By Cats of the Day · Updated

Stanly County Humane Society, Inc in Albemarle, NC has 24 cats and kittens up for adoption. Here are all 24, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 15 kittens, 5 young cats, 3 adults and 1 senior.
1. Charlotte
Senior (12 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Char/Meck Animal Control was notified by a couple that a cat had shown up at their house. She was scanned for a microchip that came back to the SCHS...from 2015! Unregistered, we have CHARLOTTE back and have caught her up on her vetting. She is a total sweetheart: calm, friendly, but with not many teeth. This, however, does not stop her from eating and she enjoys her meals. She is also four-paw declawed, but doesn't hold that against us. She will make a wonderful lap cat!
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. You may complete an application to start the adoption process at www.stanlycountyhumanesociety.org, under the 'Adoption' tab. Like us on facebook at Stanly County Humane Society Cats. 2. Shy
Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

SHY and his siblings showed up at a local home back in June with their mama. While the residents knew they couldn’t keep them, they also couldn’t turn their backs. They fed and cared for them until the SCHS could finally take them in. Shy was nervous upon intake, but has really progressed. He enjoys the catio, and visiting with and getting affection from volunteers. He does great with other cats and is sure to be a good lap warmer.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 10. Hedgewig
Kitten (3 months 1 day) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

HEDGEWIG’s mom was apparently hit by a car; the homeowner found her babies in the ditch. It was touch and go for Hedgewig because it was discovered the kittens had hookworms. With care from a vet and a great foster mom, this little guy has made a wonderful recovery. He’s playful, energetic and enjoying all there is to being a goofy kitten. He's a snuggle bug and enjoys other cats. Please submit an adoption application at

All are a little shy right now with a new environment, but it will take no time at all to get them over the hump. 14. Zahli
Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

ZAHLI was diagnosed with Glaucoma in her right eye. While vets hoped to wait until she was a little bigger to remove it, it was on the verge of rupturing so surgery was done. One of the SCHS' great foster moms stepped up to care for Zahli through her recovery and now she's ready for her forever home. This easygoing, affectionate girl loves other cats, dogs and people. She enjoys being carried around like the princess that she is and she sleeps with her foster parents at night.

Kitten (3 months 29 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

A litter of kittens was found in a sealed cardboard box in a local neighborhood. Thankfully, a resident saw the box move. None the worse for wear, these babies are sweet, calm and love attention. GLENDALE is the epitome of kitten lovin's. Give or get, both are good with him. He loves to be held and play in your hair. He's wonderful. Please submit an adoption application at

Pretty ELPHABA was found sealed in a box with five younger kittens. Thankfully, a neighbor saw the box move. This girl is social, healthy and affectionate. She loves lovin's and will make a super pet inside a home with people who will not discard her like trash. The SCHS is in the process of squeezing in the other kittens. Updates to come.

17. Velvet
Adult (1 year 5 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

VELVET has been with the SCHS since she was a kitten. She was adopted and returned, and the only way we can explain why is because she's all-things quirky. She enjoys sitting on top of our stackable washer/dryer, to zoom around playing with the most minute piece of litter (or nothing at all), to chew on most things plastic, to sit on your lap for lovin's, and to help you with your homework, paperwork, etc. She doesn't like to be snuck up on, to be held a long time or to have other cats get all up in her face. AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! She's so much fun and a real bright spot in the cat room. Let's find the perfect quirky home for her!
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit.

18. Zelda
Kitten (4 months 17 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

ZELDA was found as a lone stray, as so many kittens are. She’s a sweet baby that initially had a kitty cold, but is now feeling fine. She’s a quiet, go-with-the-flow little thing that would very much benefit from lots of TLC in her forever home. The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. Submit an adoption application at stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get approved. 19. Cinder
Adult (1 year 4 months) · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat)

Beautiful CINDER came in as a timid stray kitten. She was adopted a few months later, but recently returned because she was still hiding. Her adopter thinks she needs a quieter home and we agree. Cinder needs someone who has the time to work with her socially. That simply means closing bedroom and bathroom doors when not in use (so she has fewer places to hide), playing with her and handling her a lot. Regular brushing is a good way to connect. She really is a sweet girl and does love people.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 20. Blakely
Kitten (4 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

BLAKELY was born to a feral mama but wandered up to a home, possibly in search of food. Happy to oblige, the homeowner was able to catch her and bring her to the SCHS.
Her initially shy personality has transformed and so did her coat! When so much white grew in, we thought she was a salmiak cat. However, her white has faded, although she has retained some. Blakely loves to get affection and, once she relaxes, she's wonderful. She would do great with a cat buddy or two.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 21. Feleena
Kitten (6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

FELEENA was found at a local restaurant. Semi-feral, she was so sick that she let her finders pick her up. She had an injured leg, a kink in her tail, one eye was sealed shut, her ear tips had been chewed off and she had rattled breathing. This little fighter thankfully responded so well to medications and food. She spent three weeks in foster care where she became better socialized. Feleena LOVES other cats and would want one in her forever home. She has made great progress socially and has the best purr.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 22. Bonita
Kitten (6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

BONITA and nine others were born at the home of a local resident that the SCHS has been helping. Soon, all of his cats will have been fixed...mission accomplished. These babies have been socialized and handled, and are actually doing well in a strange environment. Some are laid-back, some are nappers and some are gymnasts, but all love to run and play. Bonita is a confident girl. She’s discovering toys and likes to play with her siblings. The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 23. Maisey, Max and Milo
Young (10 months) · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

COURTESY POST! FOR ADOPTION! When a stray mama gave birth to these three less than a year ago, it was always Henry's intention to find them homes. He's taken great care of them; all have been fixed, vaccinated and ear tipped, and are litter-trained. Fast forward through work days and family life...MAX, MAISEY and MILO are semi-feral and need a barn or an adopter willing to continue their socialization. They currently live in a catio. Let's help both Henry and these beautiful cats. Give him a call at 980-365-7568 for more information.

24. Sassy
Adult (1 year 10 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

SASSY was an outdoor neighborhood cat when a resident noticed she was pregnant. She was taken in and gave birth to three mini-me kittens. Initially, skittish, she has come a long way. Loud noises or actions may still make her nervous, but she’s otherwise calm and will benefit greatly by living in a quiet home and getting lots of lovin's. She has a great maternal instinct and enjoys getting attention. The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming.
