4. Galen

Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 15 mi from White Plains

Uptown Girl Needs a Home

Galen was found wandering alone on Nagle Avenue in Washington Heights. As it happened to be a spay/neuter day for us, she was quickly whisked off to be spayed, vaccinated, and tested for FIV/FeLV (she’s negative!). We named her Nagel at first, but soon jumbled the letters to make it sound prettier – Galen. Getting to know her has been exciting for her foster person, as she has slowly learned to trust. This one-year-old kitty might do well with another feline or maybe as your one-and-only cat friend. Please consider adopting her or taking her in as a foster-to-adopt. You’ll be glad you did!

This is a cat who knows how to relax and how to love, and he’s definitely ready to break out of his condo and into a real home.Cats’ story makes him even more endearing. He was picked up during a TNR project after he wandered over to a colony when he heard there was free food. He’s an eater through and through—pâté, gravy, he doesn’t care. When it’s nom-nom time, he’s happy. His enthusiasm for a good meal just adds to his big, lovable personality.Social, friendly, and sporting striking green eyes, Cats Domino is the full package: looks, charm, and a heart that’s ready to bond. With his easygoing nature and affectionate spirit, this black-and-white gentleman shouldn’t be here long. We wish to place cats only in secure, safe, stable, loving homes, and we are very careful in our review of the applications. Potential Pet-parents fill out an Adoption Application, we review the application, call the applicant, schedule a time for them to visit our cats. We check their references, call their veterinarian, and verify that their backup person who would take the cats if something happened to the adopter is on board. Then a Foster Agreement is completed. When all parties are happy, after about 2 weeks, we have the finalized Adoption Agreement sent to us.

That donation can be in the form of healthy treats, quality pet food, crates, blankets, new leashes and collars, toys, gift certificates to pet supply stores, kitty litter, etc. -all are gratefully accepted! Adopting a cat in White Plains

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
