Young (2 months 27 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 59 mi from Memphis

Glover and his brother, Cendric, were just tiny kittens when someone spotted them in a very dangerous place—along busy College Hill Road. They were darting between the nearby woods and the roadway, and one of the kittens was actually in the road when their rescuer drove by. Both were crying from hunger but were frightened enough that they wouldn’t allow anyone to get close.

Their rescuer went home for food and a carrier and then returned to try again. After searching for a mama or additional kittens and finding none, she used the one thing the starving little boys couldn’t resist: food. Glover and his brother walked right into the carrier to eat and were finally safe.
What a difference safety and love have made! Glover is now a very sweet, playful orange tabby who can concentrate on the things a kitten should be doing—playing, exploring, receiving affection, and having fun.
Glover has already experienced enough roadside excitement for a lifetime. Now he needs a forever home where he’ll never have to wonder where his next meal is coming from or dodge another car again.

3. Alicia
Adult (3 years 8 months) · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Tuxedo / Mixed (long coat) · 59 mi from Memphis

Alicia thought she already had her forever home. She was a beloved companion to an elderly woman and enjoyed the peaceful, predictable life they shared together. Sadly, when her owner had to move into assisted living, Alicia suddenly found herself needing a new family through no fault of her own.
Having spent her life in a quiet household, Alicia would be happiest in a calm home where she can settle into a comfortable routine again. She is looking for someone who appreciates a more peaceful feline companion and can give her the stability she was accustomed to.

Alicia is also a little too well-rounded at the moment! She is overweight and would benefit from a family willing to encourage more activity through interactive toys, short play sessions, and other gentle exercise. Helping her gradually become more active will be an important part of keeping her healthy and happy.
After losing the person and home she knew, Alicia deserves a soft place to land. She’s ready for a loving family who will give her comfort, companionship, and a fresh start.

5. Minnie
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 16 mi from Memphis

Minnie was found as a young kitten, abandoned by her litter-mates at just 3 months old. She instantly adapted to life indoors and has become a wonderful house cat. She is very clean and has had zero accidents, her litter box habits are perfect. She plays well with people and other cats, and loves to cuddle with her feline friends. She follows my older cat everywhere.
Minnie would do best in a home with other friendly cats but she has not ever been around dogs but we think she might adjust well in a home with a dog if the proper introductions are done and patience is exercised as they get to know one another.

She is still a bit hesitant at being touched by humans but she shows affection in other ways such as following me around the house and lying beside me. She just needs someone who will be patient with her as she builds confidence at her own pace. If interested, please submit an application on our website https://desotoanimalrescue.org/application/

10. Michelle
Young (1 year 4 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 59 mi from Memphis

Michelle is a beautiful orange-and-white girl whose sweet personality is worth taking the time to discover. She was found at a local grocery store, unsure of where she belonged, and was brought to safety to begin her search for a real forever home.
Michelle can be shy when she first meets someone and may need a little extra time to become comfortable in a new environment. She isn’t the type of cat who will necessarily climb into your lap five minutes after arriving—and that’s okay. Give her patience, kindness, and the freedom to approach when she feels ready, and you’ll begin to see a completely different side of her.

Adopting a cat in Memphis
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
