Lunessa -
Meet sweet gentle Lunessa, found living outside emaciated. Beautiful, gentle, white & black cow pattern. Estimated to be approx 10 years old. Initially she was very shy, stayed at the back of the cage. We can only guess about her past, but no doubt she had home at one time. She has really come out of her shell. She loves pets and affection and will indicate that she wants attention and pets by gently coming up to you and extending her head towards you. She is such a sweet girl and will definitely be a wonderful, affectionate friend to someone.
Given her age and quiet nature I think she would do best in a quiet home, either as an only cat or with another gentle cat.

Senior · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 89 mi from Scranton

Hi! My name is Nickel, because when I came to the shelter they found a nickel in my carrier! I am a sweet boy who was living outdoors and a kind person cared for me for many months and then brought me here to find my forever home. One of my ears looks a bit crumpled but is perfectly healthy and makes me look even more adorable! I am a bit shy, but with patience, time and treats, I will soon be your best friend! I am on a special diet to prevent GI issues and I am also positive for FIV, and the staff can give you more information about that. I get along well with other cats and can live with cats who do not have FIV as long as they also get along with others.

8/23/2026

9. Toby
Senior (13 years 2 months) · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat) · 69 mi from Scranton

This gentle orange and cream boy knew only one home. He shared his space with a dog pal, curled up with his family, and trusted that he was loved. But when his family decided to get a puppy, Toby was surrendered—discarded simply because he was no longer shiny and new. To make matters worse, Toby was left with unmonitored diabetes and a coat so matted that his fur had to be shaved off in 2 spots. He had gone three full years without seeing a vet. Brokenhearted and neglected, Toby crashed soon after he arrived at Eleventh Hour Rescue. But Toby’s story didn't end there. Now Toby is safe in foster care, and his resilience will break your heart in the best way possible.
Read more about Toby
Despite everything he’s been through, he harbors no resentment. He is a non-stop purr machine—a true "motorboat"— who wants nothing more than to curl into a soft meatloaf on your lap, make gentle biscuits, and rub his face against you—claiming you as his person, and promising that he is yours. Toby doesn't just tolerate being groomed—it is his absolute favorite thing in the world. He will happily roll onto his back, offering his belly to be brushed, leaning into every stroke with pure bliss. What Toby Needs: We are looking for a very specific, compassionate soul. Someone who understands that a senior cat’s love is a quiet, profound privilege, and who sees his care not as a burden, but as an act of devotion. Diet-Controlled Diabetes: Toby’s diabetes is currently completely managed by diet alone—no insulin injections required! Dog Friendly: He previously lived peacefully with a pit mix and loves canine friends. Young at Heart: He still gets playful bursts of joy, chasing laser lights and tossing catnip toys! He deserves to spend his golden years with someone who promises to never walk away from him. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle, resilient soul who will love you with every purr he has left, please reach out. Toby is waiting for you! If interested, please fill out an application at EHRcats.org.

13. Brownie
Senior (10 years 2 months) · Female · Tortoiseshell / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 83 mi from Scranton

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOE THIS SENIOR KITTY!
Read more about Brownie
Brownie was found as a stray, terribly emaciated. Help was urgently needed, so we stepped up to cover her vet visit, as her finders could not afford that. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and is trying to come back from that being untreated. She is under our vet for care, doing well and slowly gaining weight. She is estimated to be at least 10 years old. She is FeLV/FIV negative and vaccinated. If you can open your heart and home to this sweet, senior gal that was tossed out by someone, please email katymk@ptd.net and complete the below online application. She is looking for a home she can retire in and be spoiled like she has never been before. A foster with a room for her even is appreciated, as she needs more space and someone with time to spend loving her. She’s a sweetheart!
