What’s better than one black kitten? A pair of bonded black kittens!

Read more about Morticia & Wednesday

Although they aren’t siblings, Morticia and Wednesday have formed a pretty special bond. Morticia, the smaller and possibly younger kitten with the fluffy black tail, even allows Wednesday to nurse on her whenever she needs.

They are roughly 16–20 weeks old, both have been spayed, and both are current on their vaccinations.

Both girls are still a little skittish, but they’re starting to come around. I really believe they’ll blossom and come out of their shells once they’re in a quieter, less chaotic home where they can feel safe and loved.

Because they are bonded and I’d love to see them stay together, I’m asking for a $50 rehoming fee for the pair.

2. Flounder

Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair

Meet Flounder—he may be shy today, but his story is just beginning.

Flounder is a very shy kitten who has been through a lot of change in a short time. He arrived at his original shelter with an upper respiratory infection and then transferred to EAPL. We’re happy to report that he has fully recovered.

Because sick kittens must spend their initial time in quarantine, Flounder hasn’t yet had many opportunities to learn how much fun people, toys and other kittens can be. Now that he’s healthy, he can begin gaining confidence and discovering the joys of kitten life.

Read more about Flounder

Flounder will need a calm, patient person who understands that trust can’t be rushed. After time to decompress and feel secure, we hope his playful and social side will begin to emerge. Watching a shy kitten take those first brave steps is incredibly rewarding—and Flounder deserves someone willing to take that journey with him.

He is currently settling in at the EAPL Cat Adoption Center inside Chow Down Pet Supplies in Evergreen. Stop by, speak softly and give him a chance to get to know you.

Ready to help Flounder feel safe and loved? Complete a cat adoption application at www.eapl.com. Once approved, you can schedule a meet and greet and find the cat or kitten best suited to your home.

3. Sebastian

Young (5 months 20 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair

Meet Sebastian—the kind of kitten whose trust is worth earning.

Sebastian is looking for a patient person who understands that some of the best relationships begin slowly. He’s a shy boy who needs a little time and space to feel safe before showing more of his personality.

Sebastian arrived at his original shelter with an upper respiratory infection. Since transferring to EAPL, he has made a full recovery and is now ready to begin the next chapter of his life.

Read more about Sebastian

After experiencing a shelter stay and a transfer, Sebastian is still decompressing and adjusting to another new environment. What he needs now is kindness, consistency and someone willing to let him move at his own pace. With time and security, we hope to see more of his playful and social side emerge.

Sebastian is currently settling in at the EAPL Cat Adoption Center inside Chow Down Pet Supplies in Evergreen. Stop by and meet him—you might be the patient, gentle person he’s been waiting for.

Ready to give Sebastian his chance? Complete a cat adoption application at www.eapl.com. Once approved, you can schedule a meet and greet and find the cat or kitten best suited to your home.

4. Eric

Young (5 months 14 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair

Meet Ariel and Eric

These two sweethearts were transferred to EAPL from HSFC due to the fire evacuations, and they're settling in a little cautiously — understandably so, after a stretch of being medicated and in quarantine. They're a bit gun-shy for now, but patient hands are already seeing them come out of their shells.

They arrived with an upper respiratory infection and were feeling pretty under the weather after the transfer — but they've since made a full recovery! Now that they're feeling better, they've discovered wand toys and can't get enough of them once they're comfortable with you.

5. Boo Boo Kitty

Read more about Boo Boo Kitty

Boo Boo Kitty is about 9 years old and is a very unique kitty. She loves to talk. Every time you touch her, she'll meow at you and let you know whether she wants to be pet or not, though she has never hissed. Even if you are walking beside her she will meow at you and loves to have conversations. You'll never find a cat that meows more than Boo Boo Kitty. At the same time, she can be shy and jittery, and it takes some time for her to warm up to new people. She loves to play with a wand, or even a piece of string on the floor. She's not a big fan of cuddling, but loves to rub up against your leg to show her love. She's the type of kitty that will only cuddle on her terms. Most of the day, she's sleeping. You can find her hiding in small cozy spaces from time to time, where she loves to sleep and hide from strangers, but you will figure out her favorite spots quickly. When it comes to food, she grazes with dry food which you can leave out all day. She also eats wet food once a night around 6pm-7pm. She is also very territorial, and does not get along with other cats. She is okay with dogs, but ever since we got a dog she has been peeing around the house. I recommend having her be the only animal in the house.
We're having to rehome Boo Boo because of changes in our living situation and we cannot take her with us.

How to adopt from Evergreen Animal Protective League

THE FIRST STEP to adopting an EAPL animal is to fill out a DOG ADOPTION APPLICATION. EAPL is a foster-based rescue. We do not have a shelter facility where applicants can come look at multiple animals at one time. All of our animals are in foster homes that range from Denver, to Evergreen, to Northeast Colorado - where they are loved and cared for until they are placed in a forever home. The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our Available Animals or providing a description of the type of animal you hope to adopt. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific animal, nor does it obligate you to adopt. Once we have received your application and determined that you are a good match for the requested animal, we will contact you. The foster parent will then contact you to arrange a time for you to meet the animal, at which time you can decide if you would like to complete the adoption. You may be asked to visit the animal more than once before taking it home. After your initial meeting with the animal, one of our volunteers will conduct a home visit. This may occur before you take the animal home or when the animal is delivered to you. Once the adoption is approved, you will need to complete our Preliminary Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fee. We will keep in contact over the next few days to make sure everyone is happy. If so, we will mail out an official Adoption Contract for

Adopting a cat in Summit County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
