10. Chirop
Young (3 years 3 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Male/DOB 4/5/2023
Read more about Chirop
Chirop is a sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He came to ACC after being found abandoned in an apartment building hallway. The shelter environment was overwhelming for him, and he was quickly placed on the at-risk list for euthanasia. Since being rescued, he's blossomed into the sweetest, most affectionate boy and is learning every day that people can be trusted. Chirop is a world-class cuddle bug who loves curling up on your lap or stretching out on your chest for a nap. Because he was neutered later in life, he sometimes shows his affection by humping soft blankets or pillows. It's simply one of his quirky habits and is not associated with aggression. When he's not snuggling, Chirop is all about playtime! He'll happily chase his favorite spring toy across the room or go into full hunter mode with a ⁰wand toy. He's endlessly curious, loves following his people from room to room, and will greet you at the door with an enthusiastic chorus of meows after you've been away. Chirop would thrive in a calm, patient home with someone who is around often and willing to let him settle in at his own pace. He can be a little shy when meeting new people and is still learning that hands are friends, not something to swat at. While he enjoys affection, he prefers not to be held for long periods and is happiest when he can choose when to cuddle. Although he hasn't been tested with other cats, we think he could do well in a home with a feline companion if given a slow, proper introduction. If you're looking for a playful, chatty, affectionate companion who just needs a little time to show his true self, Chirop may be your perfect match.

11. Nori
Kitten (7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Hi, I'm Nori!
My foster mom says I'm the sweetest little soul you'll ever meet. I'm a gentle tuxedo girl with a heart as soft as my fur. I may not be the loudest kitten in the room, but I have a special way of making people feel loved.
One of my favorite things to do is quietly curl up beside my foster mom. I don't need to be in the spotlight—I just love being close to my people, purring away to let them know how happy I am. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will melt your heart with quiet cuddles, I might be your perfect match.

Don't let my angelic personality fool you—I still have plenty of playful kitten energy! Wave a wand toy in front of me, and I'll happily chase, leap, and pounce until it's time for my next cuddle session.
I'm the perfect mix of gentle, playful, and loving. All I need now is a forever family with whom I can share my purrs, cuddles, and sweet little heart. Female/DOB: 3/5/26

12. Charlie
Male · Tabby (short coat)

MALE/DOB: 7/3/24
This sweet boy had a hard time on the street because he was being bullied by another cat and prevented from getting food. He was so skinny when we rescued him but look how handsome he is now. He will immediately greet you and roll over seeking pets. He's very calm... LOL until he sees food and will talk talk talk asking you to give it to him FAST! Charlie is such a gentle, special boy!
He will be a great companion for you and gets along with everyone including other cats!
13. Newton
Male · Tabby

DOB: 12/31/25. Male
Read more about Newton
Newton is a “Happy Wobbler”! He is a little cautious but very playful. He was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) which is known as “Wobbly Cat Syndrome”. He has a very mild case; it is a non-progressive neurological condition that affects his balance. It isn’t an illness, does not cause Newton pain, and is not contagious. He is just a little off-balance sometimes! Because of his CH, certain concessions need to be made in the home - no stairs , sharp edges, leaving Newton on a bed which he may jump off and get hurt. His foster mom will be able to tell you more and answer any questions! Newton would love a home with lots of rugs/carpets to help Newton keep his grip. We hope to find a family who sees that being “wobbly” just means having a little extra character! An ideal family for Newton would have experience with special needs cats and perhaps have a playful, young cat already in the home.
***Newton is a Broadway SUPERSTAR! Bebe Neuwirth fell in love with him at NYC's Broadway Barks this weekend and brought him onstage!! He did great!!
14. Kimchi
Kitten (4 months 3 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Male/DOB: 3/5/26
Hi, I'm Kimchi, a sweet gray and white lovebug with the cutest little gray spot under my chin—it's my signature look!
I'm an affectionate kitten who loves spending time with my people, but I'm also always ready for playtime. My favorite toys are wand toys, and I can leap, pounce, and chase them for hours. When I'm not busy showing off my acrobatic skills, you'll probably find me wrestling and playing tag with my sisters, Nori, Tofu, Miso, and Boba.

Because I've grown up surrounded by my siblings, I'd love a home with another playful feline friend to keep me company. If you don't already have a kitty at home, one of my sisters would make the perfect partner for me!
If you're looking for a kitten who's equal parts cuddly, playful, and adorable, I just might be your perfect match. I can't wait to meet my forever family!

Adopting a cat in Queens County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
