Meet Emmy, aka Emmy Lou Who, aka Boo Boo!Our girl Emmy is making GREAT progress with her new medicine to help with her overgrooming. Her beautiful hair is slowly but surely growing back! She's ready to find her forever home… and yes, I’m already crying about it.And if you look closely, you’ll notice one of Emmy’s extra-special features — she’s polydactyl! She has extra toes and an extra helping of adorable!Emmy’s story is one of those that makes you wonder how she ever ended up in a pound in the first place. She was set to be euthanized at a local pound, so we snatched her up and brought her home.

Little did Iwe know… she was pregnant! She went on to have her babies, The E Crew, and was an AMAZING mama. She took such good care of them, and even after they were weaned and ready to move on, she would hang out at their kennels just to play with them. All of her babies have now found their forever homes, and now it's Emmy’s turn.Emmy is a lot of sweet with just a little sass. And honestly… LOOK AT HER! She deserves to be a little sassy! She tolerates the other cats in the house, and they’ve learned her boundaries. If one gets a little too close, she’ll give them a gentle little reminder. LOL!For Emmy, we’re looking for a home that would be:A home that understands her personality and will love her for exactly who she is.No young childrenNo dogsNo kittensShe may do well with another cat, especially one who is calm and respectful of personal space. She isn’t necessarily looking for a feline best friend who is constantly in her business—a cat who isn’t too nosy, pushy, or overly interested in her would likely be the best match. With a little patience and the right personality, she may be perfectly happy sharing her home with another cat.She has come such a long way, and watching her heal and grow back her beautiful coat has been incredibly rewarding. Now we just need to find the right forever family for this sweet, sassy girl.Emmy takes a daily medication to help manage her overgrooming. Her medication is administered directly onto her ear, making it a simple and easy part of her daily routine. Staying consistent with her medication is important in helping keep her comfortable and reducing her overgrooming. And, of course, Emmy’s favorite part of her medication protocol is the Churu reward afterward! It’s a great way to make her daily routine a positive experience. Emmy Lou Who is ready for her happily ever after.

10. Finch
Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 51 mi from Columbia

Finch is one of the biggest kitties in his litter, and he certainly knows it! This playful boy loves to wrestle with his siblings and make sure everyone knows who’s in charge of the fun. But when Finch decides he’s had enough sibling shenanigans, he’s more than happy to leave them behind and spend some quality time with his favorite human.
Read more about Finch

Clearly, Finch believes his humans should always be aware of where he is...and ready to give him pets!
When playtime is over, Finch is happy to settle in for a cozy cat nap with his human. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who loves being the center of attention and would make a wonderful addition to a family. Finch does great with kids and other cats. His compatibility with dogs is currently unknown.

11. Moochie
Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 86 mi from Columbia

Moochie — Ready to Retire from Being a Dresser Cat Moochie spent much of his life as a community cat. Then he disappeared. He wasn't seen for about a month, and when he finally showed up again, the people who knew him thought he was dying. They took him to their local animal control, Heartland was contacted, and Moochie came into our care. He was skinny. His fur was yellow. He was depressed and just seemed to have given up.Once he was with us, we discovered he also had cat lice. His coat was in such terrible condition that off it came—Moochie was shaved completely naked. And so began the recovery of one very sad, very naked cat.
Read more about Moochie
Then We Found Something ElseAt the vet, an ear mass was discovered.Moochie was treated for everything else he had going on while we continued to monitor his ear. Eventually, the mass was removed and sent for pathology. We got the news we were hoping for: it was a benign ear polyp. Because of where the polyp was located, not all of the tissue could be reached and removed from his ear canal. There is a chance it could grow back in the future, so his adopter will need to continue monitoring his ear. The Dresser CatWhen Moochie first came into foster care, his world was a crate on top of a dresser. And honestly? We thought he might be perfectly content to live out his life right there.Moochie didn't want to be touched. He didn't want to be moved. After everything he had been through, his crate was safe, and he seemed to want nothing more than to be left alone in it.So we let Moochie be Moochie. And then, little by little, something changed. He started accepting pets. Then he started wanting pets.He began moving around more. He became interested in what was happening outside of his little space. The cat who once wanted nothing more than to stay safely tucked away in his crate started showing us that maybe he wasn't finished after all.Moochie turned into a real cat. Now he's active. He's up. He's moving around. He enjoys attention and absolutely loves being petted.Being picked up? Ehhh...Moochie would prefer that we keep that to a minimum. Four paws on the ground, please. And we think he's finally ready to retire from being a dresser cat. What Moochie Is Looking ForMoochie doesn't need a busy household or a ton of excitement. After the life he's had, simple sounds pretty wonderful. No small children No dogs He may be okay with another calm cat who will mostly leave him alone He would probably be happiest as an only cat He needs someone who will respect his boundaries and let affection happen on his termsMoochie came to us looking like a cat who had given up.For a while, we thought giving him a safe crate, good food, medical care and a soft place to rest might simply be enough.Moochie decided otherwise. He wants pets. He wants to move around. He wants to be part of things. And now this former community cat—and longtime dresser cat—is ready for something we weren't sure he'd ever want:A home of his very own and a soft place to spend the rest of his life.

With the right family, Aris will reward you with endless love, affection, and plenty of sweet kitty conversations. Could you be the one to give this special boy the forever home he deserves?

20. Haley
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 86 mi from Columbia

Haley was living outside a Golden Corral restaurant in South County STL. Poor thing was freezing cold and looking for warmth anywhere she could find. We knew we had to help her so a good friend of ours who does TNR caught her and brought her home until we could make space. Turns out, Haley was a colony cat that had been TNR'd a year prior but her colony was miles away from where she was found. How she ended up there, we will never know.Haley had a pretty severe tail injury that was infected, so it had to be amputated and now she has a little bob tail. She's very sweet, but cautious and shy at first.
Read more about Haley
Who can blame her... I'm sure she had to be that way to survive on the streets. Haley needs a quiet home where she can feel safe and loved. Someone who understands cats and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to acclimate and build trust. Once she gets to know you, she's quite affectionate and friendly but does startle easily and will hide if she feels overwhelmed. She enjoys head and ear scratches, and will bump her head against your hand when she's really happy. She's come a long way since being rescued and is learning that humans can be nice and receiving affection is a good thing. She's not fond of being pet near her rear end because of her injury, and does not like to be held. She loves canned food and treats and will come running when she hears it. Haley is okay with other cats as long as they respect her space and aren't too bossy or dominant. Not sure about dogs but no children please.
