1. Tommy

Adult (7 years 2 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Tommy!

A loving seven-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat currently in San Diego, CA, whose handsome silver-gray tabby coat and affectionate personality make him an irresistible cuddle companion.

Weighing 14 pounds, Tommy is a gentle, social sweetheart who believes everyone he meets is a potential new friend! He enthusiastically greets visitors by rubbing against their legs, asking for pets, and sometimes settling right on their feet. Whether curled up in your lap or relaxing beside you, Tommy loves being close to his favorite people. He's also a quiet gentleman who rarely vocalizes, except when being picked up.

Read more about Tommy

When he's not busy spreading affection, Tommy enjoys watching the world outside his window. Birds and squirrels provide endless entertainment, especially when he can chatter at them from his cat tree. His favorite toy is an interactive owl who squeaks and flaps his wings, bringing out Tommy's playful side!

Tommy has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and asthma, which requires twice-daily oral Prednisolone. Fortunately, this clever boy has mastered his medication routine! When he hears "Ready, ready, ready, open, open," he opens his mouth, knowing delicious Greenies and Temptations treats are coming. His caregiver happily offers to teach his new family this simple routine. Tommy has reportedly experienced only one asthma episode in the past year.

Tommy is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He also eats a special urinary-care diet to help prevent crystals. His caregiver has also offered a monthly contribution toward his ongoing care.

This affectionate boy needs a calm, loving home with an experienced cat parent who is comfortable managing his medical needs. His compatibility with children, dogs, and other cats remains uncertain, so thoughtful introductions and careful consideration are important. He would appreciate room to explore, daily playtime, and plenty of opportunities for snuggling!

2. Honey Bunn and Peppermint

Senior (10 years 10 months) · Male · Siamese / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Honey Bunn and Peppermint!

An inseparable pair of affectionate cats currently in Lewisville, TX. Honey Bunn is an almost twelve-year-old brown tabby Domestic Shorthair, while Peppermint is an eight-year-old Siamese mix with beautiful blue eyes and a mostly white coat adorned with dark brown patches. These two charming boys share a special bond and are looking for a new loving home together!

Read more about Honey Bunn and Peppermint

Honey Bunn, affectionately called Bun, is a laid-back, lovable gentleman who believes relaxation is an art form. Weighing around 20 pounds, this cuddly sweetheart enjoys lounging, playing with toy mice, and making biscuits while purring like a little motor! Despite his size, Bun considers himself a tiny kitten and happily climbs into laps for affection. His funniest habit? Proudly announcing whenever he discovers a toy! He also enjoys drinking water straight from the sink.

Peppermint, weighing around 15 pounds, brings an outgoing, playful energy to their friendship. This social butterfly greets visitors at the door, adores cuddles, and has an almost dog-like personality! He loves exploring, chasing strings and pom-pom balls, and occasionally playing fetch. Leave a cozy blanket unattended, and Peppermint might claim it as his personal snuggle spot!

Together, these boys offer a delightful balance of peaceful companionship and playful entertainment. Both are affectionate, enjoy gentle handling, and have wonderful manners during veterinary visits. They are neutered and vaccinated. Peppermint has a small heart murmur that multiple veterinarians have determined is not life-threatening.

Honey Bunn can be selective with unfamiliar cats, while Peppermint is especially sociable. Both are generally comfortable around dogs, although their compatibility with children is unknown. A calm, caring environment with patient pet parents who appreciate their individual personalities would suit them beautifully.

Most importantly, Honey Bunn and Peppermint must be adopted together. Their friendship is part of what makes them so special!

Adult (8 years 6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Benny!

A lovable eight-and-a-half-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat currently in Gig Harbor, WA, whose handsome brown tabby coat, charming white accents, and affectionate personality make him one unforgettable gentleman!

Weighing approximately 16 pounds, Benny is a big, cuddly sweetheart with an even bigger personality. This handsome boy is a devoted companion who loves being close to his favorite people. Whether he's curling up in your lap for petting, following you from room to room, or serenading you with his impressive vocabulary of meows, Benny knows how to make everyday moments special!

