6. Mouse
Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 7 mi from Minneapolis

Hi, I’m Mouse, a 2-year-old zoomie king looking for my forever home!My name is Mouse but my foster mom calls me Danger Mouse as I’m a playful beast who’s never met a toy I didn’t like! I like to hide in small Amazon boxes, steal hair ties and beat them around the house, and chase after bouncy balls. Wand toys are my ultimate desire and I will drop everything to chase them around. I’m a healthy guy with no medical needs and I’m a master at keeping my litter box clean! I’m also a total foodie and will make my hunger known in the morning and evening. Potential adopters, beware of me around human food.
Read more about Mouse
I am very curious and a TSA-level sniffer. I’ve never met a stranger! I welcome anyone into the house so long as they play with me. I’m affectionate and love to lay on my foster mom’s chest and rub my head against her face! Head scratches make me purr and drool!I’m high energy and love to play hard. I’m still a teenager and am working on my manners and I can be a bit nippy. It’s just my way of signaling that I want to play! I’ve never hissed or bitten out of aggression though. When my foster mom works from home, I sit on her laptop and rub my head against hers or give little hand nibbles to indicate it’s play time. I currently live with one foster parent in a one bedroom apartment. I love looking out the windows and seeing the world! I love my human friends, but I’m not a fan of other cats. I like having all the attention on me and would love a human friend who can give me lots of playtime! I may not be the best fit for someone who can’t be around to give me a lot of attention or someone who doesn’t have much cat experience, because I run on a bit of an unpredictable schedule. I would love to have human playmates, but any children should be a bit older and understand how to respect my boundaries. If you’re looking for a playful feline friend to add to your home, I just might be your guy!— — —There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. Her favorite place to nap is on the printer next to the window. She may snore a little when she is napping — but don’t tell anyone! In new environments she may take a moment to settle in, but once she feels safe, her true personality shines — warm, loving, and eager to connect with her humans. She’s the kind of kitten who quietly observes first, then blossoms into a sweet, confident companion. Zinnia adores being combed, getting pets, and curling up on a good lap. When she and her foster crew get the run of the house, she often chooses a cuddle session with her foster mom before heading off to explore and play. She’s not very vocal; instead, she communicates through soft purrs and face nuzzles.

Her affection is gentle and intentional — she’ll lean in and melt into you for every scratch and pet she can get. She’s not loud or demanding; she’s just quietly sweet, making you feel genuinely chosen.Zinnia’s energy level is wonderfully balanced. She’s past the wild kitten phase and is generally a chill girl, but bring out a wand toy and her fierce little hunter side comes alive! She loves window‐watching and interactive toys that give her the exercise and mental stimulation she enjoyed as an outdoor kitten. After playtime, she’s quick to settle into a cozy spot — or snuggle up beside you for more affection.Zinnia currently lives with her foster mom, three foster kittens (age 5-6 months), three resident cats (ages 1, 1.5, and 6 years) in a single-family home with ample space and lots of windows. She does beautifully with her fellow foster crew and her three kitty uncles. Her ideal home would offer sunny windows, cozy lounging spots, and humans who are around often to enjoy her affectionate nature. Because she’s still young, she’d thrive with at least one playful, friendly cat companion; she’d be thrilled to go home with her sister Dahlia or her twin foster brothers, Henry and James. She should do well with respectful children age 5+ who understand kitten boundaries, and her experience with dogs is unknown. With a little patience as she adjusts to a new space, Zinnia blossoms into an incredibly sweet, easygoing, and loving companion. She’s ready to bring warmth, charm, gentle affection and a little spunk to her forever home! For more photos and videos, feel free to visit Zinnia's foster mom's Instagram page: @Tempurrary_Insanity.-----There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. 18. Gwendolyn
Young · Female · Siamese · 7 mi from Minneapolis

Princess Gwennie is a quiet, reserved, six-month-old girl looking for a calm home to finish gaining her confidence (aka wings). In return, she will reward you by being your 24/7 devoted shadow. This beautiful girl is a quiet cat who is content with a morning and evening rough-and-tumble with her siblings and then, if the dog isn’t around, she will happily lie down close to you for pets. She’s as soft as silk–so it’s truly a therapy session for her human, too! While a quiet observer to the commotion of the house, when the crazies strike, this princess fluffball can wrestle other cats like the star of a WWE show (truly, it shocks me every time, because she’s normally so demure!).

