Meteor Beam
Kitten · Male · Domestic Medium Hair

Hello! My name is Meteor Beam, though my friends call me Meteor. I'm a gray tuxedo boy with the softest medium length fur and hazel green eyes. I'm going on six months-old, still full of kitten energy but growing into my "catolescent" form. I was brought into Wild Blue with my two siblings and they quickly realized we were both scared and sick. My Wild Blue friends made sure I grew healthy, and patiently waited to see if I would warm up to life indoors. It has taken me months of gentle coaxing to open my heart to humans. Now I'm playing with and even cuddling with my foster family.
I still have a ways to go, but they all agree that I'm a super sweet guy who's worth the extra effort.
I'm a gentle soul, so I am extremely shy with new people and animals. I was born outside to a feral mama who taught me that caution means survival. It has taken a lot of time and plenty of tender care for me to decide that some humans are worth trusting. I am still very selective about my people, and will likely pick out a favorite person to rely on. Please don't take it personally if I treat others in the family as the "spare humans". Once you do earn my trust I am a total love bug, ready to come to you for playtime and treats. If you're my favorite, I'll even hop into your lap for pets and snuggles. I'm gaining confidence around noises and fast movements, but facing these things in large open spaces overwhelm me. Giving me a cozy, manageable space to start, then letting me expand on that territory at my own pace is key. I do love wand play, chasing after lasers, fetch with nerf balls, and chowing down on tube treats. Giving me lots of positive distractions like these help me adjust to new situations. Having a quiet cat cave or cat tree to retreat to when I need a reset is also important. My sweet, shy personality means I must go to a calm, cat savvy home willing to meet me where I'm at. No dogs or young children please - not even the gentle ones. I do love the company of other cats, seeking out a friendly playmate whenever I can. I love to wrestle with my foster sister, and try to cuddle with my foster uncle, but retreat quickly when they tell me they've had enough. I long for a furry snuggle friend, as that was my favorite thing to do with my littermates. I will warm up to adults and older kids who respect my space and approach me slowly. My fosters recommend that my new family either have some experience reading cat body language, or thick skin and patience.
I am fully litterbox trained, and do excellent with both flat pads and vertical scratching posts. It took me so long to come around to human touch, that I am still learning how to accept brushing and nail trimming. I have started practicing though, and just need a family that will patiently continue the process. I recently discovered that kitchen tables are an exciting place to hang out, but I am a very good boy that responds to gentle, verbal reminders. I am neutered, FELV tested and up to date on my vaccines, including rabies. Though I was born outside I did not have enough time or training with mom to develop outdoor skills, so I must be an indoor only cat. So far I prefer it that way, hanging close to my familiar spots and people rather than seeking adventure. Chasing after toss toys and watching a little TV with my family is plenty thrill for me. If you're someone who can recognize a hidden gem and you're willing to give me the chance to shine, then please fill out an application online. I'd love to meet you in my foster home to see if we can be a forever family.
