3. Main
Kitten · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (long coat)

From her foster "MEET MAIN — A LITTLE MAMA WHO DESERVES A MAIN STREET OF HER OWN!Her name is Main. Her story started on Main Street. But the place she belongs is in YOUR heart. Beautiful MAIN is a young black-and-white, medium-haired kitty who was found on Main Street in Wilkesboro with her two kittens. And this wasn't a family we could simply leave to fend for themselves. They were holding up along a very busy section of Main Street, putting this little mama and her babies in tremendous danger. So Main and her kittens became a rescue priority. But here's the thing about Main…SHE WAS BARELY MORE THAN A KITTEN HERSELF.
Read more about Main
This young girl had already become a mother before she had really gotten the chance to be a baby. When Main first entered rescue, she was painfully thin. Fortunately, this little girl has discovered one of life's greatest pleasures: FOOD! Main has a wonderfully healthy appetite and is steadily putting on the weight she desperately needed. With regular meals, safety and plenty of love, she's beginning to show us who she really is. And WHO SHE IS… is pretty darn wonderful. Main is EXTREMELY SWEET and affectionate. She has a lovely, gentle disposition and genuinely enjoys being around people. But don't let her mama status fool you—she's still a young kitty herself! She loves to play with toys and is ready to experience all the fun things she missed while growing up far too quickly. Now her kittens are vetted. Main is vetted. And this little family is ready for their next chapter. MAIN IS FULLY VETTED: Spayed Distemper vaccinated Rabies vaccinated FeLV/FIV negative Microchipped Treated for fleas Treated for intestinal parasites Main would be a wonderful addition to so many different kinds of homes. She would likely be happy in a home with children and/or other cats, but she could also be perfectly content being the only kitty in an adult-only home. After everything this little girl has been through, what she deserves now is simple:A safe home. A full food bowl. A few toys. A soft place to sleep. And someone who will love her for the sweet, beautiful girl she is. From a dangerous stretch of Main Street Wilkesboro…to the safety of rescue…NOW MAIN IS LOOKING FOR THE STREET SHE'LL NEVER HAVE TO LEAVE — HER FOREVER HOME."Kittens may appear older in person, pictures are typically updated monthly

6. Oscar
Young (1 year) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat)

Oscar was found trapped in a garbage bend. He had been there for awhile because you see all his bones. Since being in rescue he has gained his weight back and made himself right at home. He loves sleeping on my bed and being rubbed. I don’t think his former home ever played with him because he was confused by cat toys. He is gorgeous medium hair blue cat with the most mesmerizing yellow eyes. He is tall and sleek…could have been a super model. Although he is ok with my other cats I think he would prefer to be the only one. He gets a little bossy with my older cats but really liked the foster kitten Presley. He has been completely vetted and combo tested negative. He is believed to be around 1-2 yrs old.

15. Maya
Young (11 months) · Female · Tuxedo / Mixed (short coat)

Maya was born into a feral community in our neighborhood. When she was 8 months old, I was able to capture her after realizing she was blind. She only weighed 4 and a half pounds at that time. She has been with us for about 2 months. During this time, she has had her left eye removed, has been spayed, and now weighs a little over 6 pounds. She has very little sight in her right eye.

However, Maya is amazing. She has mapped my entire house using just touch, sound, and her whiskers. She does not like to be picked up or carried because it disorients her but loves to be on the chair with you and to be petted, sometimes sitting in your lap. She knows exactly where her food, water, and litter are. She has never gone outside of her litter box. She loves to play with toys. I have several that either smell of catnip or make noise so she can easily find them. She is a beautiful black and white cat with a very loving nature. She gets along well with my dogs, even playing with them. She is very gentle and has not scratched me in play. She has scratched me when I pick her up because it confuses her. She is so smart and is so happy for all she has been through. Just a wonderful cat.

Presley is a beautiful kitten born in our rescue. Her mom was rescued from the euthanasia list at the shelter before her birth. She is spunky, curious and extremely outgoing. Adopting a cat in Wilkes County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
