Stone County Humane Society Inc.: 12 Cats and Kittens for Adoption
By Cats of the Day · Updated

Stone County Humane Society Inc. in Mountain View, AR has 12 cats and kittens up for adoption. Here are all 12, each with photos, their story and how to get in touch.
Right now that's 3 kittens, 4 young cats and 5 adults.
1. Coal
Young (1 year 4 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Coal is used to being in a quiet space and is a little freaked out with all of the sounds of the shelter. He will run from you at first but he likes pets so he always comes back if you move slow and talk sweet to him. He prefers for people to get down and hold their hand out to him for inspection before he will allow pets, just to make sure it is safe. He came to us with a friend and possible sibling Miss Kitty. They are VERY close and it would be wonderful if they could be adopted together, but it is not required. Coal is very sweet and will make a wonderful kitty for a calm, more quiet home.

2. Miss Kitty
Young (1 year 5 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Miss Kitty is a character! She is super sweet and very vocal. She will run from you at first and talk herself (out loud) into not being afraid and will come back for pets. She prefers for people to get down and hold their hand out to her for inspection before she will allow pets...she is a Queen! She loves belly rubs and being outside. She came to us with a friend and possible sibling Coal. They are VERY close and it would be wonderful if they could be adopted together, but it is not required.

3. Lovey
Adult (2 years 1 month) · Female · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Lovey showed up as a stray and the owner cared for her until she developed breathing problems from the dander and could not keep her. She has been both indoors and outdoors. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly and very receptive to human interaction. She is litter box trained and good with other cats. She is more on the laid back side.

4. Pocket
Adult (1 year 7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Pocket came to us from a home that just had too many cats. She had calicivirus as a kitten and as a result her right eye is cloudy. This doesn't appear to slow her down any or bother her. We know that she is good with other cats and has been both inside and outside. Pocket is also litterbox trained and spayed. She is a petite little thing and is as sweet as can be!

5. Zeppelin
Young (1 year 1 month) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat)

Zeppelin is such a handsome young man and he has a charming personality to match. He is affectionate and gentle but often runs from people when they first approach...he comes back for pets once he realizes you aren't a threat though. Zeppelin has only ever been outdoors and mostly stays on our catio, but ventures inside when he is hungry or wants a comfy place to rest. He would do best as an indoor/outdoor kitty.

6. Joey
Young (1 year 2 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Little Joey is such an easy-going, calm and gentle soul. He has only been outdoors but is doing pretty well in the shelter setting and really enjoys being out on our catio. Joey gets along with other felines as well as dogs and would probably do well with kids. He loves to be held and may even make a good lap cat.

7. Sasha
Adult (2 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Sasha has big, beautiful Golden-green eyes. That is the first thing you notice about her. Then you see that she is a petite little thing and extremely friendly. Sasha loves people and snuggles - she is a lap cat for sure! She came to us from a home with too many cats, but she received a lot of good care in the home. She is very good with other cats but is not a fan of dogs. Sasha is litter box trained and has only been inside. She will make a great pet for any home looking to spoil a deserving kitty.

8. Jazzy
Adult (7 years 2 months) · Male · Maine Coon / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Jazzy wandered into a store in downtown Mountain View asking for help. He had fleas really bad and had developed flea dermatitis, which has healed now. He was also very skinny. We think he is part Maine Coon due to his size and face shape - he is a BIG BOY! He is also gorgeous with his green eyes and white fur. He does require an indoor home due to the fact that he is de-clawed on all four paws (so sad!). He is a little stand offish at first in new environments but warms up pretty quick. He does let you know if you are petting him and he doesn't like it or doesn't want to be petted. He has a big CAT-titude and is such a character! We will test him with other cats once he is comfortable here. We were told he does not like dogs but he gets on the floor of his enclosure and talks to them when they are near, so we will try him with dogs soon as well.

9. Darcy
Kitten (5 months 30 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (medium coat)

Darcy is one of 5 kittens we rescued after the mama cat died. They haven't received much care before now, so they are a little hissy, but they are thriving and doing well. She just wants to be loved, but is still figuring out how to accept human affection. She will be a little shy at first, but she is really coming around and allowing pets. Darcy does well with other cats and would probably adapt to dogs as well. She is litter box trained and spayed.

11. Dario
Kitten (6 months) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Russian Blue / Mixed (medium coat)

Dario is one of 5 kittens we rescued after the mama cat died. They haven’t received much care before now, so they are a little hissy, but they are thriving and doing well. It is so cute when he hisses at you then melts into your hand for pets. He just wants to be loved, but is still figuring out how to accept human affection. He is not aggressive in any way, just tries to act tough. He does well with other cats and would probably adapt to dogs as well. He is litter box trained and neutered. Dario and his brother Dexter are twins.

12. Arlo
Adult (3 years 5 months) · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Arlo was an owner surrender - they developed health problems and could no longer care for him. He has been both indoors and outdoors and is litterbox trained. Arlo is very socialized and friendly. He's good with other cats and is very playful. He would make a great family pet. Arlo has a gorgeous swirl pattern on his fur and is just so handsome. You have to see for yourself!