Read more about Benny

One of his most endearing quirks is his beloved emotional support toy, which he proudly carries around while searching for his favorite human. He's also an enthusiastic mealtime supervisor who will happily escort you to the kitchen, especially when delicious lickable treats are involved! Despite his mature age, Benny still enjoys playful adventures, occasionally fetching toys or surprising everyone with an impressive leap into the air.

Benny is looking for a calm, loving, adult-only home where he can be the center of attention as the only pet. He's strictly an indoor gentleman who appreciates familiar routines, gentle affection, and plenty of companionship. A single pet parent or couple who spends considerable time at home would be wonderfully compatible with his affectionate, devoted nature.

Benny experiences anxiety, particularly during stressful changes, high winds, or unexpected encounters with animals. He typically responds by running or hiding, although he has experienced two isolated episodes of heightened reactivity during unusually stressful situations. Patient caregivers who understand feline body language and provide a peaceful environment will help him feel secure. Veterinary visits can also be stressful, but prescribed medications have successfully helped him navigate challenging experiences.

This neutered sweetheart is healthy, vaccinated, and ready for his next chapter! Although located in Gig Harbor, WA, long-distance adoption arrangements may be possible for a suitable family.

Benny has so much personality, affection, and companionship to share with someone who appreciates a wonderfully vocal, devoted feline shadow. Meet Tinker!

A sweet and shy six-year-old Domestic Short Hair currently in Franklin Square, NY, whose gentle personality comes wrapped in a striking white coat decorated with handsome gray patches.

At around 22 pounds, Tinker is a wonderfully big boy with a tender heart! He can be timid when first getting comfortable, but patience gives this affectionate fellow the chance to show just how loving he can be. He has amusing little habits that add personality to his days, and his vocal nature means his family can expect the occasional feline commentary, too! This indoor gentleman currently lives alongside other cats. Tinker may be timid around feline companions at first, but he can become playful and tolerant once he has time to settle in. He is suitable for a family with calm, respectful older children who can give him the gentle interactions he appreciates. Because Tinker has reacted to dogs, he needs a loving home without canine companions.

Meet Machiavelli!

A spirited four-and-a-half-year-old Domestic Long Hair currently in La Quinta, CA, whose essence is a delightful mix of affection, confidence, and conversation wrapped in a beautiful mackerel tabby coat.

Machiavelli is an incredibly sweet and outgoing girl who believes the best place to be is wherever her favorite person happens to be! She loves following her people from room to room, offering companionship, supervision, and probably a few opinions along the way. Very vocal and expressive, Machiavelli has no trouble letting you know exactly what she wants, especially when what she wants is more attention and love.

Read more about Machiavelli

This medium-sized beauty has an easygoing nature paired with plenty of energy. She is happiest when she can be involved in daily life, whether she is keeping you company during a quiet afternoon, trailing behind you as you move around the home, or requesting another round of affection. For someone who enjoys a social cat with a big personality, Machiavelli can bring plenty of warmth, amusement, and lively conversation to each day!

Machiavelli is an indoor-only cat, and her new family will need to continue giving her a safe, enriching life indoors. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and has no known health issues.

Because Machiavelli seeks lots of attention and prefers not to compete with other cats for affection, she is looking for a loving home where she can shine as the solo cat and soak up all the companionship she craves. She has not been around children or dogs, so her compatibility with them is unknown. A caring environment where she can be the center of feline attention would suit her beautifully!

With her friendly spirit, chatty nature, and enthusiastic devotion to her people, Machiavelli is ready to make everyday routines feel a little more entertaining. She is the kind of companion who will make sure you rarely feel alone and always know when it is time for cuddles.

8. Cricket and Daphne

Kitten (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Cricket and Daphne!

Two bonded six-month-old Domestic Short Hair kittens currently in Vancouver, WA, whose gentle hearts, playful spirits, and serious enthusiasm for lap time make them an especially lovable pair.