She has a lovely, lustrous coat…to keep her feeling her freshest and best at the litterbox, it’s helpful to give her bum fur a light trim from time to time.A pretty chill gal, Gwendolyn currently lives with her 3 kitty siblings, 2 rabbits, 4 cats, 1 German shepherd, and two adult humans (one male, one female). This gorgeous gal should go to a home with loving, patient people who are happy to encourage Gwendolyn to bloom into her best self, at her own pace. If you don’t already have a calm, friendly kitty at home that she can bond with, she’d love to go home as a “two-fer” with her littermate Ed or Penelope. Buttermilk is an energetic young guy looking for his forever home!Buttermilk loves humans, playtime and food (in that order)! He is a sweet, energetic companion to anyone that wants to meet him. He loves being pet, chasing string toys, and waiting for dinner time. Buttermilk’s toys of choice are little mouse toys and string toys. He loves to hunt and is laser focused on his “prey”! On that note, he also is quite fond of bird watching. Buttermilk may appreciate a nice window where he can sit by and keep tabs on what’s going on outside.Buttermilk currently lives in a house with 2 humans and 2 other cats.

He would love a home where he can roam and play. He is a perfect litterbox user, but adopters should be aware he loves to dig so a deep litterbox would be ideal. An adopter should be able to play a bit with him every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes here and there. He loves when his human friends help him play by pulling string toys! He does get along with other cats and may like to have another friendly cat buddy to run and play with. If he is adopted with another cat, the cat should be young and confident. Buttermilk is pretty good with reading cat cues, but can come in a little bit hot with his investigation in the beginning! If you’re looking for a friendly cat ready to bring some extra fun to your home, Buttermilk is your boy!— — —There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. (While annoyed with you in the moment, he does accept his temporary relocation.)Ed is still gaining his footing around the adult cats in the home so, slow introductions are a must to other felines…super-chill cats only, please.I think he’d love a calm dog for a buddy in his forever home, as he enjoys our crazy girl, after coming into the home unsure about canines at first.Ed is a curious guy who needs mental stimulation to keep him happy and free of boredom. 25. Mochi
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Minneapolis

About Me Meet Mochi, a playful black kitten with a curious spirit and a knack for making you smile. Mochi’s favorite spot is his window hammock, where he’ll watch the world go by—or the TV—while keeping you company from a comfortable distance. He’s an “aloof admirer,” preferring his space but always nearby, ready to greet you at the door or curl up for a nap if you let him.Mochi loves his food and isn’t shy about letting you know when it’s mealtime—expect adorable meows and gentle leg rubs. He’s a fan of fuzzy balls and will even play fetch, bringing them back for another round. Cardboard boxes, paper bags, and matchbox cars are all fair game for his bursts of kitten energy, and he’ll zoom up the back of the couch to his hammock when the mood strikes. He’s litter box and scratching post trained, and while he hasn’t met other cats or dogs yet, he’s been comfortable around new people and gets along well with a lively 10-year-old.
Read more about Mochi
Mochi’s past as a stray means he’s extra curious about the outdoors, often sitting by the screen door to watch what’s happening outside.Mochi is currently in a “play biting” phase—he sometimes nibbles when he wants to play, but this seems to be a kitten stage and hasn’t been an issue with others in the family. He’s not a fan of car rides or vacuums, but he’ll happily chase a broom if you’re sweeping. If you’re looking for a fun, independent companion who’ll keep you entertained and always be close by, Mochi might be your perfect match. Apply to meet him and see if he’s the new friend your family’s been waiting for!----------WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? 26. Miss Violet
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 7 mi from Minneapolis

