Meet Elsa and Littles, two sweet girls who have made incredible progress acclimating to indoor life. They are truly bonded, enjoying their snuggle, grooming and play time together! They seem to have their own little system for navigating the world. Littles is braver - she checks things out and helps Elsa feel safe. Once Elsa gets comfortable, she looks after Littles! They make a pretty special team.
Both girls have blossomed in foster care, becoming increasingly confident and social. They eagerly takes treats, enjoys lots of pets and playtime and have even started to hop up on a chair or couch to sit close to foster mom.
They are still cautious with people and navigate their surroundings with vigilance so they would do best with someone willing to continue working with them on socialization and building trust. A calmer home with adults or older, respectful kids would be ideal.
These lovely girls come with some quirks! Littles doesn't meow, she squeaks! She has no problem bringing on her loudest, longest squeaks when it's time to eat! Elsa has a favorite game... catching fingers and toes! She likes to bat at them and will even gently mouth them. Give her a choice between a toy and toes, she is all about the toes!
Elsa and Littles will need time to decide if you're their person, but once they do, you get to see just how affectionate, funny, and endearing these two really are. They’ve already come so far, and they’re ready for the next chapter together.

They have a wonderful, cautious curiosity—taking a brief moment to scope out new situations before zooming into action. Once they feel safe, get ready for endless entertainment as they run, pounce, and play!
This social butterfly absolutely loves other felines and would thrive in a home with a playful resident cat to help build their confidence. If you are looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who brings the perfect mix of playtime and downtime, look no further!

I love to run, chase toys, and explore every nook and cranny. Most importantly, I adore other cats! I really want a forever home that already has another friendly cat I can play with, learn from, and cuddle next to. Jimmy is such a joy to be around! He loves people and is happy to get pets and attention from new people right away. He’s the perfect mix of playful kitten energy and gentle sweetness.
Read more about Jimmy
Jimmy loves to curl up in his foster’s lap, purring and soaking up attention. Then, when he’s ready for a little fun, he’ll pop up to bat around a toy for a few minutes before settling right back down for more snuggle time. He especially loves spending time and playing with his brother, Timmy.
Jimmy would do best in a home with another friendly cat. While he absolutely loves having a feline friend, he may need a little time to adjust to a new kitty who isn’t his brother. A home without another cat could also be a good fit, as long as his humans are able to give him plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship.
Jimmy has also met the resident dogs in his foster home. He was understandably a little scared at first, but once he realized they weren’t going to chase or hurt him, he quickly became much more comfortable and relaxed around them.
With his sweet, affectionate personality and playful spirit, Jimmy is a wonderful little guy who would make a loving addition to his forever family!

From the Foster Family: As soon as we heard there was a little black kitten named Melissa who needed a soft place to land, we didn’t hesitate. First, we love black cats. Second, the foster mom of the household just happens to be named Melissa too! So naturally, this sweet little girl became Melissa Junior, or MJ for short.
MJ is an affectionate, social girl who wants to be part of whatever her people are doing. She loves attention, loves to play, and especially loves spending time with her sister, Katie. When the day is over, MJ is also quite happy to curl up with Melissa Senior and sleep beside her at night.
With her sleek black coat, gorgeous golden eyes, and curious little face, MJ is a beauty, but her personality is what really gets you. She’s loving, playful, people-oriented, and happiest when she has someone nearby.
Whether she's playing with Katie, following her people around, or settling in for bedtime, MJ just wants to be where the love is.

From the Foster Family: Bert came to me at the beginning of September. He has been an absolute joy to have in our home. Bert would do well in a home with children who are calm and respectful. Because he is a bit more sensitive to loud noises and quick movement, he would also do well in a home that provides him with stability and routine. Bert is one of the sweetest cats I have ever met!
About Me: Hi, I'm Bert! I tend to find a quiet, dark spot during the day to rest. Currently, that is in my foster mom's closet on top of her bookcase behind her hanging clothes. I sleep with my foster mom or sister at night; she's 14 and loves me so much! The other 2 resident cats are starting to accept me. I'm very respectful towards them. The dog liked me right away, and I'm getting used to him as well. I like to play with cat toys sometimes, too. For the most part, I have focused on rest and gaining a bit of weight while in care.

