Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 77 mi from Redmond

Tide is a 6 month old classic black and white tuxedo boy with a friendly face and a nice long tail. Tide is a poised gentleman with a really funny meow that makes him sound ancient! He loves being a part of all the a lion around here- eating, sleeping, playing, chewing and running about. Tide is currently being fostered with 2 of his litter mates (Ajax and Windex), 3 other fosters, 2 kittens we recently adopted from a litter we fostered, a Grampa Cat (which finds all the kittens annoying) and Katie, our 6 year old Corgi. We have a very full, busy house. We get frequent family visits who also love the kittens and exposure to an additional goldendoodle that finds the kittens WAY more interesting than Katie does.

6. Mira
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 77 mi from Redmond

Mira is a one-and-a-half-year-old Tuxedo cat with a personality as bold as his markings. Thanks to his absolute love for his exercise wheel, he has a very slender, athletic build. He sports several distinct markings, including unique patterns around his eyes that make it look like he’s wearing mascara.Mira is a rambunctious, loving boy who is truly the life of the party. Brimming with energy, he seems to take his life inspiration from Jim Carrey movies, channeling that comedic, high-octane spirit into everything he does. If you call his name, he will gladly "yell" back and forth with you, often following up the conversation by hiding behind a wall to play peek-a-boo.

Occasionally, he’ll drift into a "thousand-yard stare," looking completely perplexed by the mysteries of the world around him.Health & HabitsDietary Needs: Mira has some gastrointestinal sensitivities that require special care. We have successfully managed these with a specific diet, which will need to be maintained in his new home.Quirks: He has a habit of chewing on plastic; while he doesn't seem to swallow it, his adopters should keep an eye on him to keep him safe. Mira is very intelligent and can be very persistent when he sets his mind to get something he wants! The Ideal Match: The best home for Mira would be one that is patient and affectionate. While he is a loving boy, his high energy makes him a bit of a handful! He would excel in a home with plenty of enrichment opportunities to keep him occupied and keep his mind sharp. He can be shy around new people and may get spooked and hide initially, so he needs a family that will let him settle in at his own pace. Mira is currently in a household with other cats and does very well with them. He has lived with dogs and children, though watch him closely, as he can become impatient with too much stimulation and may try to scratch. Mira loves to snuggle right next to his person at bedtime, but he’s not a bed hog. Just a very sweet boy. All of our cats come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and with age-appropriate vaccinations. Young cats have an adoption fee of $175. If you would like to apply to be a forever home for this cat, please fill out a statement of interest at www.alternativehumanesociety.com. When you get home from a long day, she will be right there to let you know you are loved. She enjoys a good play session and goes crazy for a laser pointer. She does not, however, like other cats. She is very territorial and gets fixated on them which makes her anxious. Even the sight of other cats stresses her out. She is also very picky with food. She has a sensitive stomach and can only eat really small amounts of wet food, gradually given over time. Otherwise, she eats dry food just fine but hasn't found one that she really loves yet. She needs a large covered cat box to help contain her many kicks of litter.Myrtle would thrive in a nice quiet home with no other cats where she can be the center of attention. She seems to do fine with the small resident dog. Myrtle would do best in a home with either no children, or older children that understand love-bites, so likely tweens and older would be the best fit. If you are a patient, experienced cat person looking for a solo cat companion, Myrtle would love to meet you!All of our cats come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and with age-appropriate vaccinations. Adult cats have an adoption fee of $150. If you would like to apply to be a forever home for this cat, please fill out a statement of interest at www.alternativehumanesociety.com. 8. Poppy
Adult (3 years 1 month) · Female · American Shorthair / Tuxedo / Mixed (short coat) · 62 mi from Redmond

Got an extra cat bed and a big heart? I'm looking for a patient, loving person who will give me the time I need to blossom. I was rescued from under a house with my five kittens, and its been quite a journey. My foster mom says I'm the gentlest cat she's ever known — I would never bite or swat. For most of my nearly two years, I didn't know people could be a source of love and comfort. I was a devoted mom who always let my babies eat first and kept them safe when things got scary. Then something wonderful happened: I discovered pets, purring, and even laps! Im still learning, and I sometimes hide when I feel unsure, but Im doing it less and less. More and more, Im coming out to watch the household action and even join in.

I love being around other cats and don't mind dogs. Im a litter-box pro and, best of all, I've decided I never want to live outside again. I'm ready to become the soft, spoiled housecat I was meant to be. I just need someone who believes in me and will be patient while I learn how wonderful life can be. Maybe you're my special someone?

Bringing a cat home to your dog
Tell the rescue about your dog: their size, age and energy. A cat who has lived with a calm dog may still be nervous around a bouncy puppy.
Introduce them slowly. Keep the cat in a room of their own for the first few days, swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, and then let them meet with the dog on a leash.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, and keep the litter box and food bowls out of the dog's way.