Read more about Cricket and Daphne

Cricket, a handsome gray and tan tabby boy, is the resident belly-rub enthusiast! Once he feels comfortable, he wants nothing more than to settle onto a lap, face forward for television time, expose his tummy, and collect as much affection as possible. Belly rubs, neck scratches, sweet conversation, and his favorite pink toy mouse are among his greatest pleasures! When he cannot find his person or feels attention is overdue, Cricket even produces an adorable little “dissatisfied grunt” to summon assistance.

Daphne, a beautiful gray tabby and white girl, has her own charming communication system. She makes a tiny, high-pitched peep when she cannot find her person or would like more attention. She is also developing quite a passion for burrowing beneath blankets and shirts, because apparently ordinary snuggling simply is not close enough! Jingly balls, wand toys, cozy hidey holes, and lap time keep this affectionate girl very happy.

Both kittens are sensitive and shy at first, but their playful sides emerge as they become comfortable. They romp with other cats and can be wonderfully rambunctious together! Neither particularly enjoys being picked up, so a family who lets affection happen on their terms will help them continue building confidence.

Most importantly, Cricket and Daphne have a special bond. Their companionship helps these sensitive kittens feel secure, and they need to be adopted together so they can continue experiencing new adventures side by side.

They are friendly with other cats and suitable for calm, respectful older children. Both are shy around dogs and prefer keeping their distance. They need an indoor-only, peaceful, patient home with plenty of affection, play, companionship, and time to adjust.

Cricket is neutered, and Daphne’s spay is being scheduled. Both are up to date on vaccinations and have no known health concerns. Is there room on your lap for two sweet little shadows who plan to stay close? To learn more about adopting Cricket and Daphne together, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

9. Dennis

Kitten (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Dennis!

A snuggly six-month-old Domestic Short Hair kitten currently in Vancouver, WA, whose dashing tuxedo coat comes wrapped around a gentle, playful boy with an impressive talent for turning eye contact into cuddle requests.

Dennis may be a little timid while getting comfortable, but patience and gentleness reveal his wonderfully affectionate personality. Once he knows his people, this love bug wants to be close! When Dennis is looking for attention, he has an especially charming routine: he reaches out, gives a tiny squeak, and fixes you with an intense gaze that makes his message wonderfully clear. Hug me, please!

Read more about Dennis

And hugs are serious business for Dennis. Being held and snuggled is one of his favorite things, and he enjoys spending time near his people. If he finds himself alone, he may quietly call once or twice until he locates his favorite humans. Then comes the affection!

Dennis also has plenty of kitten energy. He loves chasing, climbing, play fighting with other cats, and pursuing toys tossed across the room. His funniest obsession is the fuzzy fabric he has enthusiastically removed from fluffy toys. Once Dennis has liberated one of these treasured scraps, he will happily race around carrying his prize, apparently convinced he has discovered the greatest toy ever invented!

This social boy is friendly with other cats and would benefit from feline companionship or a family with someone home regularly. He is gentle and comfortable with children of all ages. His compatibility with dogs is unknown because he has not had enough experience with them yet. Dennis needs an indoor-only loving home where he can have time to adjust, plenty of play, companionship, and, naturally, an excellent supply of cuddles.

Dennis is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, with no known health concerns. His combination of sweetness, silliness, and affection promises plenty of joyful moments for the family who welcomes him.

10. Charlie

Kitten (6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Charlie!

A confident six-month-old Domestic Short Hair kitten currently in Vancouver, WA, whose adventurous spirit and affectionate heart are wrapped in a beautiful tan tabby coat.

Charlie is the kind of girl who knows how to make her own fun! Independent and curious, she is happy entertaining herself when her family is away, but when playtime begins, she is ready for action. Springs and wand toys are favorites, although anything she can chase is likely to earn her enthusiastic approval! She also enjoys tumbling and playing with other cats, including both her siblings and older feline friends.

Read more about Charlie

For all that independence, Charlie has a wonderfully affectionate side. When she is feeling especially content, she turns into a champion biscuit maker, kneading away while her purr motor provides the soundtrack! She enjoys being held, seeks out affection, and has even started experimenting with laps. Her current technique is delightfully Charlie: settle comfortably just a few inches away, then occasionally decide that climbing aboard might actually be pretty nice.

