "pick me up and cuddle me" kind of guy. He's more of a "scratch me on the head and I'll be your friend" kind of cat. He's not particularly vocal, but he has his own funny ways of communicating. If he's feeling playful—or occasionally if something is annoying him—he may reach out with a quick paw toward your leg. Because he can be a little particular about how he communicates, Snuggles would do best with an experienced, cat-savvy person who understands feline body language and can recognize and respect his signals.

Snuggles may need a little time to settle into his new home before his true personality comes shining through. Once he's comfortable, he'll show you just how much fun he can be. He would do best in a quieter home without children or dogs, where he can relax, play, and enjoy the company of his people and feline friends.

If you're looking for a handsome, fluffy guy with a big personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of opinions, Snuggles might just be your perfect match!

Adopting a cat in Portland

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
