Mannie, Marko, Minna, Mia and Mira where trapped but once caught they were actually friendly. They have done really well in their foster home and are sweet, playful kittens. Mira was the hardest kitten of the group to catch. She is very smart, talky, loves pets and has the most beautiful best soft fuzzy coat. She has a very sweet purr, kneads her paws and really really wants to be someone's best friend but she can get a little unsure. She will be a great companion for someone who is willing to have a bit of patience with her. They are FIV/Leukemia negative, current on vaccine, flea and worm treated and microchip. Their approx. Alfred has has already had lot of disappointments in his short life. His was surrendered when he was one to a shelter in Rhode Island and adopted shortly after receiving his vet care and being neutered. He is FIV/Leukemia negative, current on vaccines, flea and worm treated and microchip. His approx. DOB is 9/27/2023.

6. Snowbell

3 Months 18 Days · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 29 mi from Washington Court House

Meet Snowbell!

Snowbell’s story started in the most heartbreaking way—she was found all alone inside a trash can and brought to Dash Animal Rescue. Thankfully, she is now safe, loved, and ready to find her forever home.

Read more about Snowbell

Snowbell is an absolute sweetheart! She loves to play, loves to snuggle, and loves being around her people. She has so much love to give and is looking for someone who will give her the safe, loving home she deserves. Snowbell did test positive for feline leukemia (FeLV), so she will need to be the only cat in the home or live with another FeLV-positive kitty. This sweet girl’s diagnosis doesn’t define her—she is playful, affectionate, and ready to fill someone’s life with love and purrs.

If you’re looking for a special little girl who has already overcome so much, Snowbell may be your perfect match!

8. Nat

Young · Female · Tortoiseshell / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 40 mi from Washington Court House

This is Nat. She showed up pregnant at a family's house. They had an appointment to have her spayed, but the day before her surgery, she had 6 kittens. The babies were born on July 27 and are now in new homes or are looking for homes. Nat is ready for her own cushy life, too.

Nat will be going on November 14 to be spayed and vaccinated and get any other vet care she needs. After that, she will be ready to head to a new home.

Nat is just an overgrown kitten herself. She is about a year old.

Read more about Nat

Nat is extremely sweet and gentle. She loves wet food, windows, catnip toys, and your lap. She is a super lap kitty who would love to hang out with you wherever you are sitting down.

Nat's daughter, Chanterelle, is also looking for a home. If the pair were adopted together, there would only be one adoption fee.

Nat would be good with other cats, cat savvy children, and could be introduced to a cat friendly dog.

9. Mimi

Young · Female · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 40 mi from Washington Court House

Poor Mimi (formerly just called Momma Kitty) was a momma cat to a litter of six babies (four that have now found homes) and was living on a concrete sidewalk outside of an apartment building. A nice lady was feeding her. When it rained, Mimi would take the kittens and move them under a bush. When the sun was shining, she fed them on the sidewalk.

A concerned cat lover was worried about the kittens and Mimi and reached out to several people who all got involved to save this sweet girl. Mimi and the kittens were taken inside and began their journey to pampered house cats.

Read more about Mimi

Mimi is still only really a kitten herself at about a year and a half old. She has been spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV, and treated preventatively for fleas/dewormed.

Mimi is still a little shy and is just learning what it is like to be safe. She is learning how to play and now likes to sleep on the bed with her caregiver. She is learning to trust and is becoming a very, very sweet girl.

We would like to see Mimi adopted with one of her remaining kittens, either Pan (male) or Freya (female). If she is adopted with one of the babies, there is only one adoption fee.

If you would like more information on Mimi, please email us at bandocats@gmail.com and request an adoption application.

11. Roman

Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 40 mi from Washington Court House

Roman was the outside kitty of a lady who is having to re-home her cats due to dementia. Roman was used to being fed on her front porch. Since the lady has to go to assisted living, we took Roman in.

Roman could be a barn kitty, an inside/outside kitty, or an inside only cat for someone who does not mind that he does not like to be picked up and prefers pets on his own terms. He is a sensitive boy and just needs someone who understands that it frightens him to be picked up.

Read more about Roman

Roman does like to be petted, but he gets overstimulated and will let you know with a soft paw swat when he has had too much. For this reason, he could not be in a home with children.

Roman is friendly and does like head rubs and to have his face rubbed. He is also a talker and will talk to you.

Roman likes other cats. He was hanging around with another cat on the front porch of the former caregiver's home.

Roman is about 2-years-old. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV, treated preventatively for fleas/ticks, dewormed, and microchipped.

If you have a safe space where this sweet boy can land since he has lost his home, please email us at bandocats@gmail.com

Meet Buffy!

Read more about Buffy

Buffy was found all alone at a gas station in the bushes, screaming for help, without any siblings or mama in sight. Once she was safe, this little ball of energy was able to show her personality and let loose. Buffy is a vocal gal who isn’t afraid to tell you how she feels. She loves to play, but she loves to love. She will sweetly suckle on blankets while settling in for a nap, and can also be found running around playing with or snoozing with her foster brother Lou. Because of their sweet bond, these two must be adopted together. Buffy is hilarious and has such a big personality in a tiny body. How to adopt from Colony Cats (& dogs)

We have an application that requires the potential adopter to wait until their application can be verified. Once everything checks out the adopter comes and picks up their new fur member of the family and signs a contract. One of the highlights of our contract states that if for ANY reason at ANY time they cannot care for the animal, they must return the cat or dog back to Colony Cats (& dogs). Our adoption fees are $125 for kittens 6 months and younger; $75 for kittens over 6 months and adults up to 7 years; $50 for 7 years and older. If adopting 2 kittens/cats at the same time there is a $25 discount. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, Feline Leukemia and FIV tested (cats), heartworm tested (dogs), microchip, flea prevention, vaccinations (FVRCP for cats and DHLPP for dogs), rabies vaccine (if kittens or puppies are old enough to receive a rabies vaccine). If not, the new owner will need to go to their vet to get this done.

Adoption application. We check references and call vet. There is a $75 adoption fee, but all of our cats are sterilized, vaccinated, and tested for feline leukemia/FIV prior to adoption. We do not adopt to anyone who wants to declaw, but we do not advertise that fact until after the person fills out the application--we do not want them to lie to us if they know they cannot get the cat and declaw. We have them sign an agreement that the cat will come back to us if for any reason they do not want it.

Adopting a cat in Washington Court House

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