Miss Violet is a 1-year-old, affectionate and playful young cat looking for her forever home!Miss Violet is a sweet and playful girl who has really blossomed in her foster home! She loves attention and is very affectionate with her people — expect purring, kneading, rolling over, and any other ways she can show her love! She is also curious and playful and loves to explore her surroundings. She enjoys active play, exploring, climbing, and zooming around the house, but she also loves settling down for pets and affection. She would do best with people who will give her regular opportunities for interactive play and exploration, followed by plenty of quiet time and attention.Miss Violet has a particularly sweet habit of looking to her person for reassurance when something is unfamiliar.
Read more about Miss Violet
Once she realizes that everything is okay, she is quick to settle back in and continue exploring. She has gone from a very frightened cat who hid in her shelter cage to a confident little companion who happily explores the house, plays, and seeks out affection. She can still be cautious when something is new, especially unfamiliar sounds, people, or cats, so she does best when she is allowed to approach new experiences at her own pace. With patience, she has shown that she can form strong bonds and become an incredibly loving companion. Miss Violet has an old, healed fracture on her left femoral neck. She has excellent mobility in her foster home and jumps and climbs with no obvious limp or limitations. Currently, she does not require special accommodations for the leg.Miss Violet currently lives in a house with two adults and two other cats. She has gradually progressed from spending most of her time in her foster room to confidently exploring and spending time throughout the home. Miss Violet's ideal home is one where her people will give her a little time and patience as she gets comfortable with her new surroundings. She would do best with adopters who understand that a cat may behave more cautiously during the first few days or weeks in a new home than she does once she feels secure. Once Miss Violet feels safe, she is affectionate, playful, curious, and eager to be part of her person's life. She would thrive with someone who enjoys interactive play, gives her plenty of affection, and will let her build confidence at her own pace. Miss Violet may be able to live happily with another cat, but introductions should be slow and carefully managed. Because she can initially be cautious or defensive around unfamiliar cats, a home with a calm, cat-savvy resident cat would likely be the best match. A patient adopter who is willing to let her set the pace during introductions would be ideal. Miss Violet is looking for a loving new home that will allow her to continue her journey from a frightened and cautious young girl to an incredibly affectionate and loving companion! Her foster family has watched her transform from hiding and freezing to exploring the entire house, playing, seeking affection, and happily interacting with her people. If you’re looking for a sweet and affectionate new friend in your life, Miss Violet just might be the girl for you!— — —There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. 27. Hemi
Young (1 year 3 months) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 24 mi from Minneapolis

Hemi is a friendly young guy who loves people, and he's not shy about letting them know it. He's easygoing, social, and happy to play, with a soft spot for toys he can bat around and chase. He's also polydactyl, which means he has extra toes, so his paws are even cuter than average.
His story starts a little differently. Hemi came to us as part of a trap, neuter, and return rescue, where community cats are trapped, cared for, and released back outside. Hemi had other ideas. He was far too friendly to go back, so he was set on a different path: life as an indoor family cat. He gets along well with cats and kids, so he'd fit right in with a full household.
Hemi has already shown he's ready for a home with people who love him. Add him to your family by submitting an adoption application.

How to adopt from The Rescue Crew, Inc
Adoption applications must be completed, which include information regarding references and vet clinic information, DL #, names, etc. Reference checks are conducted and when necessary vetting information verified. Discussion about the animal interested in to best assure appropriate and proper placement is made, and educational information regarding how to manage a multi-dog/animal household, slow and proper introductions and the importance of a shut-down period to help the animal acclimate to new surroundings. A "meet and greet" with the animal is required and whenever possible all residents of the household should be present. Home checks may, but not always, be necessary. After adoption applications is approved a contract is required, where we also stipulate that if for any reason the adopter determines they no longer want or can care for the animal we require it be returned to us, with the exception of documented bite history or potentially dangerous or dangerous dog designations. Adoption fees vary, but are comparable to or less than other local rescues and typically are $300 or less for a canine and $150 for a feline.

Adopting a cat in Minneapolis
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
