2. Marleigh
Young (4 months 22 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 41 mi from Baton Rouge

Marleigh female 15 weeks
This girl needs a special home. She came in having severe seizures that were treated due to an underlined condition. She is healthy and ready to go, no more seizures, but there was a little brain damage from them so she’s just a bit slow. She acts like a normal cat, but very, very mild temperament and has no issues eating drinking using the litter box. She just doesn’t play and have the hyper activity that are normal kitten wood. I actually think she has some peripheral vision loss.

Adult (1 year 1 month) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 41 mi from Baton Rouge

This is Jonnie
Fully vetted, I’m thinking he’s about 1 year old, definitely not older. He is another one that someone TNR and then dumped him m at a hospital parking lot, no feeder, no food source, he was starving:(
We trapped him and he is so, so sweet. He’s a little shy at first but when you start petting him he comes alive. Sweet baby.

4. Chicken
Adult (2 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Siamese (short coat) · 100 mi from Baton Rouge

Meet Chicken: A Tender Heart Learning to Trust
Chicken is a beautiful young adult Siamese mix who has a little confession to make: she really is a chicken. She isn’t the bravest girl in the room, but considering everything she’s been through, we think she has earned the right to take life at her own pace.
Chicken came to us very pregnant and in desperate need of help. She required an emergency C-section, and heartbreakingly, none of her babies survived. But Chicken did. And during her recovery, something important began to happen. She learned that human hands can be gentle, voices can be kind, and people can be trusted.

Her wonderful fosters have patiently helped her come a long way. Chicken is now a laid-back, sweet girl who becomes affectionate once you earn her trust. She still needs time to feel safe, so she’s looking for a quiet, patient home with someone willing to let the relationship unfold on Chicken Time. She also seems to feel more comfortable with women than men.
Busy adoption events would simply be too overwhelming for this shy lady, so Chicken is available by private meet-and-greet instead. Contact Cenla Cat Project if you’d like the chance to meet her.
Chicken may not march right up and choose you in five minutes. But when a cautious little cat who has every reason to be wary finally decides you are safe, that trust is something pretty special. ❤️

5. Astrea
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 74 mi from Baton Rouge

Hi. I’m Astrea. My name means “star maiden” or “starry one.” In Greek mythology, Astrea was the goddess of innocence, justice, and hope—the last immortal to leave Earth, with the promise that one day she’d return. No pressure, right?I’m just a little white cat trying to live up to the name.I didn’t exactly get the fairy tale beginning. Life threw a few curveballs my way, so I take my time deciding who’s worthy of my trust. But once you earn it? Oh, you’re done for. I’ll follow you around, tell you all about my day, supervise every single thing you do, and happily accept all the love you’re willing to give.

(And then ask for more.)I’m a little clumsy. Sometimes I miss the jump. Sometimes I dramatically fall off the couch like gravity personally offended me. We don’t need to discuss it.I’m also very vocal. If you enjoy peaceful silence… well… that’s adorable. I’ll be providing running commentary on breakfast, dinner, birds outside the window, the suspicious dust bunny under the couch, and why you absolutely should stop what you’re doing to pet me immediately.I’m sweet enough to melt your heart, but I do come with a dash of sass. I have opinions, and I believe they should be heard. Frequently. So if you’re looking for a perfect cat, keep scrolling. But if you’re looking for a resilient little star who will make you laugh every day, fill your home with chatter, and love you with her whole heart once she knows she’s safe…I think the stars may have brought us together.

7. Vanessa
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 74 mi from Baton Rouge

This is Vanessa - otherwise known as "Miss-understood." She was called a feral male and pulled from the shelter, only to discover she was a terrified, already spayed female! She is shy at first, but then warms up to be near you, making biscuits, chirping, purring, or perched in a window. She is not a lap cat, yet. About 3 years old, orange with white tabby, good with other cats and children, vaccinated, and yes, spayed.
8. Gumbo
Young (8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Oriental Short Hair (short coat) · 96 mi from Baton Rouge

Precious little Gumbo was adopted from us, but was returned when her parents split up. She's used to living indoors as a companion, and that's the life we hope to find again for her. She's a very friendly girl who enjoys being held and cuddled - not an aloof bone in her body!
She's almost five months old, is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on flea/tick preventative. Adoption fee is $85. You can reach a volunteer at 769-281-8202

Why adopt an adult cat in Baton Rouge
An adult cat's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are used to family life.
Grown cats are calmer and need less supervision than kittens, which suits people who work long hours or have young children.
