Physical Description
Velvet is a beautiful black short-haired kitten with a coat as soft and smooth as black velvet. As the largest kitten in her litter of five, she carries herself with a quiet confidence and a touch of big-sister wisdom—though she's still very much a playful kitten at heart.

Personality

While Gracie, the foster family's dog is fascinated by the kittens, Velvet seems largely unaware that a 60-pound dog shares her space. She calmly walks past the dog as if she's invisible and tolerates the occasional slobbery kiss with the composure of a kitten twice her age. After a busy day of kitten business, Velvet is happy to settle down for cuddles, accompanied by a soft, gentle purr that perfectly matches her calm and loving personality, usually from the top of the kitten sized cat tree. She enjoys being cuddled and receiving affection from her humans. She's the kind of kitten who can keep up with the fun while also bringing a little balance and common sense to the group. Because kittens thrive with companionship and learn important social skills from one another, Velvet must be adopted with another kitten or into a home with a friendly, playful resident cat. She loves having feline friends and will be happiest in a home where she has a companion to play, nap, and grow up with.
Velvet's specialties include: Wrestling with her siblings Knowing exactly when enough is enough Looking impossibly elegant in black velvet fur Producing the sweetest little purr Treating a giant pit bull as a minor household inconvenience Being the sensible one... most of the time
If you're looking for a kitten who is equal parts playful, loving, and velvety-soft, Velvet is ready to bring her gentle charm to her forever home.

Apply to adopt here! Online cat application form. Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)

It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. For more information about this animal, please email yolospcafoster@gmail.com. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.

All of our felines have been altered prior to adoption. Kittens have been given their first shots of FVRCP, adults are up-to-date on vaccinations, and all cats have been Feline Leukemia tested (negative) and microchipped. The fee to adopt is $150 for one kitten or $100 for adults over 1 year (the fee helps cover these costs and the cost of the microchip registration). A reduced fee is available for adopting a second cat or kitten