Friendly with family and strangers, Charlie is also comfortable and gentle with children of all ages. She is accustomed to other cats and would be compatible with feline companions, but her confidence means she can also be placed on her own. Her compatibility with dogs is unknown because she has not had enough experience with them yet.

Charlie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations, with no known health issues. She needs an indoor-only loving home with a family who will give her time to adjust while continuing to offer plenty of play, affection, companionship, and opportunities to explore safely. She will even bring along her favorite bed and toys to help make her transition more familiar.

With her playful confidence, impressive biscuit-making skills, and charming combination of independence and affection, Charlie is ready to bring laughter, purrs, and lively adventures to her next chapter! 11. Frankie

Senior (12 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 38 mi from Worcester

Frankie is a sweet, affectionate neutered male cat that’s been through a lot and is looking for his long-deserved home. He was abandoned a few years ago and had to fend for himself on the streets, where we believe he became FIV+. Despite this, he is super friendly and loves humans. He’s estimated to be 10 years old and is up to date on vaccinations. Here’s what his foster volunteer says about him:

Read more about Frankie

How would you describe the cat's general personality?
Frankie is the definition of a lap cat. He is an A+ snuggler and loves being pet. While he is very social, he is not at all overwhelming. He is a gentle presence with an incredible purr.
Does the cat enjoy being pet?

Yes, he loves being pet.

If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?

He prefers his cheeks, head, and back.

Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?

Not that I've noticed.

Does the cat come on your lap?

Yes, he enjoys sitting in laps and he loves laying on your chest if you're laying down.

Does the cat like to be held?

He doesn't mind it, but it doesn't seem to be his favorite thing.

Does the cat sleep in your bed?

Yes, he does. He will lay on your chest while you're sleeping or lay next to you throughout the night.

Does the cat seek your attention?

Definitely, but not in an annoying way. He can definitely "read the room" -- he'll seek attention when you're sitting or relaxing.

Does the cat like to play?

Yes, but it's not as high on the list as snuggling.

What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

He will bat around a mouse on a string, but isn't super playful.

How vocal is the cat?

He is not very vocal; he might do a quiet "chirrup" when he enters a room you're in, but otherwise very quiet.

What kinds of sounds does the cat make?

Does the cat scratch a scratcher?
If no, please explain.

Not that I've seen, but I have been encouraging it.

Does the cat always use the litter box?
If no, please explain.

Yes, he always uses the litter box.

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?

He eats Fancy Feast seafood (wet food) 3x a day. No dry food and no treats.

Is the cat picky about food?

No, he inhales his food in about 10 seconds.

What is the cat's favorite treat?

I haven't given him any treats as the instruction was to stick to wet Fancy Feast.

What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered?

N/A.

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?

Only one time when he just arrived and was overwhelmed. After the first day, never!

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?

No

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?

No

Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?
No
To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?

He is slightly cautious, but warms up very quickly.

If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on?

I haven't observed him with other animals.

Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?
He takes laying on top of any horizontal person very seriously.
In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?
If you want a gentle, snuggly cat with a relaxing purr, Frankie is your guy. He'll keep you warm on long winter nights and make sure you're never watching TV alone.
What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?

He will try to eat food that's left out overnight (even if it's wrapped in packaging). Keep all food in cabinets, and you're good to go!

14. Little Boy

Adult (6 years) · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Little Boy!

A gentle six-year-old Domestic Long Hair currently in Amherst, MA, whose affectionate spirit, conversational nature, and handsome black coat make this 12-pound boy an unforgettable companion.

Read more about Little Boy

Little Boy is a huge sweetheart who wants to be part of everyday life! He thrives on frequent attention and a predictable routine where he can follow his people, chat about important cat business, and settle nearby for some quality togetherness. He enjoys firm petting, playful tussling, brushing, and, amusingly, a good rump pat! When he has had enough attention, he communicates politely by holding or gently pushing a hand away. Sometimes, when affection ends too soon, he will even pull your arm back toward him!

