1. Atomic Kitten

Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Russian Blue (medium coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Atomic Kitten is a sweet, playful girl with a serious love of freeze-dried treats and chin scratches. She runs, plays, and explores just like any other cat, then happily settles in for affection from her favorite person. She is a bit of an introvert and can be a little timid when adjusting to new people or situations. Atomic Kitten may not make the first move right away, so she would do best with someone who is comfortable initiating interaction and giving her the time she needs to feel safe. Once she chooses you as her person, her loving, affectionate side begins to shine.Atomic Kitten does well with other cats, but she is more interested in her people and does not require a feline companion in her future home. She could be happy with friendly cats or as the only kitty soaking up all the attention for herself.Atomic Kitten is also an FIP survivor. Her illness affected her muscle control, leaving her with some incontinence as a lasting effect. She has some bladder and bowel control, but frequent “sprinkles” and the occasional surprise poo make diapers the easiest way to keep her clean and comfortable. Her routine is much simpler than it may sound. She typically needs two or three diaper changes each day and a quick five-minute butt bath most days. Regular hygiene shaves also help make caring for her easier. Once you get the hang of it, her routine quickly becomes just another normal part of the day.Atomic Kitten doesn’t know she is a special-needs cat. She knows she is a snack connoisseur, professional toy chaser, and devoted companion who happens to wear diapers. She has already overcome the hardest part of her story. Now she is looking for a patient person willing to make the first move and give this extraordinary girl the safe, loving forever she deserves. She is currently being fostered in Lakewood, CO and approved applicants can meet her in home or if preferred her foster parent is happy to coordinate visits at Elevated Communities Cat Cafe if scheduled in advance. Please Note: Elevated Communities Cat Café is located in Longmont, Colorado. There is a $12 entry fee to visit the café, which helps support the care of the resident cats and the mission of Elevated Communities. Walk-ins are typically welcome or you can visit https://elevatedcommunitiescatcafe.org/visit to schedule your visit ahead of time.

2. Holstein

Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

My Name is Holstien. It's an ironic name based on my coloring because I was the runt. When my family was found I was 1.5 weeks old and only about 60% as big as my siblings. Now i'm not the littlest but I am the bravest. I love eating and am a little round. My beautiful belly has a heart shaped mark on it. I sure do love people too. If you hold me I'll be so happy and if you play with me I'll be even happier. I'm a well balanced kitty, just the right amount of confidence and curiosity to be your forever friend.
I'm 9 weeks old, spayed and chipped.

3. Yang

Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Hi name is Yang, I am so cuddly, playful too. If you hold me I'll just melt and relax into you. Napping together is great in between play sessions. My family was found abandoned when I was just 1.5 weeks old. My poor mom was starving. I've had the benefit of being raised by people and my loving mom. She loves people, so I do too. I think I'm pretty mellow. Sometimes I just watch my crazy siblings then I'll but it's ok to be pretty calm too. Some people think my ears are too big for army head. I look a little unique.
I'm 9 weeks old, spayed and chipped. My black and white coat is short and tidy. I have an old soul for a new kitty.

Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

My Name is Yin. I am so brave and playful. My mom was abandoned and took care of us alone until we all got fostered when I was 1.5 weeks. I'm the adventurer in the group so that means I love to play in new spaces like boxes, under sheets or anywhere adventure takes me. When I'm not playing or being curious I'll come sleep on your lap or sit on your shoulder like a parrot. I am just so much fun.
Please consider adopting me. I'm black and white and my short fur keeps things easy peasy. I'm 9 weeks old, chipped and spayed.

Young · Female · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Hi My name is Panda. My family and I were found abandoned in a plastic storage bin when I was only 1.5 weeks old. Now we are 9 weeks and I am ready to be your furever friend. I really love people, my purr-motor starts up when I'm held. I am a well balanced blend of independence and cuddles. I can play with you or by myself but I just love to play.
My coat is interesting, it is ultra soft. It's not like my litter mates or typical cats. It reminds my foster family of angora. It is just a bit longer than my siblings, more medium than short. My dark spots are actually very dark tabby striped.
Please bring me into your home. I'm spayed, chipped and ready to love.