Meet Marty
Marty may be a little reserved when you first meet him, but underneath his glossy black coat is a sweet little boy waiting for the right person to earn his trust. He prefers to take things slowly, observing his surroundings from a cozy, safe spot before venturing out to explore.
Once Marty feels safe and comfortable, his affectionate side begins to shine. He’ll reward your patience with soft purrs, gentle lean-ins for pets, and quiet curiosity as he gets to know you. He may not be the first kitty to leap into your arms, but he has a tender heart and so much love to give to the person who takes the time to earn his trust.
Ideal Home Environment
Quiet & patient household: Marty would thrive in a low-traffic home with adults or older, gentle children who understand that trust takes time.
Safe transition space: A small, calm room, such as a spare bedroom or bathroom, will give Marty a comfortable place to settle in during his first few days.
Feline companion potential: Marty may do especially well with another friendly, confident cat who can show him the ropes and help him build his confidence.

|Evan will steal your bed, steal your snacks, and then steal your heart.
Read more about Evan
After arriving as a stray, Evan was initially unsure about life as an indoor cat and found just about everything a little scary. Those days are long behind him. Now, Evan has fully embraced indoor living and confidently rules the house!
Evan generally gets along well with the resident cats, though he can sometimes be a little enthusiastic in his interactions. Because of this, slow and thoughtful introductions to other pets are recommended.
He does well with elementary-aged children and adults who understand how to approach him calmly and respectfully. Evan is a loving, affectionate companion who is always ready to flop over for belly rubs, rewarding his favorite people with some of the loudest purrs you'll ever hear. He loves holding hands, giving endless kisses, and being close to his humans. While he can occasionally get a little "pawsy" during playtime, he's simply having fun and does not show signs of aggression.
A playful spirit, Evan could happily spend hours chasing a string or batting around his favorite toys. When he's not playing, you'll likely find him perched atop the highest spot on the cat tree, carefully monitoring the birds and squirrels outside. And when dinner time rolls around, he'll make sure you're aware of it with a chorus of meows.
Most of all, Evan is a loyal and devoted companion who loves deeply. If you're looking for a cat who will fill your home with affection, personality, and constant companionship, Evan may be the perfect match.

From the Foster Family: Alice’s story began in an unfamiliar and scary place. She was found crying in a driveway off a gravel road. She was loud enough to catch much needed attention. Alice had been starving. Her tiny body was covered in scrapes and half of her whiskers were missing. Luckily, she found herself in the right driveway! After about three days of resting and scarfing down food and water, Alice was able to be herself. Her energy and resilience has been incredible to experience. She is playful, brave, social and such a sweetie. After what was likely a nightmare for Alice, she has woken up in a much kinder place. She has been so wonderful to get to know and is ready to land in her forever home.
About Me: Hi, I’m Alice! It’s been quite a long journey, but I’ve found myself in a cozy home with other kitties to play with. It’s tons of fun here and I spend most of my time chasing toys. I’m so happy to always have fresh water and a full food bowl! Using a litter box was pretty natural for me and I’ve taken a liking to keeping my fur extra clean. Sometimes I get lonely and talk with my friends and foster mom. I love when they listen. I thank them by making biscuits and purring as loud as I can. Snuggles are my absolute favorite and I’m very excited to meet my forever family!