This social boy loves food-shaped catnip toys, rope, hair ties, resting, following people, and being followed himself. He has also mastered the charming habit of sitting at the table like an invited dinner guest! Visitors get to see his confident, friendly side, too.

Little Boy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He has a history of anxiety and recently received dental care. His family should be prepared to continue supporting his veterinary, food, grooming, and litter needs.

His litter box habits are an important part of understanding what Little Boy needs. He reliably uses his boxes for bowel movements but frequently urinates in a standing, marking position, sometimes spraying the nearby wall. Stress and environmental changes appear to play an important role. Notably, after moving into a new home previously, his spraying stopped completely for about two months. It later increased alongside dental pain, reduced access to the home, and, more recently, sharing his environment with a dog. His spraying has improved significantly during periods of reduced stress and consistent routines, so a calm, stable environment would be best. He needs at least two very large boxes, including a large covered option, softer litter, and consistent daily cleaning.

Little Boy needs to be the only animal in his new family. He has not adjusted comfortably to cats or dogs, and his compatibility with children is unknown. A pet parent who is home most of the day, such as someone retired, working from home, or living in a multigenerational family, could give this people-loving boy the companionship he craves.

Could this talkative, affectionate gentleman be your new table guest, brushing buddy, and constant companion? To learn more about adopting Little Boy, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Meet Gwynnie!

A sweet three-and-a-half-year-old Domestic Short Hair currently in Oceanside, CA, whose affectionate spirit and playful personality shine through her sleek black coat.

Read more about Gwynnie

Gwynnie is a people-loving girl who knows how to make cuddle time extra special! Settle into a comfy spot, and she may climb onto your lap and begin making her adorable “happy paws,” kneading away while enjoying your company. She does not particularly enjoy being held, but she loves choosing closeness on her own terms. She can be shy initially, then blossoms into a friendly companion once she feels comfortable. She has a special fondness for men and happily gravitates toward the men in her family.

When Gwynnie is ready for action, she makes her intentions charmingly clear by bringing her favorite toy to her people! She loves chasing toys up and down the stairs, relaxing on her cat perch, enjoying treats, and enthusiastically celebrating wet food. Life with Gwynnie offers a delightful combination of playful bursts, cozy lap time, and plenty of feline personality!

Gwynnie needs to be the only cat in her new loving home. She has become increasingly uncomfortable sharing her environment with other cats, including hissing, swatting, and occasional marking outside her litter box. However, there's wonderful news! Since being given her own separate space away from the other cat, Gwynnie has stopped marking entirely and consistently uses her litter box. This encouraging improvement suggests that a calm, cat-free environment may help her maintain these positive habits.

Gwynnie has no bite history and has not shown aggression toward people. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is compatible with calm, respectful, school-age children and older. Her compatibility with dogs has not been assessed. A gradual transition, beginning in a comfortable contained space before expanding her access, will help her settle in.

Gwynnie needs a family who enjoys companionship and can spend plenty of time with her. Could this happy-pawed, toy-delivering girl be the companion ready to brighten your days? To learn more about adopting Gwynnie, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

16. Chester

Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby (short coat) · 30 mi from Worcester

Hi, I’m Chester, and I’ll be honest—I’m a bit of a complicated guy At 4 years old
For the most part, I’m a friendly, handsome boy who enjoys attention and spending time with my people. But I also have some quirks that make me special. Sometimes, if I’m caught off guard or become overstimulated, I can react by biting or attacking. Because of this, I’m looking for someone who understands cats like me and is willing to learn my signals and respect my boundaries.
I’ve been in a few homes already, and what I really need is a patient, cat-savvy person who will accept me for who I am and give me the stability I’ve been missing.
I’m looking for an adult-only home where I can be your one and only pet—no kids, no cats, and no dogs, please. In the right home with someone who understands that not every cat fits into a perfect little box, I know I have the potential to be a wonderful companion.
Could you be the person willing to give a misunderstood guy like me the chance I deserve?

18. Kittycat and Tinker

Adult (6 years 3 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Kittycat and Tinker!