6. Doolin

Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Meet Doolin — A Little Irish Luck and a Whole Lot of Love! Every cat has a story, but Doolin's begins with a little mystery! This handsome, ear-tipped gentleman appeared on a neighborhood porch one day, seemingly out of nowhere. Where he came from or what adventures he had before finding his way into foster care, we'll never know. But one thing is certain — Doolin was ready for a new beginning! When Doolin first arrived, he was a shy, cautious boy who wasn't quite sure what to make of his new surroundings. But with patience, kindness, and plenty of love, something wonderful happened. Those cautious glances turned into sweet slow blinks, and that once-reserved kitty began discovering just how wonderful human affection can be!Today, Doolin is a purring, affectionate sweetheart who eagerly seeks out his foster mom for attention! He happily rubs against her legs, nuzzles her hands, and turns on that wonderful little purr motor while soaking up all the love and scritches he can get. Watching his confidence blossom has been nothing short of magical! And as it turns out, Doolin is quite the gentleman! He respectfully greets the other cats in his foster home and doesn't seem the least bit bothered by the resident dogs. While Doolin has made incredible progress, he's still building confidence when it comes to being picked up. He'll need a patient, understanding family who will let him continue blossoming at his own pace. But if his journey so far is any indication, this sweet boy has so much more love waiting to be discovered!Doolin is living proof that sometimes the most beautiful relationships begin with a little patience and a whole lot of heart. His past may always be a mystery, but his future deserves to be filled with love, security, and a family of his very own. Could you be Doolin's lucky charm and give this special boy his happily ever after? ❤️

7. Celery + Onion

Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Celery & Onion: Night Owls Seeking Their Kind of HumanWe are Celery and Onion, a bonded pair of clever, quirky cats who do things on our own schedule. We aren't your typical outgoing cats who will immediately greet you at the door, climb into your lap, or make themselves at home in a big, unfamiliar space. We need patience, understanding, and a human who knows that trust is earned rather than demanded. Our favorite time of day? Dusk, of course! That's when our whiskers twitch, our eyes brighten, and we begin our nightly adventures. We're true night owls, and we'd probably be happiest with someone who enjoys staying up late, appreciates a quiet household, and doesn't expect us to operate on a nine-to-five schedule. We're smart cats who have even learned to get used to the Roomba.

Read more about Celery + Onion

We're also very treat-motivated, so the way to our hearts may involve a little patience, a few snacks, and a willingness to let us decide when we're ready.Celery's Side of the Story:"Hello, I'm Celery! I'm the more sociable one of this duo, and when evening rolls around, I may wander around meowing to let you know that fresh wet food would be very much appreciated. I also enjoy pets, snuggles, ear scratches, and butt pets — but please remember that I'm the one in charge of when and how these things happen! When I'm feeling comfortable, I'll rub against you and your furniture to spread a little love (and probably some fur). I enjoy affection, but I need it to be on my terms. Let me approach you, listen to my signals, and respect it when I've had enough. If you can do that, we might just become good friends. I may need time to settle in and feel safe before showing you my affectionate side. Please don't take it personally if I need to watch you from a distance first or always. I'm learning that people can be kind, and I need the chance to figure that out for myself."Onion's Side of the Story"Greetings. I'm Onion, the thoughtful observer of the household. I prefer to admire humans from a comfortable distance rather than participate in all that unnecessary socializing. Cuddling? No, thank you. Uninvited pets? Also no, thank you.I do, however, have excellent taste in entertainment. A window with a sturdy, reinforced screen is prime real estate for bird-watching, neighborhood surveillance, and contemplating the mysteries of the universe. An elevated perch in the evening is another favorite, because important observations are best made from above. That said, as long as you are not watching nearby. I want solitude to enjoy my life.I also love treats, and if you bring out the right toy at the right hour of the night, you may discover that I have a playful side. I am clever, curious, and perfectly capable of enjoying life without being a lap cat. Please don't adopt me expecting to change my mind about cuddling or turn me into a cat who seeks human attention. My way of being is valid, too. I need a person who can appreciate me for who I am, even if our relationship looks more like quiet companionship than physical affection."Our Dream Home:We are looking for a calm, patient, kind, and adaptable human who understands that cats are individuals with their own boundaries, personalities, and timelines.A quiet, gentle atmosphere. Loud voices, forceful handling, and pushy interactions are not for us. We need someone who can move slowly, speak softly, and let us approach when we're ready.A night-owl human. We're most active around dusk and into the night. Someone who is comfortable being up late and enjoys our little evening routines would be a wonderful match.Plenty of safe hiding places. We may hide a lot, especially while adjusting to a new home. We need accessible, safe places where we can retreat without being chased, cornered, or pulled out. We also may hide for the rest of our being. If you live in a small space with minimal nooks this will help our bonding.A gradual transition. We do best when we can begin in a smaller, secure space and slowly become comfortable b

