3. Teddy
Kitten (5 months 16 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 15 mi from Hallam

Teddy is a very sweet and shy kitten, about 5 months old. He was in foster care with two younger kittens and they all got along, but they were very active and Teddy is not.
Teddy loves to sit at the window and watch and observe what’s going on outside. He does play with soft mice toys and balls. He likes to spend time near the adult cats in his foster home and is respectful of them. He ignores the dog.
Teddy is still unsure of his world at times but with patience and lots of nurturing he becomes braver and more sure of himself. At the end of the day he likes to stretch out beside a human and get in gentle rubs under his chin and on his cheeks.

4. Juliet
Young (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Hallam

Birthday: October 9, 2025
"O' Family, Family, wherefore art thou Family?"
Juliet has been sitting in her balcony just wishing and begging that her forever family finds her. This beautiful petite lady was trapped by another rescue and planned to be rereleased. However, they deemed that she was too friendly to return outside! Not only did she have the gorgeous markings that make her unique and stand out, but she has a personality that's just as eye catching!
Read more about Juliet
Juliet has a knack for humans. She craves for human attention, and her affectionate nature makes her hard to decline. Though she's a bit wary of other animals (probably due to being outside), she is really the only girl you'll ever need in your home! Her foster is working with her to show her that other animals aren't so bad, so she MAY have a chance to befriend more than just humans!
So, what are you waiting for? This sweet girl can't wait to meet you!
Juliet's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

15. Gus Brown
Kitten (4 months 13 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Hallam

Birthdays: May 15, 2026
Before you ask, no, these kittens are not retired armed forces who are trying to become rich by racing greyhounds. Though they are hoping that they can hit it big by finding the right family! Gus Brown and Midnight Brewster were outside cats who were part of a TNR project. When they were recovering, they seemed to strike up a relationship with their human rescuers. They were curious about their saviors, especially after they would deliver food to them several times a day! Knowing they would make a great pair of pets for a wonderful family, the rescuers brought the pair to LCCR.
Read more about Gus Brown
Midnight and Gus are a bit on the shy side. With patience, care, and love, they began to trust the humans who took them from outside. The rescuers were actually a bit shocked at how quickly they warmed up to them! Based on how they act, they will always be a little hesitant around new people. Despite this, the boys have warm personalities that would melt your heart once they get to know you. Their foster does not believe they would do well around young children due to their fast movements and unpredictability. However, they do get along well with other kitties! The colony they were once a part of had a dog on the property, but we aren't sure how they would fair against their canine counterparts. Midnight and Gus are great with their litter boxes, and they have started learning just how wonderful human affection can really be! Even now, if you pet them, they will sound their purr alarms! With great patience comes great love, and Midnight and Gus can't wait to meet their furever family!
Midnight Brewster and Gus Brown's adoption donation is $245 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.

17. Leslie
Kitten (3 months 7 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Hallam

Birthday: July 9, 2026
One mama cat knew the very meaning of Girl Power when she gave birth to a litter of 5 female kittens! She and her brood were trapped in a backyard around the Harrisburg area when a loving neighbor decided to take it upon themselves to bring them into their home for some much needed TLC. As these adorable girls grew, so did their personalities! Though they may be a little different from each other, they are all equally healthy, big eaters, and ready to find their forever homes! Let's talk about this girl in particular though!
Read more about Leslie
Leslie is more calculating than the rest of her siblings. She tends to observe the situation before jumping in on the action. However, her cat instincts kick in, and her curiosity can sometimes get the better of her! Not only is this little tater sweet, she's a playful nut! Her favorite activities are wrestling, climbing, playing, and tussling with her toys and siblings. It's also never a bad time to relax and enjoy some attention. She loves to be petted, and she might even cuddle in your arms after a good play session. Compared to her sisters, she has a lot of white on her face!
Leslie's adoption donation is $135 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

Charlie is the largest of the litter, and she has a big personality to match it! She can have an attitude at times, claiming her superiority over others. However, it doesn't look like she has a hold over her siblings! Out of all of her sisters, she has the softest fur. She stands out as the mostly gray sister of the bunch. She has a big appetite to match her size, and she can go from 0mph to 60mph when it comes to playing! Surprisingly, this sweet girl is incredibly cuddly! When she has settled all of her business matters, she enjoys snuggling in your lap.

Kitten (3 months 17 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Hallam

Birthday: June 29, 2026
Handsome. Charming. Elton has it all! It's only suiting that a kitty like him should be a tuxedo cat with all that pizzaz and good looks! This adorable little fella has a personality that could make anyone fall in love with him. He may be a little shy, but once he comes around, there's no doubting that he's the perfect kitty.
Read more about Elton
His shyness most likely developed very young since he was born outside. After his rescue, his foster worked with him to overcome this timid nature, and he's coming along wonderfully! His personality has truly come out, and it's just hard not to smile around him. He is a very curious and playful little guy. He loves any kind of wand you may have lying around, and his climbing skills are put to the test when he's on a cat tree. If he had to pick the absolute best thing in the world, he will whole-heartedly say Churu's!

20. Vinnie
Young (1 year 4 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 23 mi from Hallam

Birthday: May 20, 2025
Vinnie is a connoisseur when it comes to nature! He was found around October of 2025, and the sneaky little guy managed to evade capture until July of 2026 - 9 whole months! A TNR group managed to snatch the devious devil and fixed him, but to their surprise, he was incredibly happy to be around them! You would think a cat who eluded people at every turn would not enjoy their presence, but au contraire! He loved the attention and affection he received, and his rescuers thought he would be an excellent pet for someone.
Read more about Vinnie
Vinnie could entice anyone. He has the most beautifully striped tabby markings and a petite figure. To tie his look all together, his green eyes can enchant anyone. He might be a bit cautious and curious around new people, but he definitely has a soft spot for humans. He's been known to follow his foster around the house when she is doing chores. He even has a sense of comradery with his own kind. His interest and fondness towards other cats could make him a great friend if you have a kitty at home who needs a buddy! He's probably the most tolerant cat you'd ever lay your eyes on. He doesn't mind getting his nails trimmed or ears cleaned, and he's very cooperative and calm with his vet appointments.
When it comes to attention, Vinnie will do anything for it. He enjoys endless chin rubs, head scratches, and human touch. If he knows you're coming over to give him some pets, he'll instinctively flop over onto his side! He'll initiate gentle headbutts when he's feeling loved, and he can't wait for you to brush him! The only other thing that can beat all this attention is food! He's a highly food-driven kitty. He's come to respond to his name whenever you call for him. While he's still learning how to play, he has a favorite toy - the fish on a stick! If there isn't a person nearby or toys aren't catching his attention, he'll sit by a window and get totally entranced by the wildlife activity!
Because he was living outside, at some point, Vinnie contracted FIV. While this does weaken his immune system, it doesn't mean his life has been cut down. In fact, many FIV+ cats have gone on to live a long and fulfilling life just like their healthy counterparts. With regular vet checkups and a healthy lifestyle, Vinnie can bring you many years of happiness and some laughs! Since Vinnie is such a catch, his foster is willing to pay the adoption fee for anyone who wants this sweet boy in their home!
Vinnie's adoption donation includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.

Adopting a cat in Hallam
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
