1. Shy

Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 37 mi from Huntersville

SHY and his siblings showed up at a local home back in June with their mama. While the residents knew they couldn’t keep them, they also couldn’t turn their backs. They fed and cared for them until the SCHS could finally take them in. Shy was nervous upon intake, but has really progressed. He enjoys the catio, and visiting with and getting affection from volunteers. He does great with other cats and is sure to be a good lap warmer.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. You may complete an application to start the adoption process at www.stanlycountyhumanesociety.org, under the 'Adoption' tab. Like us on facebook at Stanly County Humane Society Cats. SPARKY and his siblings showed up at a local home back in June with their mama. While the residents knew they couldn’t keep them, they also couldn’t turn their backs. They fed and cared for them until the SCHS could finally take them in. Sparky was the most social from the start. He likes to hang out with the other cats and enjoys getting lovin's. He'll blossom even more with time.

6. Velvet

Adult (1 year 5 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 37 mi from Huntersville

VELVET has been with the SCHS since she was a kitten. She was adopted and returned, and the only way we can explain why is because she's all-things quirky. She enjoys sitting on top of our stackable washer/dryer, to zoom around playing with the most minute piece of litter (or nothing at all), to chew on most things plastic, to sit on your lap for lovin's, and to help you with your homework, paperwork, etc. She doesn't like to be snuck up on, to be held a long time or to have other cats get all up in her face. AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! She's so much fun and a real bright spot in the cat room. Let's find the perfect quirky home for her!
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit.

11. Cinder

Adult (1 year 4 months) · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) · 37 mi from Huntersville

Beautiful CINDER came in as a timid stray kitten. She was adopted a few months later, but recently returned because she was still hiding. Her adopter thinks she needs a quieter home and we agree. Cinder needs someone who has the time to work with her socially. That simply means closing bedroom and bathroom doors when not in use (so she has fewer places to hide), playing with her and handling her a lot. Regular brushing is a good way to connect. She really is a sweet girl and does love people.
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. 14. Cleo

Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 11 mi from Huntersville

From her foster "Cleo "mama" as we like to call her. Has really come out of her shell since she isn't having to actively raise her babies anymore. She has become my shadow and follows me around the house all day. She loves to play with her babies and tolerates our 60 lb dog but does not love him by any means, she has zero reaction to our other cat even around her kittens. We have twin toddlers and she just avoids them. She is very slow to accept change but since I won her over she is extremely sweet and affectionate."

15. Maisey, Max and Milo

Young (10 months) · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 37 mi from Huntersville

COURTESY POST! FOR ADOPTION! When a stray mama gave birth to these three less than a year ago, it was always Henry's intention to find them homes. He's taken great care of them; all have been fixed, vaccinated and ear tipped, and are litter-trained. Fast forward through work days and family life...MAX, MAISEY and MILO are semi-feral and need a barn or an adopter willing to continue their socialization. They currently live in a catio. Let's help both Henry and these beautiful cats. Give him a call at 980-365-7568 for more information.

16. Sassy

Adult (1 year 10 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 37 mi from Huntersville

SASSY was an outdoor neighborhood cat when a resident noticed she was pregnant. She was taken in and gave birth to three mini-me kittens. Initially, skittish, she has come a long way. Loud noises or actions may still make her nervous, but she’s otherwise calm and will benefit greatly by living in a quiet home and getting lots of lovin's. She has a great maternal instinct and enjoys getting attention. The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. Why adopt an adult cat in Huntersville

An adult cat's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are used to family life.

Grown cats are calmer and need less supervision than kittens, which suits people who work long hours or have young children.