Read more about Sabrina

Sabrina was rescued after someone dumped her, along with her five kittens.
We were notified about a cat under a deck and were told she was feral. When we arrived, it was discovered she was not feral. Instead, she was super sweet. She is a young cat, not more than 2 years. She likes to snuggle and sit in your lap. She is beautiful and looks like an ancient Egyptian painting. Sleek, black and long. She takes time to warm up to other cats, but with patience it's doable. It took her a few days to relax around my cats, she was scared. However, I have 7 cats, so it was overwhelming.
We also think she could be happy living without another cat. She would be fine with older children and needs a quiet home. All in all, she is a sweet cat who needs some time to settle in and get used to being away from her kittens. She can be seen in rural Ft. Lupton.

I’m also great with my litterbox! If you’re looking for an affectionate, sweet, gentle kitten, come meet me. I’m currently in Broomfield. I am about 4.5 months old and was born around the beginning of May, and my adoption fee is $225.

What’s better than one black kitten? A pair of bonded black kittens!

Read more about Morticia & Wednesday

Although they aren’t siblings, Morticia and Wednesday have formed a pretty special bond. Morticia, the smaller and possibly younger kitten with the fluffy black tail, even allows Wednesday to nurse on her whenever she needs.

They are roughly 16–20 weeks old, both have been spayed, and both are current on their vaccinations.

Both girls are still a little skittish, but they’re starting to come around. I really believe they’ll blossom and come out of their shells once they’re in a quieter, less chaotic home where they can feel safe and loved.

Because they are bonded and I’d love to see them stay together, I’m asking for a $50 rehoming fee for the pair.

Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Meet Cloudette! This cutie little girl is right around 1 year old. She has the cutest markings with a black tail and one black sploosh on her head, otherwise she is fully white. She was rescued from an unsafe outdoor colony in Greeley. Since then she has grown to love her indoor kitty life. She enjoys looking out the window and playing with wand toys. Cloudette is a very timid girl and will take time to adjust to new people and a new home. Her favorite place at her foster home is tucked away in the closet. But once she knows you, she likes to come out to cuddle in bed and get lots of pets. She loves other kitties and would make a great companion for another friendly feline. Her ideal family will have a quiet life and lots of love and patience to give Cloudette as she adapts to her new home.
**Cloudette has a sensitive tummy and needs a home that can feed her any brand of sensitive digestive food.
Cloudette is located in the Thornton area. She does great with her litter box and litter robots! Apply to learn more!

