1. Baby
Young · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 42 mi from Mount Hood Village

I really am just a baby since I am only about 6 months old! I was living outside for some reason and a nice lady was feeding me. She was worried that I might get PG with all those boys hanging around and asked SCC to make sure that will not happen. I am very sweet and loving and have a very quiet meow; so quiet you almost do not hear it unless you are looking at me and see my mouth move. I do have a great purr motor though! I will most likely need to be an only cat since I can be a little dominating with other cats. Older kids that know how to be nice to kitties, would probably be okay and I did not react to the foster's dog when I was in my carrier and he was near.

It might be different when I am nose to nose with others but that can be worked out with some time and patience. I am good with the litter box so I may have been an indoor girl at some point. I have been spayed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for parasites. If you are looking for a cute little bundle of fluffiness, look for me at the adoption events and come check me out. In the meantime, you can fill out an application at sccpets.com and maybe we can meet soon. Looking forward to it!

4. Sassy
Young · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 42 mi from Mount Hood Village

I was found near an apartment complex but no one seemed to know who my owner might be or where I actually came from. The lady who found me didn't realize that I had kittens hidden in the area. That was discovered after my foster mom took me to the vet and it was determined I wasn't pregnant but did have nipples filling up with milk! About the same time, another lady found 5 kittens hidden in a blackberry thicket and it was determined that they were mine. Sadly, one baby didn't make it because there were too many fleas and even a bath in Dawn didn't help enough. The other 4 kittens got multiple baths and were reunited with me so we became a family again.

Before that happened, I was spayed (doesn't interfer with nursing my babies), tested negative for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and given my rabies shot. I will finish my vaccinations as appropriate for a nursing mom and be treated for any parasites I might still have. Now that all the drama is over, my kittens are eating on their own and weaning, I am getting my shots finished and I am ready for a new home of my own.

5. Vergie
Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 42 mi from Mount Hood Village

Let me explain why I won't exactly look like my picture when you meet me. When I was inside all the time, I had a beautiful fluffy black coat with those brownish-gray highlights in the sun. However, after my brother, Tyler, and I moved to a different state and couldn't stay with our owners due to apartment rules, we went to stay with our human grandparents. Problems started because the two resident cats didn't like having to share things, so we started going outdoors to keep from having fights. Not an ideal situation to a cat that was used to being pampered and indoors all the time. I ended up with some mats and my highlights went away when my hair wasn't as fluffy.

Once I'm used to you and new surroundings, I am a vocal girl and will tell you all the gossip of the day! I would prefer a calm, quiet home where I can be the one and only but I will tolerate my brother, if you are looking for a pair of lovebugs who are already used to being together. I do not like dogs and even though I was raised with young kids, I would prefer not to be around them. I have been spayed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for parasites. I do like a clean litterbox or I have been known to poop outside of it. What can I say? I am a bit of a diva!

8. Maxine
Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 42 mi from Mount Hood Village

Maxine is a gentle, sweet girl looking for her forever home. Maxine spent her entire life outdoors, but thanks to a kind woman who made sure she always had food and shelter, she was cared for. She had several litters of kittens, and now that she has been spayed, her days of motherhood are behind her. She is ready to enjoy the safe, comfortable indoor life she deserves. Since coming into foster care, Maxine has really started to blossom. She loves being petted and is learning that being picked up can be okay, although she hasn’t had much experience with it yet. She has already come a long way with human attention and is becoming more comfortable and trusting every day.
Read more about Maxine
Maxine may be a little vocal or growl when she is unsure at first, but don’t let that worry you—it’s all sound and no bite! She hasn’t done this in quite a while, and I believe it was partly related to protecting and caring for her kittens at the time. With kindness, patience, and a little time, I truly believe Maxine will make a wonderful and loving companion. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Maxine has spent her whole life taking care of herself and her babies. Now it’s her turn to be loved, spoiled, and safe. If you’re looking for a sweet girl who just needs someone willing to give her a little patience while she learns what it means to be loved, Maxine may be the perfect cat for you.

9. Isabella
Adult · Female · Siamese · 42 mi from Mount Hood Village

Hi there! My name is Isabella. My human dad is moving and can't take me with him, SCC offered to help me find me home. So, let me tell you about myself. I am about 2 years old and a playful girl. Transitions can be bumpy sometimes, so while I might be timid at first, your patience will be rewarded with lots of love! I love to be petted but I will tell you, I have been known to give warning bites, not hard, but would be better with older kids that understand cat signs. I like to play, especially with those wand toys! I have my favorites. Those (and treats) are always great for bonding. I love being close to my person.

Adopting a cat in Mount Hood Village
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