Bonded six-year-old Domestic Short Hair brothers currently in Franklin Square, NY, whose sweet personalities come wrapped in two distinctive looks: Kittycat’s gray and tan tabby coat with white accents and Tinker’s white coat with handsome gray patches.

Read more about Kittycat and Tinker

These big, lovable boys have spent their entire lives together, and their bond is an important part of their story! Kittycat, about 18 pounds, is the more outgoing brother, a friendly, affectionate fellow who happily returns the love he receives. Tinker, about 22 pounds, can be shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, his loving side shines through! Both enjoy being picked up, have vocal personalities, and bring plenty of playful energy to their indoor routine.

When playtime begins, Kittycat and Tinker enjoy a variety of interactive cat toys, including favorites from brands such as Frisco, PawsPik, and Catstages. Their playful sides add plenty of fun to the day, and each brother has his own amusing little quirks that are sure to keep their new family smiling! After the fun, these affectionate companions know how to make love a two-way street. Give them warmth and attention, and they are ready to send it right back!

Together, they offer twice the companionship, twice the charm, and countless cozy moments to brighten ordinary days. Kittycat and Tinker currently live alongside other cats. They may be playful or simply tolerant around feline companions, with Tinker sometimes needing a little time to warm up. They are suitable for a family with calm, respectful older children. Because they have reacted to dogs, they need a loving home without canine companions.

Both boys are neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and have a clean bill of health. Their new family should be committed to keeping them safely indoors, treating them as cherished family members, and welcoming both brothers together so they can continue sharing the companionship they have always known.

Could these affectionate, playful brothers be the double helping of feline friendship your family has been waiting to welcome? To learn more about adopting Kittycat and Tinker together, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

25. Madam

Senior (11 years 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Madam!

An affectionate eleven-year-old Domestic Short Hair currently in Reading, MA, whose essence is pure companionship wrapped in a sleek black coat and a wonderfully chatty personality.

At 12 pounds, Madam is a large, loving girl who believes life is better when her favorite humans are nearby! She is the kind of cat who greets you when you arrive, curls up beside you for a cozy snuggle, and happily keeps the conversation going with her signature vocal commentary. Think of her as a dog in a cat’s body, complete with enthusiastic greetings, constant companionship, and plenty of opinions to share!

Read more about Madam

Madam adores attention and would thrive with a person or family who is home regularly and enjoys having a devoted lap cat nearby. Daily petting and brushing are right up her alley, but she has a playful side, too! Small mouse toys are her absolute favorites, and she enjoys chasing them and batting at wand toys. Even at eleven, she knows how to make playtime fun!

This gentle girl is comfortable with children of all ages. She has been wonderful around school-aged children and has also been gentle with a two-year-old. Strangers do not faze her either. Even unfamiliar visitors and contractors are simply more people Madam might get to know!

Madam needs to be the only cat in her new loving home. Her compatibility with dogs has not been assessed. A senior, retired person, or family with plenty of time at home could be especially compatible with her affectionate, people-centered nature.

Madam has diabetes, which is currently managed with a once-daily pill given in soft food. Her recent lab work showed that her medication is working well, and her vaccinations are up to date. She is also spayed and microchipped. Her hind legs are weak, so she takes stairs slowly and would benefit from having her food, water, and litter box conveniently nearby.

Her new family will also receive her food, automatic feeder, water fountain, litter box, and toys to help make her transition comfortable and familiar. Madam is ready to fill her next chapter with cuddles, conversations, playful mouse chases, and loyal companionship! 27. Puck

Young (11 months) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 38 mi from Worcester

Puck is estimated to be 1 year old and is very new to foster care. He’s a neutered male up to date on vaccines. Although he is currently a solo cat, he has previously lived with another cat. Here’s what his foster volunteers say about him:

1. How would you describe the cat's general personality?

Read more about Puck

Puck is a quiet, curious, cool and playful little "hunter" and will become more and more social and people-oriented over time. He loves chasing toys, jumping, watching the outdoors, and observing everything around him. He enjoys being part of whatever is going on and likes to grab all your attention. But he is cool, and still prefers companionship on his own terms and does not always want to be touched.