Meet Bluey! A loving mama with a playful side!
Read more about Bluey
Bluey is such a wonderful mama to her 4 baby kittens with one of them being a little orphan she welcomed into her pride! She has been loving, attentive, and devoted to her kittens, making sure they get all the care and affection they need. Of course, being a mama doesn’t mean she’s above helping herself to her kittens’ leftover food if there happens to be extra! A girl has to keep her strength up, after all!
One of the sweetest things about Bluey has been watching her personality blossom. As she’s grown more comfortable, we’ve gotten to see more and more of her playful, curious side, and it has been so much fun! She loves wand toys, fuzzy toys, and pretty much anything that moves. Give her something fun to chase, and she’s ready to play!
Now that she’s getting some well-deserved time outside the nursery, Bluey is enjoying the opportunity to stretch her legs, explore, and run around with the other kitties. When the play sessions get going upstairs, you’d think a herd of elephants was playing tag! It’s wonderful to see her embracing this new chapter and enjoying all the fun that comes with being a cat herself, rather than just being a mama.
But don’t let her playful side fool you; Bluey also has a softer side that will absolutely melt your heart. She loves a warm lap, gentle affection, and those just-right chin scritches. There’s something so special about watching a cat who has spent her time caring for others begin to relax, feel safe, and enjoy a little pampering of her own.
Bluey is a beautiful reminder that even the best mamas deserve their own happily-ever-after. She has so much love to give and so much personality to share, and we can’t wait to see her continue to thrive.
Could your home be the place where Bluey gets to be the baby, soak up all the love, and enjoy a lifetime of cozy naps, playtime, and chin scritches? She’s ready to find out!

19. Shomo
Adult (2 years 10 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Shomo is an absolutely amazing fella, so very good-natured. We don't know what trauma happened to him, but he came to the rescue needing his tail amputated, cognitively impaired, and needing help with his bladder and bowel. The dear boy simply cannot read others at all. He assumes the very best of absolutely everyone. (We use him to assess other felines as he does not react to their fear.) Shomo happily greets visitors at the door, and he loves everyone. The dear boy cannot resist crinkle bouncer toys, leaping high into the air to catch them. (He isn't the best at landing.)
Read more about Shomo
Shomo needs an extra special home as his bladder requires expressing at least every 12 hours. He has a difficult bladder to squeeze, and he isn't a huge fan of having that done. The dear boy needs someone with strong hands. He cannot urinate on his own. His bladder would rupture if not expressed. We keep his stools firm so that we can control his bowels as well, simply helping him empty his rectum when he urinates (by using external pressure).
This loving fella enjoys cuddling with felines and humans alike. He is available for adoption for $50.

This lovely girl came to us with injuries compatible with having been thrown from a car. She was found abandoned, underweight, and sick from both injuries as well as infections. The kind lady who found her kept her in a garden shed until we took her in as a foster.
Velvet is very food motivated; loves to play with the other one year old kitten we have and she is fearless! She approaches all five of our cats and two dogs with interest, curiosity and really wants to cuddle with the dogs who each are 60-70 pounds each. She would do best in a home with at least one more cat to play with and would enjoy cat tolerant dogs if they were in the household. She is the energizer bunny, though over the last few weeks has finally slowed down to enjoy naps with, and pets from humans. She is in the process of learning boundaries, as she can get into the other animal’s space and doesn’t respond to their clues to “move along”. She loves her cat condo and is an impressive climber. She only scratches on her cat condo and has never failed to use the litter box.
About Me: Hi I’m Velvet! I am a “rambunctious bundle of joy”, or so my foster mom says. I love to sit on her lap for pets and sit behind her on the couch when I nap with my paws up against her. She serves the BEST kitten food ever! I used to not have food, so I do love feeding times!
The beginning of my life was not very good. I don’t dwell on it, but I was very sick when someone finally listened to my cries for help. Since then, I just love the world! I have a play buddy here and we wrestle and tumble, having so much fun. I like having the other animals around and the big fluffy cat holds me down and licks me! The dogs are so calm all the time, so I try to bring excitement to their lives. They aren’t so sure about that, but I think they are great! I love sitting in the windows and chittering at the birds outside. Everything is an adventure!
I would love to find a forever home with another or few animal friends I can play with and spend time with. I would be lonely alone, I think. With slow introductions, I think we would learn to be buddies. I do enjoy people but ones that don’t try to force me to do things at their pace. I learn quickly but want to do it at my own speed. Dare I say the squirt bottle works as a hard stop if I’m really pushing limits. Do you have space in your heart and home for a kitten who started life out hard, but doesn’t let it hold me back now? I have so much love to give!

