1. Dollar C
Adult · Male · Tuxedo (short coat) · 3 mi from Norwood

LAP CAT ALERT!!! Meet Dollar — a sensitive, affectionate cat with a gentle heart and a deep love for being close to his person.
Dollar is the kind of cat who will happily curl up in your lap for as long as you will let him. He is a true companion cat who simply wants to be near you, whether you are relaxing on the couch or even just sitting down for a quiet moment.
Because Dollar is a sensitive soul, he does best with a calm and patient environment. If voices get loud, he will quietly retreat to his favorite safe spot until things feel peaceful again. He is very in tune with his humans and seems to understand when he has done something that is not allowed.
He is not especially interested in traditional cat toys like balls, springs, or wand toys, but bring out a laser pointer and Dollar comes to life.
Read more about Dollar C
It is by far his favorite kind of playtime, and watching his excitement is sure to make you smile.
Dollar has a squeaky little meow, long legs, and an easygoing attitude about where he sleeps. As long as he feels safe and comfortable, he is happy to settle in just about anywhere.
Dollar came from a home with many other cats and is now looking for a fresh start after his former owner unfortunately lost their housing. Through it all, he has remained a loving and adaptable companion.
He gets along well with other cats and kittens, but he has not been around dogs or children, so slow introductions would be best if either are part of his future home. Dollar would likely thrive in a quieter household with someone who appreciates a loyal lap cat and understands that sensitive cats blossom when they feel secure.
Dollar is estimated to be 5 to 7 years old. He is playing with his foster family and the resident cat and is enjoying watching the world through the front window.

13. Sensei
Adult · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 4 mi from Norwood

Meet SENSEI. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home. After all he has been through, could YOU be the one he has been waiting for?
Read his heartbreaking story below.
For days, he wandered back and forth, crying into the quiet night like he was calling for someone who had simply forgotten to come back for him. Anyone who heard him could feel it—this wasn’t just a stray cat. He was looking for home.
The first time volunteers went out to find him, he was gone. They searched for over an hour, calling softly, hoping he’d answer. But the night stayed still.
Then came a message—he’s back.
Read more about Sensei
Within minutes, one of the volunteers returned. And there he was, eating quietly, as if exhaustion had finally outweighed his fear. When she reached for him, he didn’t run. He didn’t fight. He allowed himself to be picked up, gently placed into a carrier—like he still trusted that being chosen meant he was safe.
When they scanned him and found a microchip, hope filled the room. This had to be it. After everything, he was going home.
But he wasn’t.
At 11 years old, “Sensei” had already lived several lives. Adopted at three, forgotten years later. Found again by someone who cared, who gave him warmth, who even claimed him as their own when no one else came forward.
For a little while, it seemed like he had finally found his place.
Until he didn’t.
Two months after being loved and wanted, he was gone again—left to cry outside, searching, waiting, hoping. This time, no one came looking. Not the first person. Not the second. Not even the third, who once called him theirs.
Three times, he gave his heart away.
Three times, he was left behind.
And still… he trusted.
That first night in safety, he drank nearly 20 ounces of water, as if his body was trying to recover from everything his heart had endured. But he didn’t stop being gentle. He didn’t stop being loving.
Now, he rests somewhere warm, finally able to sleep without fear.
Soon, he will be given another chance.
Somehow, despite everything, he still believes that the next person won’t leave. Will that next person be you?
Despite a rough start, he remains a loving, cuddly companion who adores pets and affection. While he isn't a lap cat, he tolerates being held briefly and loves hanging out near his favorite person. Sensei strongly fears other cats and must be in a home with no other pets.
If you would like to be that special someone who can provide Sensei with the true forever home he had been in search of, please complete the adoption application below.

How to adopt from Animal Coalition of Delaware County, Inc.
We believe in an adoption approach that considers important details for finding the right fit, such as a person's home, interests and lifestyle. We then match those with an animal's social, exercise and training needs. Unlike “pass/fail” application programs, we strive to match people and animals through education and discovery. We accomplish this through conversation to create an effective, pleasant adoption experience — and most important — to make lasting matches. Each situation, adopter and animal requires a different approach. And while we reserve the right to refuse an adoption, we always make every effort to work with you to address concerns or find the most appropriate companion animal. Before falling in love with one of our animals, please make sure that you are: At least 21 years of age In possession of a valid photo ID Allowed to have a cat or dog where you live (proof of home ownership or copy of lease with pet clause allowing pets is required) Able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for the animal Able to provide veterinary references for current and past veterinarians PLEASE ALLOW 4-5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO BE THOROUGHLY PROCESSED BY ONE OF OUR ADOPTION COUNSELORS If the animals are still listed on our website they are still available. Adopting a cat in Norwood
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
