1. Menschie
Adult · Male · Manx / Bobtail / Mixed (short coat) · 27 mi from Seagrove

Menschie is the Yiddish word for "good boy", and this Menschie is definitely a good boy. Menschie is a Manx/bobtail mix tuxedo boy. He was found as a stray.
While he can occasionally be startled, for the most part he's very laid back and easy going. He loves people and I've seen someone he's just met be able to pick him up and cuddle him. We hope to learn soon if he's good with other cats.
He is up to date on vaccinations, has been wormed, treated for fleas, neutered, and microchipped. He tested negative for FIV, Felv, and heartworms.
His adoption fee is $95

2. Spunky & Hurricane
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby (short coat) · 27 mi from Seagrove

Read more about Spunky & Hurricane
Spunky (mom) and her son Hurricane came into care in mid-July, 2026. Spunky had shown up on her foster parents porch as a starving kitten in May, 2026. She was so small, no one imagined that she had kittens until she was spayed 5/29/26. She was released to her home territory following her surgery and continued to come for meals at the foster yard until a rain storm in July drove the little family to a neighbor’s porch. Spunky and her three kittens were captured and moved inside. Despite living outside for a long period, Spunky was never feral. The foster parents have been able to assemble a team of volunteers to help handle the kittens so they are also social.
Hurricane is a brown tabby male who looks just like his mother. He has always been very attached to her. This attachment was evident even when he had two siblings with which to play. The siblings have gone on to successful adoptions in the past few weeks. It is our opinion that Spunky and Hurricane should remain together.
Spunky and Hurricane live with 4 other cats and get along well with everyone. Their favorite place to be is on a cat tree looking out on the woods where they used to live but they have not tried to leave the house at all. They play with each other and with a very active 3 year old cat in the foster home. Favorite toys include a laser pen, springs, and small catnip mice. It’s been really fun to see Spunky enjoy toys that she probably never experienced before.
Neither Spunky nor Hurricane are particularly cuddly but they like to be in the same space with their foster parents. If she weren’t named Spunky early in her rescue, she would be named Perfection. She truly is the perfect cat! She is quiet, keeps a regular schedule, uses the litter box perfectly and took wonderful care of her kittens. Hurricane is a wonderfully playful youngster who enjoys toys, the scratching posts, climbing furniture and sleeping on any item of clothing that is left on the bed. Both are addicted to catnip and will roll around with any item that contains it.
If you are looking for a pair of young cats with whom to share your space, these two are a great choice. They are calm, attached to humans that they know, and really easy to care for. They eat and spend the night in the bathroom they have always used. They spend their days in the house with the other cats playing chase and napping. Although they have not been exposed to children or dogs, they are calm enough that these should not be a problem.
Both Spunky and Hurricane are fully vaccinated, spay/neutered, microchipped and ready for adoption.
They are located in Greensboro NC.

3. Charlotte
Senior (12 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 28 mi from Seagrove

Char/Meck Animal Control was notified by a couple that a cat had shown up at their house. She was scanned for a microchip that came back to the SCHS...from 2015! Unregistered, we have CHARLOTTE back and have caught her up on her vetting. She is a total sweetheart: calm, friendly, but with not many teeth. This, however, does not stop her from eating and she enjoys her meals. She is also four-paw declawed, but doesn't hold that against us. She will make a wonderful lap cat!
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. You may complete an application to start the adoption process at www.stanlycountyhumanesociety.org, under the 'Adoption' tab. Like us on facebook at Stanly County Humane Society Cats. They fed and cared for them until the SCHS could finally take them in. Shy was nervous upon intake, but has really progressed. He enjoys the catio, and visiting with and getting affection from volunteers. He does great with other cats and is sure to be a good lap warmer.

12. Hedgewig
Kitten (3 months 1 day) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 28 mi from Seagrove

HEDGEWIG’s mom was apparently hit by a car; the homeowner found her babies in the ditch. It was touch and go for Hedgewig because it was discovered the kittens had hookworms. With care from a vet and a great foster mom, this little guy has made a wonderful recovery. He’s playful, energetic and enjoying all there is to being a goofy kitten. He's a snuggle bug and enjoys other cats. Please submit an adoption application at

16. Zahli
Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 28 mi from Seagrove

ZAHLI was diagnosed with Glaucoma in her right eye. While vets hoped to wait until she was a little bigger to remove it, it was on the verge of rupturing so surgery was done. One of the SCHS' great foster moms stepped up to care for Zahli through her recovery and now she's ready for her forever home. This easygoing, affectionate girl loves other cats, dogs and people. She enjoys being carried around like the princess that she is and she sleeps with her foster parents at night.

Pretty ELPHABA was found sealed in a box with five younger kittens. Thankfully, a neighbor saw the box move. This girl is social, healthy and affectionate. She loves lovin's and will make a super pet inside a home with people who will not discard her like trash. The SCHS is in the process of squeezing in the other kittens. Updates to come.

19. Velvet
Adult (1 year 5 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 28 mi from Seagrove

VELVET has been with the SCHS since she was a kitten. She was adopted and returned, and the only way we can explain why is because she's all-things quirky. She enjoys sitting on top of our stackable washer/dryer, to zoom around playing with the most minute piece of litter (or nothing at all), to chew on most things plastic, to sit on your lap for lovin's, and to help you with your homework, paperwork, etc. She doesn't like to be snuck up on, to be held a long time or to have other cats get all up in her face. AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER! She's so much fun and a real bright spot in the cat room. Let's find the perfect quirky home for her!
The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit.

ZELDA was found as a lone stray, as so many kittens are. She’s a sweet baby that initially had a kitty cold, but is now feeling fine. She’s a quiet, go-with-the-flow little thing that would very much benefit from lots of TLC in her forever home. The standard adoption fee is $120 cash or $125 debit/credit. This includes feline testing, vaccines, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and de-worming. Submit an adoption application at stanlycountyhumanesociety.org to get approved. Adopting a cat in Seagrove
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
