1. Eve

Female · Bombay / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 3 mi from Knoxville

Eve came into rescue as a singleton kitten at just a couple weeks old. Found by a Good Samaritan, she was bottle-fed for several weeks before transitioning to wet food which she now loves. Despite being the youngest and smallest in a house full of resident and foster kitties, she absolutely rules the roost. She’s confident, brave, and knows what she wants.

Read more about Eve

Eve spends most of the day playing with her foster siblings and bossing them around then loves snuggling into bed at night with a cozy blanket and her foster mama. She is all black with soft, fuzzy fur and greenish-yellow eyes. She’s about 3 months old but is on the petite side and I believe she’ll be a small cat once fully grown.

She hasn’t been exposed to dogs or small humans but would likely do fine with either as long as slow, respectful introductions took place. She would LOVE a friendly resident kitty in her forever home to show her the ropes and make her more comfortable with the transition. In her foster home, she has six kitty friends and she adores them!

Eve uses the litter box perfectly. She keeps herself very clean. She is spayed, vaccinated (rabies), and has been dewormed. She’s ready to go home today!!

3. Opie

Male · Russian Blue / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 3 mi from Knoxville

Meet Opie!

Opie is a 12-week-old male kitten with a plush, solid blue-gray coat, enormous ears, and bright golden-green eyes. He's a velvet-colored little shadow with absolutely no concept of personal space — which is exactly how he likes it. If you've been looking for a cat who will narrate your entire day, chase a wand toy until he tips over, and then fall asleep on your chest mid-sentence, you've found him.

Read more about Opie

Opie is a professional cuddler. His favorite place in the world is directly on your chest, chin tucked under yours, purring like a small motor. He seeks out laps, shoulders, and the warm spot right next to you on the couch. He isn't a "sit nearby" cat — he's an "on top of you" cat, and he fully commits. He also handles being picked up, held, and snuggled with zero complaints, which makes him a wonderful fit for anyone who wants a hands-on, affectionate companion.

When he isn't snuggling, Opie is a playful goofball. Wand toys, crinkle balls, cardboard boxes, and your shoelaces are all equally thrilling to him. He does the classic kitten sideways-hop, sprints the length of the hallway for no particular reason, and plays hard right up until the moment he crashes. He's also wonderfully vocal and expressive — he chirps, trills, and chats throughout the day, greeting you at the door, commenting on breakfast, and announcing when it's time for cuddles. His face is every bit as expressive as his voice, so you always know exactly what he's thinking.

Opie is great with other cats, too. He plays beautifully with his foster housemates and reads feline social cues well, so he'd be delighted to join a home with a resident cat — especially a playful friend close to his own energy level. His ideal home is an indoor-only one with plenty of play time and enrichment, and people who find a talkative cat charming rather than chatty. He'd be a great match for families with kids, first-time cat adopters, or anyone working from home who could use a devoted desk supervisor.

4. Wilfie & Winnie

Kitten · Male · Tabby (medium coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

HI! Hi hi hi! It's me, Wilfie!
Did you hear me? Everybody usually hears me!I'm a gray and tan tabby, six months old and full of things to say. Some people call it talking. I call it communicating. When I say "Hi!", I mean hi. When I say "Mrrrow!" around dinnertime, I mean it's time to eat, right now, please and thank you. I'm not hard to figure out!
My sister Winnie and I started out on a farm in rural Tennessee. At eight weeks old, we came to our first home together, and we've been indoor adventurers ever since. And adventures are my specialty.
Got a box? I'm in it. A tunnel? I'll zoom through it ten times.

Read more about Wilfie & Winnie

Something brand-new that just showed up? I've already sniffed it, batted it, and decided whether it's a toy. (It's usually a toy.) My favorite thing in the whole world is a fishing pole toy. Wave it around and watch me pounce, leap, and grab! I also love kick toys that I can hug tight and bunny-kick into next week. I don't miss a thing. Not one single thing!
But here's a secret: I'm a big snuggler too. I love hanging out with my family, wherever the action is. I like being held, and I really like rubs and pets. If you're scratching my chin, you've got a friend for life.
And Winnie, well, she's my best buddy. We roughhouse like champions, and then we flop down and hang out like nothing happened. If I can't see her, I go find her. Even a tough guy like me needs his sister. Sometimes we each like a little alone time too, but we always end up back together.
Our family's life changed, and they can't give us all the love and playtime we need anymore. So I'm saying it loud and clear, because that's how I say everything: we need a forever family! One with laps for snuggling, toys for chasing, and room in their hearts for TWO.
Love,Wilfie & Winnie

5. Winnie & Wilfie

Kitten · Female · Tabby (medium coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hello there, friend. I'm Winnie. Please excuse me if I peek at you from behind the couch first. That's just how I say hello.
I'm a gray and silver tabby, six months old, with stripes that shimmer a little when the sunlight finds them. My brother Wilfie and I were born on a farm in the rolling hills of rural Tennessee. When we were just eight weeks old, we rode off to our very first home together. We've been indoor kitties ever since, and I think the indoors suits me just fine.
I'm a quiet girl, but I notice everything: the flutter of a curtain, the crinkle of a new bag, the way the light moves across the floor in the afternoon.