22. Milan

Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

*Please email Paigesantini@yahoo.com if interested in adopting Milan*
Milan is a sweet, loving, one-year-old tabby girl who was lucky enough to be born on the property of a Good Samaritan and friend of Animal Rescue of the Rockies who always cares for the kitties who show up on her property.
Milan was born to a feral mama cat, but Milan herself is sweet! She may take a few days to warm up, but then she loves cuddling, rubbing up against your legs, and playing (ping pong balls are a favorite). She also enjoys her catio and would be excited if her new home had one, though it isn't a requirement.
Milan could be adopted as a solo kitty, but she will most likely do well with other cats as well. She is currently living with another kitty, Kiwi, who she gets along well with (the second photo is Milan with Kiwi). She can be adopted with Kiwi if someone is looking for a pair, though Kiwi is much more skittish and will need a patient adopter. We don't know how Milan would do with dogs.
If you're interested in meeting Miss Milan, she is being fostered in Monument, CO. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines. Please reach out directly to Paige at Paigesantini@yahoo.com if you're interested!

23. Bailey

Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Meet Bailey aka Belly
Hi, I’m Bailey, but my foster mom lovingly calls me Belly! I’m a sweet, loyal adult girl (around 8 years old) who came into rescue weighing over 17 pounds. With a little TLC, I’m now a healthier 14 pounds and feeling fabulous!
I’m the kind of bestie who likes to be wherever my person is—especially when foster mom is working. I take my job as Chief Work Supervisor very seriously. When I’m not supervising, you’ll usually find me napping. I have my very own pillow right next to foster mom's. I also love wand toys, playing with my toys, and, naturally, food! I’m very food motivated and have mastered the art of being adorable around mealtime.
I have a sensitive tummy, so I’m on a prescription diet. I’m accustomed to wet food twice a day and grazing on dry food throughout the day. I recently had a dental and lost my bottom teeth and one canine, but that hasn’t slowed this girl down one bit!
When it comes to roommates, I’m pretty easygoing. I don’t mind kittens or adult cats and can happily coexist with feline friends.
What I’m really looking for is my forever bestie—someone who appreciates a sweet, devoted companion who will keep them company, supervise their work, share their naps, and remind them when it’s time for dinner.
Could you be my forever person?

24. Mabel

Young · Female · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 5 mi from Denver

Meet Mabel — A Sweetheart Who Loves to Snuggle!
Mabel is currently being housed at the Elevated Communities Cat Cafe, looking for her forever home.
Mabel is a 6-month-old bundle of sweetness who would love nothing more than to curl up in your lap and be your very best friend. She’s a true lap cat and professional snuggler, who wants nothing more than to be part of a loving family. Mabel has plenty of kitten energy and loves to play and be silly. She has so much love to give and would be a wonderful addition to the right home. ❤️There is one very important thing you need to know about Mabel: she eats things she shouldn’t. She has already required two surgeries for swallowing non-food items, including a Nerf dart. This isn’t a minor quirk—it’s something her forever family will need to take very seriously. For that reason, Mabel is looking for a very special, adult-only home possibly with no other pets. Other pets often mean toys, chews, strings, and other tempting objects that could put Mabel in danger. Her ideal family will be exceptionally tidy and careful about never leaving small objects, clothing, string, hair ties, plastic, toys, or other tempting items where Mabel can get to them.In other words, Mabel needs people who are willing to make her safety a daily priority. If you can provide that kind of carefully managed home, what you’ll get in return is an incredibly affectionate little girl who will happily curl up in your lap, flop over and show her belly, snuggle beside you, entertain you with her playful kitten antics, and love you with her whole heart. Mabel is not looking for just any home. She’s looking for her forever home—the one that understands her special needs and will keep her safe.If you think you might be that person, Mabel would love to meet you. ❤️

Earl and Stella are a bonded pair of sweet 12-year-old senior cats looking for a loving home to spend their golden years together.
Sadly, their beloved owner has entered hospice care and is no longer able to care for them. Through no fault of their own, these two are searching for a family willing to open their hearts and give them the comfort and stability they deserve.
Both Earl and Stella are in good health, have been recently vaccinated, and are spayed/neutered. They are not microchipped. They are currently located in Grand Junction, but we're hoping to help them find a home anywhere in Colorado, including the Front Range, to give them the best chance at staying together.
Senior cats have so much love to give—they're often calm, affectionate, and grateful for a cozy place to call home.

