Dog-Friendly Cats for Adoption in Plainfield, NJ: 28 Cats Good with Dogs

In September, Griffin trotted up to one of our rescuers who was holding an open cat treat after a rescue in Brownsville and said "yes please" and "thank you" as he climbed their leg to get the snack. With that brazen introduction, we knew unequivocally that this guy wanted to live the good life indoors. We quickly scooped him into a carrier and got him to safety, where he housed many cans of food and made himself comfy, and we intend to give him a future of only that life moving forward.

Griffin is approximately 2 years old, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is negative for FeLV and FIV. He has been dewormed and treated for fleas.

This October, Finley showed up to a managed and TNR'd feral colony in Crown Heights, and made it known that he did not belong on the streets, following their regular caretaker with a polite but insistent meow requesting to come indoors. When he followed one of our rescuers back to their apartment door, we had no choice but to scoop him up and settle him back into the luxury and comfort he was accustomed to. We are so relieved he won't have to spend a hard winter on the streets, and delighted to give him a temporary spot to clean his crisp white socks while he waits for his person to come along.

Finley is approximately 4 years old, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is negative for FeLV and FIV. He has been dewormed and treated for fleas.

Tommy is the gray-and-white brother. He loves attention, makes biscuits like a pro, and is very enthusiastic about food. He even makes the funniest little gremlin noises while he eats.

These two were found at just 4 to 5 weeks old, abandoned together in a sealed plastic container near a busy street in Queens. They were cold, wet, dirty, and very underweight. Some caring neighbors got them to the vet and helped nurse them through those first few days.

These days they are just two very playful healthy kittens who are ready to have fun and be spoiled.

Daisy and Tommy are FIV/FELV negative, spayed and neutered and microchipped. They are happy, healthy, playful kittens who are ready for a home where they can continue to grow, play, and get all the love and attention they deserve.

Despite everything he’s been through, he harbors no resentment. He is a non-stop purr machine—a true "motorboat"— who wants nothing more than to curl into a soft meatloaf on your lap, make gentle biscuits, and rub his face against you—claiming you as his person, and promising that he is yours. Toby doesn't just tolerate being groomed—it is his absolute favorite thing in the world. He will happily roll onto his back, offering his belly to be brushed, leaning into every stroke with pure bliss. What Toby Needs: We are looking for a very specific, compassionate soul. Someone who understands that a senior cat’s love is a quiet, profound privilege, and who sees his care not as a burden, but as an act of devotion. Diet-Controlled Diabetes: Toby’s diabetes is currently completely managed by diet alone—no insulin injections required! Dog Friendly: He previously lived peacefully with a pit mix and loves canine friends. Young at Heart: He still gets playful bursts of joy, chasing laser lights and tossing catnip toys! He deserves to spend his golden years with someone who promises to never walk away from him. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle, resilient soul who will love you with every purr he has left, please reach out. Toby is waiting for you! If interested, please fill out an application at EHRcats.org.

Found in a backyard in Crown Heights, these two came from a litter of four had by a wiley feral mama cat mama named Marimekko. Pipo and Takki came indoors in the spring with their siblings Sokka and Suki, just on the cusp of becoming little feral critters destined for outdoor life. Though scared at first, with love, patience, and lots of treats, these two came around to the good life in the care of their fosters.

Pipo and Takki are five months old, spayed and neutered, and negative for FIV/FeLV. They are up to date on vaccines and treated for parasites! They must be adopted either together or to a home with another young, playful cat.

When she gets the zoomies, she is an unstoppable force, and as she's warmed up to her foster home, she's begun to find her voice (it's a work in progress.) Margo is a perfect companion for someone who doesn't want a velcro cat who won't leave them alone, but does want an affectionate companion to join them in their day-to-day.

Margo is 1-2 years old, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is negative for FeLV and FIV.

She has been dewormed and treated for fleas.

If you’d like to meet Margo, please complete our adoption application and write Nora as her rescuer https://brooklynanimalaction.org/adoption-forms/

Imelda came indoors this summer looking worse for wear, severely underweight, drooling, and in pain with what turned out to be severe dental disease and a polyp the size of a raspberry blocking her airways. Thankfully, a full mouth extraction fixed her up beautifully, and she's been acclimating to the indoor life ever since.

Imelda's foster parent highlights the following about Ms. May:

- She has no teeth. It’s not a bug, but a feature. She won’t eat your plants. (Please still don’t keep any lilies or toxic plants!)

-

She responds well to being talked to. She’s there for you and willing to listen.

- Not much of a talker but will meow unexpectedly from time to time and it’ll melt your heart.

- Earning her trust is rewarding. She is skittish but will warm up to you if ployed with churu. She is a churu goblin.

- She’ll make you feel like the main character in your own movie. She’s curious and wants to get to know people so she will walk over and look at you quizzically before lying down to loaf near your feet.

- Good with calm, respectful dogs.

- LOVES toy mice. She doesn’t show much interest in catnip but she’ll bat around some mice any time.

Imelda May is approximately 6-7 years old, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is negative for FeLV and FIV. She has been dewormed and treated for fleas. We are asking that only those willing to be patient and help Imelda May blossom with care, love, and respect apply!

Suki (black & white tuxie girl) is wide eyed and very smart. She has no problem meowing to be pet and played with. She’s sweet and silly, and will warm up to new humans with a bit of time. Sokka (tabby & white bicolor boy) is here to play. He loves to tussle, chase, and catch. He will play string with you for HOURS. He’s a floppy, energetic guy, who will soar thru the air to catch a toy! They both love a good butt scratch, a surface to climb, and a cozy spot to curl up together.

Found in a backyard in Crown Heights, these two came from a litter of four had by a wiley feral mama cat mama named Marimekko. Sokka and Suki came indoors in the spring with their siblings Pipo and Takki, just on the cusp of becoming little feral critters destined for outdoor life.