He will cuddle up next to you on the couch and the end of the bed. 24. Massey Ferguson
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Miss Allis was surrendered from a local farm with her babies.
Meet Massey Ferguson (aka "Fergie" - Momma)
My name is Massey Ferguson, but my friends call me Fergie! I’m a bit older than the rest of the crew, which just means I'm a lady who is set in her ways. I spent my earlier days as a tough barn cat, and while I am incredibly happy to be safe and warm in a house, I still prefer it if humans leave me to my own devices. I am a gentle soul and have never shown a single ounce of aggression—I just get a little nervous and prefer to hide when people come too close. I find an immense amount of comfort and confidence when I'm with my fellow tractor momma, Allis, and I would love a quiet home where I can just coexist and learn to trust on my own timeline.

Personality: Independent, quiet, and very set in her ways.
Social style: Prefers her space from humans but is completely devoted to her feline friends.
Dream home: A calm, understanding environment with her best friend Allis, and a family who doesn't mind letting a sweet cat just be a cat.

25. Allis Chalmers
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Miss Allis was surrendered from a local farm with her babies. Meet Allis Chalmers My name is Allis Chalmers, aka: Allis! At first glance, I look like a sleek black cat, but if you catch me in the right light, you’ll see my secret: striking brown undertones filled with hidden stripes and spots! I’m a former barn cat who is still a bit unsure about humans, but if you give me a chance and pet me just a little, I completely melt. I’ll roll right over onto my back and let you scratch my neck all day! I'm also very playful, quite chatty, and have a lot of love to give. My ultimate dream is to find a forever home where I can stay together with my fellow tractor momma and best friend, Massey Ferguson!
Look: Sleek black coat with beautiful "secret" brown stripes and spots visible in the light.
Personality: A little shy at first, but secretly a playful, chatty mush who loves neck scratches.

Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Female · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Bucket and sibliigs were surrendered from farm in MN.
Meet Bucket
My name is Bucket! I am a beautiful white kitty with striking tabby markings, and yes—I was born with this perfect, built-in "cat eye" eyeliner! I'm a bit of a deep thinker. When I first left the barn, I took my time sizing things up, but I’ve officially decided that humans can be trusted (well, most of the time!). I really enjoy being close to my people and getting love, but I also appreciate a girl who knows how to enjoy her own personal space.
Look: Crisp white coat with striking tabby patches and flawless eyeliner.

27. Sprocket
Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Sprocket and sibliigs were surrendered from farm in MN.
⚙️ Meet Sprocket
My name is Sprocket! I listened very carefully to my mom's barn stories about humans, and to be honest, I’m still not entirely convinced she was wrong. I like to keep my distance and play it safe by watching my littermates whenever my foster mom is around. They all seem to absolutely love her! They climb all over her and I hear them purring away, so they must know something I don't. I might be ready to open up and join the machinery soon, but for now, I'm just taking my time.
Personality: Observant, cautious, and a little independent.

My name is Pedal! I’m the tiniest tractor part of the whole bunch, and I look very dapper in my permanent black-and-white tuxedo outfit. When I first left the barn, the big wide world felt a bit scary and I was a pretty timid little thing. But guess what? I’ve totally come out of my shell! Now that I know how wonderful people are, I absolutely crave attention and love.
Personality: Smallest of the litter, brave, and now loves the spotlight.
Look: Classic, adorable tuxedo kitten.

30. Diesel
Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Diesel and sibliigs were surrendered from farm in MN. Meet Diesel
My name is Diesel! When I first traded my barn life for a foster home, I tried really hard to be brave and prove I was the engine running this operation. I did lots of hissing and tucked my ears back tight! Since then, I have learned that being a house cat is way better than being a barn cat. I get food all the time! I have lots of fun playing with my 7 tractor-part littermates, and I purr all the time! I can't wait to meet my forever family, and I would absolutely love it if one of my siblings joined me!First impressions: Tried acting like a tough boss with big hisses and tucked-back ears.
Current status: Realized house life is amazing and turned into a total purr machine.
Favorite things: Constant food, epic playtime, and heavy purring.
Dream home: A loving family, ideally with one of his 7 littermates to keep the party going.

Adopting a cat in McLeod County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
