*Magnus is a courtesy listing. Here is what his caretaker has to say:This is Magnus. He most certainly knows his name by now. He is litter box trained & has been around other cats as well as children. He has encountered a dog but they were not the friendliest dog, so Magnus just ran, I am not sure how he would do with a friendly one. He is gentle, so sweet, still skittish, and keeps to himself around my other four cats I currently have.

Although she and her siblings were born outside to a cute little black and white momma cat, they seem to have some Scottish fold DNA.

16. Valentino
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 24 mi from Tamaqua

Meet Valentino - a husky personality in a cat suit! He’s a gorgeous, diluted orange-and-white fellow who was recently neutered via a local TNR program (hence his stylish ear-tip). He is a safe and well-cared-for outdoor kitty. However, Valentino is a small chatty cat with a massive personality, as many orange boys do. Valentino has made it very clear that he thinks he is destined for a more luxurious life, with more attention than his current feral foster mom can give him.
If you’ve ever wanted someone to celebrate when you come home, Valentino is your frontman!
Read more about Valentino
The Ultimate Welcome Committee: Valentino is a young adult cat with a voice like an old, beautiful, chain-smoking jazz legend. If you leave the house, he bellows a tragic ballad; when you return, he loudly rasps a joyous anthem to celebrate your return. He would be the perfect match for someone who loves a chatty companion. Or someone is easily distracted. He won’t let you forget to feed and adore him!
A Bit of Orange "Spice": Valentino is very affectionate; he loves chin scratches, snugs, and lets you hold him. He gets the most adorable acrobtic zoomies on occasion. He's playful and "highly" responsive to catnip.
The Dream Setup: Valentino’s dream scenario is an owner who loves spending time relaxing on a porch, patio, or in a sunroom, where Valentino can lounge right beside them and soak up the love. Whether he becomes a pampered indoor cat (Yes! He uses a litter box!) or the king of a secure porch, he just wants a dedicated audience.
Our Safety-Net Promise: We want Valentino to find his true forever fans. If you are willing to give this passionate, quirky guy a shot, we offer a total safety net: if it turns out not to be the right fit, his foster mom will gladly take him back, no questions asked. Valentino is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to bring a lot of character, loyalty, and raspy conversation to your life!
If you have interest, please file your application and Valentino's foster mom will respond ASAP!!

18. Arwen
5 Years 7 Months · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 24 mi from Tamaqua

*Ari is a courtesy listing. Here is what her caretaker has to say:Theo and Ari are brother and sister, born about 01DEC2020, and are approximately 6 and a half years old. They are very bonded and must stay together. They are both strictly indoor only, and do not attempt to go outside. I have owned cats my entire life, and these are the most well mannered and reserved cats I have ever had. Both cats only meow to say hello, and would not be caught begging for food; they will wait patiently at your side. They both love cuddles, and will take turns spending time with you, as well as lay together with you or on a comfy spot.
Read more about Arwen
They have lived with kids, but would prefer a quiet house. They really become themselves once the kids are asleep and they can hang out with just me. Both of them are shy, and will be very shy with new owners for probably at least a month. But once warmed up, they have nothing but love.
Arwen (Ari)Ari is an adorable, brown tortie tabby. She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she makes up for it with pure love and affection. Ari will not think twice about going to a stranger for pets. She loves to sit with you in bed, on the couch, or where ever just to steal a few pets or or to spend some time. She has nothing but love to give, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Her favorite thing to do is sleep with or near you. She also loves playing, but she might be the worst hunter I have ever seen... haha. She is all around a friendly, loving, couch potato princess.

Theo will wait in the background until his his turn to come up and get some cuddles. He loves sitting or laying with you to watch a movie or TV show. He loves sleeping next to you or on your legs at night in bed. And he absolutely loves to eat. He might pick on his sister a little bit sometimes, but when it comes down to it he is just a big softy and wants to lay and cuddle with her. He acts too cool for school, but just wants all the pets and love in the world. He is okay sitting with you, or playing fetch with little bursts of energy.

20. Luna
3 Years 2 Months · Female · Domestic Short Hair · 24 mi from Tamaqua

*Luna is a courtesy listing. Here is what her caretaker has to say:
Luna is a cuddly, affectionate, and playful 3-year-old black cat. She is healthy, spayed, and up to date on all of her shots & vaccines.
Luna is truly a good and loving cat, a good fit for anyone looking for an affectionate and loyal companion. Her only flaw is that she doesn’t get along with other animals. Otherwise, she is pretty low maintenance. She has never been aggressive towards any human. She licks and head-butts us, but has NEVER tried to bite or scratch us or any of our guests.
She was surrendered by her long-time owner in January.
Read more about Luna
We adopted her, hoping to alleviate her fear and give her a sense of freedom that she could not receive at the shelter. Since we have another cat, our small apartment is not a good fit for her. For the safety of our other cat, we have to confine her to a bedroom for most of the day. Our hope is to find her a forever home, so that she can experience the full commitment and freedom that we can’t provide for her. As previously mentioned, she doesn’t get along with other animals, so her forever home would need to include no other pets. We’re not 100% sure how she behaves around children, but she is easily startled by loud noises and sudden movements, so we assume that a family with young children would not be a good fit for her.
She takes a few days to adjust to new environments, but once she gets comfortable, she becomes curious and playful. She loves birdwatching through a nice big window, curling up next to her favorite human, and chin scratches.

Adopting a cat in Tamaqua
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
