8. Tasha
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Meet Tasha — a little girl who has been through far more than any cat should have to endure, and somehow came through it still believing that people are wonderful. When Tasha arrived at the shelter, she was suffering from bladder stones that had likely been causing her pain and discomfort for months. She also had a severe, untreated urinary tract infection that was likely responsible for the stones forming in the first place. Despite feeling absolutely miserable, Tasha was nothing but sweet. The shelter staff fell in love with her and advocated hard to get her the help she desperately needed. We brought Tasha into rescue and were able to get her into surgery just a couple of days later.
Read more about Tasha
Fourteen bladder stones were removed, and her bladder was filled with pus from the infection. Unfortunately, her troubles weren't quite over. Five days after her first surgery, her bladder sutures failed to hold, causing a life-threatening complication that required an emergency second surgery. Tasha came frighteningly close to losing her life. But this little girl is a fighter. It has now been two weeks since her second surgery, and Tasha is doing wonderfully. She is healed, happy, comfortable, and no longer experiencing the pain that had been her normal for so long. She is now on a special prescription diet to help prevent future bladder stones, and we are committed to keeping her healthy and giving her the happy life she deserves. And what does Tasha think about all of this? Mostly, she thinks people should be paying attention to her. This girl LOVES butt scritches and will happily roll over and over again to make sure you don't stop. She adores attention and affection, and despite everything she's been through, she has remained one of the sweetest cats you could ever meet.Tasha didn't get the easy start she deserved. She spent months hurting, survived two major surgeries, and came terrifyingly close to dying. Now she's ready for the part of her story she has been waiting for: a loving forever home where she can finally be spoiled, comfortable, and adored. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate girl who will happily trade endless butt scritches for endless love, Tasha may be your girl.Adoption fee of $120 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, FIV/FeLV testing, and flea preventionApply here: https://2pawsup.org/applications/adoption-application/

12. Spunky & Hurricane
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby (short coat)

Courtesy Post
Read more about Spunky & Hurricane
Spunky (mom) and her son Hurricane came into care in mid-July, 2026. Spunky had shown up on her foster parents porch as a starving kitten in May, 2026. She was so small, no one imagined that she had kittens until she was spayed 5/29/26. She was released to her home territory following her surgery and continued to come for meals at the foster yard until a rain storm in July drove the little family to a neighbor’s porch. Spunky and her three kittens were captured and moved inside. Despite living outside for a long period, Spunky was never feral. The foster parents have been able to assemble a team of volunteers to help handle the kittens so they are also social.
Hurricane is a brown tabby male who looks just like his mother. He has always been very attached to her. This attachment was evident even when he had two siblings with which to play. The siblings have gone on to successful adoptions in the past few weeks. It is our opinion that Spunky and Hurricane should remain together.
Spunky and Hurricane live with 4 other cats and get along well with everyone. Their favorite place to be is on a cat tree looking out on the woods where they used to live but they have not tried to leave the house at all. They play with each other and with a very active 3 year old cat in the foster home. Favorite toys include a laser pen, springs, and small catnip mice. It’s been really fun to see Spunky enjoy toys that she probably never experienced before.
Neither Spunky nor Hurricane are particularly cuddly but they like to be in the same space with their foster parents. If she weren’t named Spunky early in her rescue, she would be named Perfection. She truly is the perfect cat! She is quiet, keeps a regular schedule, uses the litter box perfectly and took wonderful care of her kittens. Hurricane is a wonderfully playful youngster who enjoys toys, the scratching posts, climbing furniture and sleeping on any item of clothing that is left on the bed. Both are addicted to catnip and will roll around with any item that contains it.
If you are looking for a pair of young cats with whom to share your space, these two are a great choice. They are calm, attached to humans that they know, and really easy to care for. They eat and spend the night in the bathroom they have always used. They spend their days in the house with the other cats playing chase and napping. Although they have not been exposed to children or dogs, they are calm enough that these should not be a problem.
Both Spunky and Hurricane are fully vaccinated, spay/neutered, microchipped and ready for adoption.
They are located in Greensboro NC.

13. Willow
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Willow is one of Mary Ashburn's friendliest "Spirit" kitties. She is about 5-8 years old and needs a soft place to land since Mary passed away last month. Please consider giving Willow safe and secure senior years. Mary had a heart for the animals that others overlooked or gave up on. Every animal that came into LPAH’s care was loved deeply by her. At Lending Paws a Hand, Inc. ’s shelter facility, Mary had spirit cats. Spirit Cats are not for everyone, but they are very special cats for some. They are very shy with people. They live in your home, but are rarely seen – especially by visitors. They are cats who live with you, and who may bond deeply with you or only just grant you the opportunity to touch them…or not. We are now faced with the hard decision on where to relocate Mary’s spirit cats The cats all get along with other cats, are older, and some will come up for a pet now and again. They have all lived indoors, therefore, we would not recommend a “barn cat” scenario for them unless you’re willing to still feed them everyday and not expect them to hunt. You can learn more about spirit cats here: https://lpah.org/spirit-cats/

29. Pepperoni
Kitten (3 months 9 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Pepperoni lives up to his name! He loves to eat and is working hard to maintain his rotund shape! Pepperoni is VERY friendly. He LOVES to be held and will just flop in your hands, lap, arms, or wherever he can cuddle. You can hold out your arms and he will run straight to you to be picked up! Pepperoni is a playful kitten and needs a buddy to do kitteny things with. When ordering (adopting) Pepperoni, another topping (sibling) can be included; like his sister Pepper.

30. Pepper
Kitten (3 months 16 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Pepper is all sweetness and no spice! She is a very friendly kitten and has never met a stranger. Pepper is like a little puppy and will follow you everywhere. You can have your very own shadow! Better yet, Pepper is a big helper and will always be near in case you need anything while brushing your teeth, washing your face, or choosing your outfit for the day. Pepper is also a talented sous chef! She is always there to help with preparing her meals and to provide assistance as needed. Another one of Pepper's many talents is purring! She has the loudest PURR and will start purring as soon as she sees you. Pepper is most content just being close to you. Please give this adorable kitten a chance! Unfortunately, because of the color of her fur, she has a harder time getting adopted. Trust me. After meeting her, you will be wrapped around her paw!

Adopting a cat in Durham County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
