29. Sunny
Senior (8 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Sunny is a handsome buff-colored gentleman with a heart as warm as his name. Born on June 24, 2018, this medium-sized Domestic Short Hair has a personality that wins everyone over. He's social, affectionate, playful, and loves being where the people are. If you're looking for a cat who greets you with happy chirps and wants to be part of your day, Sunny is your guy!Sunny gets along well with other cats, children, teens, and older adults. He can also do well with dogs once he has a chance to get to know them, although he's understandably cautious around new dogs at first. Sunny has lived through more than any cat ever should. He has survived being shot with pellets, which remain in his body but aren't causing him any problems. Along the way, he's also had dental extractions, injury repairs, and a tail amputation. Despite everything he's endured, Sunny hasn't lost his loving spirit. He still greets life with happiness, affection, and a desire to be close to his people.Sunny has stomatitis, a manageable condition that may require future dental care and, on occasion, a long-acting steroid injection to keep him comfortable. He's thriving and looking for someone who will love him just as much as he'll love them.Sunny would be happiest in a home where he has the option to safely enjoy both the indoors and outdoors. Whether he's exploring the yard, lounging in a sunny window, or curling up beside you after a day of adventures, he'll be your loyal companion every step of the way. After everything he's overcome, Sunny deserves a family that will finally show him the kindness and security he's always deserved. Could that family be yours? ❤️

30. Savvy
Adult (1 year 4 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Bombay / Mixed (short coat)

Savvy is an affectionate, tiny lady that loves to play with toys! She is so, so sweet and comes seeking attention all the time. She likes to split her time between being your shadow and being an independent kitty that plays and naps on her own.
Savvy was rescued from an abandoned house with her three kittens. She had taken great care of them, but was worse for the wear herself. She’s been in foster care for several weeks now and is doing great! Healthy, affectionate, shy, and sweet natured. She is positive for FIV, which means her immune system is not as strong as others and she needs a calm, loving home where she can play and be happy.

Adopting a cat in Fleming County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