2. Does the cat enjoy being pet?

Yes. Puck barely come over and ask for pets, but if you gently reach out and some time, he will let you pet his head.

If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?

Puck likes being petted on his head the most, especially around the top of his head and chin. This is where he is the most comfortable and relaxed.
Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?

Definitely NOT his rump.

3. Does the cat come on your lap?

No.

4. Does the cat like to be held?

We have never tried this before. He currently prefers to keep all four paws on the ground and interact with people without being restrained.

5. Does the cat sleep in your bed?

He frequently sleeps on our bed now that every morning we wake up and will see him lying next to us, maybe having a good dream (really really cute).

6. Does the cat seek your attention?

Yes. Puck loves to grab all the attention. He will sit or lie on the desk while we are studying or working, stare at us, get on the keyboard or textbooks. He also meows, scratches chairs and wall when he wants to play.

7. Does the cat like to play?

YES.

What are the cat's favorite games and toys?

He especially enjoys wand toys, toys with fur, and anything with feathers. He loves chasing moving toys and will sometimes bat or kick them away just so he can chase after them again. Interactive toys that let him stalk, chase, and pounce are always his favorites.

8. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make?
Puck barely "meow"s. He will occasionally meow when he wants attention.

9. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain.

Yes, but he also really enjoys scratching a variety of other surfaces. He likes scratching the mattress, blankets, chairs, the sofa, cardboard boxes, and sometimes even the wall.

10. Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain.
Yes.

11. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?
We give him unlimited dry food of a mix of Wellness and Instinct, a 3oz wet food can each day, and three piece of Greenies Dental Treats and Instinct Mixers. Even though it is unlimited, I think he only eats about 100g dry food each day.

Is the cat picky about food?

He is not a picky cat. He will eat a variety of foods, and we have found that salmon is definitely his favorite. He especially enjoys salmon-flavored can or treats.
What is the cat's favorite treat?

He likes all kinds of lickable cat treat, and he likes Greenies as well. Salmon flavor the best!

12. What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered?

N/A.

13. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?

3 times. When we tried to pet him.

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?

Once. When I tried to use a brush to brush him.

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?

28. Momo

Adult (7 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Momo!

A captivating seven-year-old Domestic Long Hair currently in Dallas, TX, whose big personality, expressive spirit, and luxurious tuxedo coat make this 12-pound girl impossible to overlook.

Momo is a wonderfully complex cat who forms deep, meaningful connections once she feels safe. With someone she trusts, she can be incredibly cuddly, affectionate, and loving. She enjoys being near the action on her own terms, lounging comfortably, gazing out the window, and chasing spring toys when playtime calls. Her independent streak is part of her charm, and she has strong opinions about when she wants company, space, or affection.

Read more about Momo

Momo needs an experienced, patient cat parent who understands feline boundaries and is comfortable allowing trust to develop gradually. She can be territorial and unpredictable with unfamiliar people and has a history of biting, scratching, and lunging, sometimes without an identifiable trigger. Because of these behaviors, Momo needs a calm, child-free home with one adult or a couple who can thoughtfully manage interactions and appreciate her exactly as she is. Introductions should be approached slowly, much like helping an undersocialized cat become comfortable in a new environment.

Although Momo appreciates having space, confinement tends to increase her stress. She would do well with access to a quiet, stable home where she can explore, observe, and decide when she is ready to participate. Momo currently lives with a dog and tolerates him, but she does not seek out a close or playful relationship. A thoughtful, gradual introduction would be important if her new family includes a dog, along with space for Momo to maintain her boundaries. She has also been around cats in the past, but it has been quite some time, so her current compatibility with cats is unknown and introductions should be approached slowly and carefully.

Momo previously experienced renal failure after exposure to lily pollen and recovered. She currently has no reported ongoing health conditions, is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. As with any cat, keeping lilies completely out of her environment is important!

