1. Kitten Spot

Kitten · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat)

Meet Spot!
Spot is 5 months old, white with the most perfect black spots, and 100% convinced he is a dog.
He doesn't just walk into a room — he trots in, with that fluffy black tail in the air. He comes when called, follows you from room to room like a shadow, brings you his toys to play fetch, and will happily sit on your feet while you work. He loves a good pillow nap, but he'd rather be right next to you than anywhere else.
Found napping, playing, and posing like a pro, Spot has mastered:

The head-tilt stare that says "throw it again"
The paw-up "shake" (we're still working on it, but he's got the spirit)
The classic flop-and-roll for belly rubs
Guarding his favorite sage-green pillow like it's his job

He's playful, people-focused, curious, and incredibly sweet. Spot would love a home where he can be your little sidekick — on the couch, by the desk, or patrolling the hallway like the good boy he knows he is.
He's not a cat who thinks he's a dog. He's a dog who happens to look like a cat.
Age: 5 months Likes: pillows, people, toys that jingle, being included in everything Dislikes: being ignored, closed doors Superpower: making you laugh at least 10 times a day
Think you need a dog? Maybe you just need Spot.

Meet Shrimp!
This pint-sized guy is a bit of a wallflower, but don't let his shy nature fool you he’s taking it all in. Shrimp prefers to be the spectator rather than the star of the party, politely watching the action unfold from a cozy, safe spot.
While he might take a little extra time to warm up to new surroundings, you can easily win his heart with one simple thing a Churu treat. Offer him a tube of deliciousness, and you'll watch his cautious exterior melt away as he snacks, purrs, and receives lots of pets.

6. Moose

Young · Male · Tuxedo

Meet Moose!
Moose is not your average house cat — he's a large gray tuxedo gentleman in a crisp white bib and mittens, and he knows he looks good.
This young adult male is big, soft, and wonderfully sturdy. He loves to be near his people, whether that's supervising from the couch, leaning in for chin scratches, or flopping over to show off that handsome tuxedo belly. He's playful in that goofy young-adult way — feather wands, crinkle balls, and batting toys around — but he also has a calm, affectionate side and is happy to just loaf next to you.
Moose is FIV+. What does that mean? It just means he carries the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

Read more about Moose

FIV+ cats can and do live long, happy, completely normal lives indoors. It can't be transmitted to people or dogs, and it spreads only through deep bite wounds between cats. Moose can live safely with other cats — especially other mellow cats — and many FIV+ and FIV- cats live together happily. He just needs to stay indoors, eat well, and get regular vet checkups like any cat.
If you're looking for a big, sweet, dapper companion with a lot of love to give, Moose is your guy. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com

Meet Braveheart! This sweet boy came from a feral colony site with 80 cats we helped tnr. He was tnred as he would constantly run from us. While in recovery from his neutering we noticed he would try to be brave and come get some pets. It did take us some time to earn him trust and will in his new home but he is totally worth it. He is extremely sweet and just wants constant pets now. He does still get nervous with things and will take off with loud noises but if you sit and have patience with him he will come back for the love. He even will yell at you if you stop petting him. He does love other cats and enjoys chasing and play wrestling with them so a home with another cat would be the best fit for him.

But Petey has a very sweet side, too. ❤️ His favorite place might just be up on your shoulder, where he can climb up, snuggle in close, and happily purr away while taking in the world from his favorite spot.

26. Kitten Boba

Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed

Meet Boba — 5 months old, 100% void, 100% sweetheart.
This handsome house panther has mastered the art of the loaf, the slow blink, and finding the highest spot in the room to supervise from. By day he's a sunbeam chaser and toy hunter. By night, a purring lap warmer with the loudest motor you've ever heard.
Don't let the serious green eyes fool you — he's still very much a baby who gets the zoomies at 2am and thinks every shoelace is a snake that must be defeated.
Currently accepting treats, chin scratches, and applications for Best Friend.

27. Kitten Lord Sock

Young · Male · Tuxedo / Mixed

Lord Sock is a 5-month-old tuxedo kitten who takes his name very seriously. He arrives fully dressed in a crisp black coat, white chest, and four little white socks — as if he got ready for a gala and then decided to run around the house instead.
At 5 months, he's all kitten: playful, bouncy, hilarious, and wildly curious. He loves wand toys, crinkle balls, wrestling with his friends, and then collapsing for a long, dramatic nap in a sunbeam.
Lord Sock is sweet, people-oriented, and chatty. He will follow you for pets, supervise your work, and graciously allow you to share his couch. He uses his litter box perfectly, loves to be held like a baby (for exactly 37 seconds before he has to go play again), and has a purr you can hear from across the room.
He would love a home with lots of playtime and maybe another friendly cat or gentle dog to keep up with his royal shenanigans.

28. Kitten Stella

Young · Female · Tortoiseshell / Mixed

Meet Stella!
Stella is a 5-month-old tortoiseshell kitten and she is absolutely stunning in person. Her coat is a beautiful mosaic of black, caramel, and copper — no two patches the same — and her amber eyes miss nothing.
True to tortie form, Stella has opinions and she loves to share them. She's confident, clever, and affectionate on her own terms. One minute she's an acrobat chasing a feather toy mid-air, the next she's curled in your lap purring like a little motorboat.
Stella is bright, playful, and very people-oriented. She loves to talk, especially when it's dinner time or when she has decided you haven't petted her enough.

She's litter-box perfect, loves sunbeams and window watching, and will make you laugh every single day.
She would thrive in a home that appreciates a kitty with character — someone who wants a best friend, not just a decoration. If you've never had a tortie before, Stella will show you why tortie lovers never go back.

Adult (8 years 11 months) · Male · Domestic Long Hair

*Tigger is a courtesy listing. Here is what his caretaker has to say:Like his sister, Tigger is also very sweet but a little shy in new surroundings. He will take a bit to warm up and likes to hide. Once Tigger warms up to a person he wants love. He is very talkative especially at night. He is front declawed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered.Jilly and Tigger are brother and sister who came from a very loving home, there owner, my MIL, unfortunately passed away and my FIL moved out of the country and was unable to take them along. My husband and I brought them into our homes but unfortunately can not keep them. We have been searching for a good forever home!Ideally I would like both cats to go to the same house, they been around my dogs but have been kept in a separate room. They have lived with other cats. Both are a bit skittish but very sweet cats. Uses litterboxes well.

Adopting a cat in Monroe County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