27. Flounder

Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 25 mi from Denver

Meet Flounder—he may be shy today, but his story is just beginning.

Flounder is a very shy kitten who has been through a lot of change in a short time. He arrived at his original shelter with an upper respiratory infection and then transferred to EAPL. We’re happy to report that he has fully recovered.

Because sick kittens must spend their initial time in quarantine, Flounder hasn’t yet had many opportunities to learn how much fun people, toys and other kittens can be. Now that he’s healthy, he can begin gaining confidence and discovering the joys of kitten life.

Read more about Flounder

Flounder will need a calm, patient person who understands that trust can’t be rushed. After time to decompress and feel secure, we hope his playful and social side will begin to emerge. Watching a shy kitten take those first brave steps is incredibly rewarding—and Flounder deserves someone willing to take that journey with him.

He is currently settling in at the EAPL Cat Adoption Center inside Chow Down Pet Supplies in Evergreen. Stop by, speak softly and give him a chance to get to know you.

Ready to help Flounder feel safe and loved? Complete a cat adoption application at www.eapl.com. Once approved, you can schedule a meet and greet and find the cat or kitten best suited to your home.

Meet Sebastian—the kind of kitten whose trust is worth earning.

Sebastian is looking for a patient person who understands that some of the best relationships begin slowly. He’s a shy boy who needs a little time and space to feel safe before showing more of his personality.

Sebastian arrived at his original shelter with an upper respiratory infection. Since transferring to EAPL, he has made a full recovery and is now ready to begin the next chapter of his life.

Read more about Sebastian

After experiencing a shelter stay and a transfer, Sebastian is still decompressing and adjusting to another new environment. What he needs now is kindness, consistency and someone willing to let him move at his own pace. With time and security, we hope to see more of his playful and social side emerge.

Sebastian is currently settling in at the EAPL Cat Adoption Center inside Chow Down Pet Supplies in Evergreen. Stop by and meet him—you might be the patient, gentle person he’s been waiting for.

These two sweethearts were transferred to EAPL from HSFC due to the fire evacuations, and they're settling in a little cautiously — understandably so, after a stretch of being medicated and in quarantine. They're a bit gun-shy for now, but patient hands are already seeing them come out of their shells.

They arrived with an upper respiratory infection and were feeling pretty under the weather after the transfer — but they've since made a full recovery! Now that they're feeling better, they've discovered wand toys and can't get enough of them once they're comfortable with you.

I was abandoned as a kitten when the people who originally cared for me threw us outside before they moved.Luckily the nextdoor neighbor started feeding us and we were finally grabbed so I could be rehomed.I was the youngest of the bunch and still a little shy because of the traumatic ordeal. I am now an adolescent and gaining more trust as the days go on. I enjoy being rubbed on, but get a little flinchy when I’m being held. I will need a very patient person in a quiet home to make me feel more comfortable. I will then be your buddy for life.

How to adopt from Evergreen Animal Protective League

THE FIRST STEP to adopting an EAPL animal is to fill out a DOG ADOPTION APPLICATION. EAPL is a foster-based rescue. We do not have a shelter facility where applicants can come look at multiple animals at one time. All of our animals are in foster homes that range from Denver, to Evergreen, to Northeast Colorado - where they are loved and cared for until they are placed in a forever home. The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our Available Animals or providing a description of the type of animal you hope to adopt. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific animal, nor does it obligate you to adopt. Once we have received your application and determined that you are a good match for the requested animal, we will contact you. The foster parent will then contact you to arrange a time for you to meet the animal, at which time you can decide if you would like to complete the adoption. You may be asked to visit the animal more than once before taking it home. After your initial meeting with the animal, one of our volunteers will conduct a home visit. This may occur before you take the animal home or when the animal is delivered to you. Once the adoption is approved, you will need to complete our Preliminary Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fee. We will keep in contact over the next few days to make sure everyone is happy. If so, we will mail out an official Adoption Contract for

Adopting a cat in Denver

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