Momo is not a beginner cat, but for an experienced caregiver who respects her signals, gives her room to decompress, and values the affection she offers once trust is earned, she could become a fascinating and deeply cherished companion. Her new chapter needs patience, stability, realistic expectations, and plenty of good window-watching spots.

Could you be the calm, cat-savvy person ready to let Momo set the pace and discover the loving connection waiting beneath that magnificent tuxedo coat? To learn more about adopting Momo, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

29. Figgy

Young (1 year 3 months) · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 34 mi from Worcester

Meet Figgy!

A sweet one-year-old Domestic Long Hair currently in La Quinta, CA, whose gentle spirit and big personality are wrapped in a handsome tuxedo coat.

At about eight pounds, Figgy is a medium-sized boy with a soft, beautiful look and a sensitive heart. He may not introduce himself as the life of the party, but give him time, patience, and a sense of security, and you may discover a wonderfully devoted companion waiting beneath that shy exterior.

Read more about Figgy

Figgy takes his relationships seriously. New people can be frightening for him, and his first instinct is often to hide and observe from a safe distance. He has formed a strong bond with one trusted person, showing just how affectionate he can become when someone earns his trust. Once comfortable, Figgy enjoys attention, seeks cuddles, follows his favorite person around, and happily embraces his role as a loyal little shadow.

His favorite pastimes include napping, romping through cat tunnels, and settling near a window to watch birds conduct their very important outdoor business. Between those peaceful naps and playful tunnel adventures, Figgy brings a charming mix of curiosity and coziness to the day.

Figgy needs a patient, cat-savvy pet parent who understands that trust may develop gradually. A calm approach, predictable routines, gentle interaction, and positive reinforcement can help him feel secure as he adjusts. He is not looking to be an instant social butterfly. Instead, his new family can enjoy the rewarding experience of watching his personality emerge at his own pace.

Although Figgy can initially be timid around cats, he currently does not get along with the resident cats in his family and must remain separated from them. For that reason, a loving home where he can be the solo pet would be suitable, allowing him to enjoy plenty of individual attention, affection, and playtime. His compatibility with dogs is unknown.

Figgy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and reported to be healthy with no known medical conditions. Ready to give this tender tuxedo boy the patience and love he needs to blossom? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about adopting Figgy and beginning a beautiful new chapter together!

30. Boo

I’m a 12-year-old lady who has spent my whole life with the same person. Sadly, my owner passed away, and suddenly everything I’ve ever known has changed.
As you can imagine, this new chapter is a little scary for me. I’m shy when I first meet people and may find a cozy hiding spot when I’m feeling unsure. I can be afraid of new faces, but once I’ve had time to learn that you’re safe, I start letting my sweet side show. ❤️
One of my favorite things is being brushed—it’s a wonderful way to help me relax and build trust with you.
I’ve never lived with other animals, so we don’t really know how I would feel about sharing my home. What I do know is that I’d love a quiet, patient home where I can settle in at my own pace without being rushed.

How to adopt from Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center

The first step is to fill out an adoption application, answering some basic questions about yourself and your household. This will help the adoption counselors facilitate the matchmaking process. Most adoptions take at least 45 minutes to one hour to complete. The Adoption Center is a busy place, so please be patient and allow yourself enough time for our process. THANK YOU! What we will need to know when you adopt a new companion: If you own your home, please bring some item of verification (tax bill, water bill, or mortgage statement.) Please also be sure to check your homeowner’s insurance policy. Some policies restrict coverage for certain dog breeds. If you DO NOT own your place of residence, please be sure the property owner will consent to have a pet on his/her property. We will verify with landlords over the phone before sending a new companion home, so please have the appropriate name and phone number available. Other pets already living with you will need to be up-to-date on vaccination. This is to decrease the risk of spreading infectious disease from one animal to another. It is important to understand that your new companion will be a member of your family. This can mean a 10-15 year commitment from you! Please bring along family members so we can make sure it will be a good match before you make a commitment. Also, if adopting a second dog, please bring your current dog with you---we can let them spend some time together and give you some suggest

Adopting a cat in Worcester

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