Read more about Winnie & Wilfie

If something new comes into the house, I'll be there, a little cautious at first, to give it a thorough inspection. Curiosity is my favorite hobby, right after napping.
And oh, the napping! My favorite spot is the very top of the cat tree, where I can keep watch over my whole kingdom. I also love a good hiding place: a cozy corner, a nook under a blanket, anywhere snug and secret. If you can't find me, I'm probably dreaming somewhere close by.
I do love attention, especially gentle pets once I know you. I also like my quiet time, and I'm happiest with a family who lets me come to them in my own sweet way. I promise the wait is worth it.
Then there's Wilfie. He's loud and bouncy and sometimes a bit much, but he's my Wilfie. We wrestle and chase and tumble until we're both worn out, and then we curl up together like we've always done. When he wanders out of sight, I go looking for him. And I know he does the same for me.
Our family had a change in their lives, and they can't give us the time and love we need anymore. So I'm asking, very softly, the way I ask for most things: will you keep us together? I'd love to find my forever spot at the top of your cat tree.
Love,Winnie & Wilfie

6. Iskra

Female · Tortoiseshell / Mixed (medium coat) · 3 mi from Knoxville

I'm Iskra! Tortitude? Never heard of it! Even though I am a tortie, you wouldn't know it by my personality. I am a quieter, calmer, more sensitive kitten than my brother Wyx and sister Sorel. I still play and explore, and I'm very inquisitive, but I am happiest when being held and pet. I'm scared of dogs with lots of energy, but a calm canine companion would be alright with me! I also get along with all other cats, and like napping with my foster friends! My favorite is climbing, and even when I was really small I was scaling 6 foot cat trees and climbing anything I could. I am hoping for a nice forever home with people who are looking for a kitty with a poet's soul.

I absolutely love attention and spending time with my people, but I'm also perfectly capable of entertaining myself. Give me a few toys, and I'll create my own adventures!

Male · Russian Blue / Mixed (medium coat) · 3 mi from Knoxville

Meet Theodore

Born the first week of May 2026, Theodore had a difficult beginning. He was born to a feral barn cat and sadly lost his mother and two of his siblings to a coyote.

Despite his rough start, Theodore has grown into an incredibly smart, affectionate, and very busy young cat. ❤️ He loves curling up in your arms while you’re sitting and happily settles into your lap in the recliner. He can be an absolute cuddle bug!

Read more about Theodore

Theodore is also a high-energy youngster who needs plenty of playtime, enrichment, and appropriate outlets for all that kitten energy. At times, he can become overstimulated and play too roughly, so he needs someone who understands feline behavior and is willing to help him continue learning appropriate ways to play.

Because of his energy level and tendency toward rough play, Theodore should not be placed in a home with small children. His ideal adopter would be a seasoned, cat-experienced person who can provide consistency, structure, and guidance. He may also benefit from working with a qualified feline behaviorist who can help his adopter better understand his needs and set him up for success.

The good news? Theodore does great with other cats! ❤️ A well-matched feline companion may be a wonderful fit for this social, energetic boy.

Theodore has received veterinary care and is currently being given some additional support to help him settle and thrive.

Theodore is:
✂️ Neutered
Up to date on vaccinations, including rabies
Negative for FIV/FeLV
Great with other cats
Very intelligent
❤️ Affectionate and cuddly
Active, playful, and in need of lots of enrichment
Best in a home without small children
Needs an experienced cat owner

Astro has quite the story! He was born to a feral mama who brought him to our back porch to eat. We were able to trap him, fully expecting that he would be feral too—but Astro had other plans! ❤️

Although he is a little shy at first, once Astro warms up to you, he is a sweet, loving and affectionate boy who absolutely enjoys being petted and playing. He’s not a big fan of being picked up and carried around, but give him some gentle attention and he will happily soak it up.

And one of his cutest little quirks? Astro loves to gently nibble fingers!

Read more about Astro

We estimate Astro is around 3–4 months old. He has been neutered and microchipped, has excellent litter box manners, and has done very well around other cats and kittens. He has never been introduced to a dog, so we don’t know yet how he would do with canine friends.

Astro is long, sleek and absolutely gorgeous—and we think he is going to grow into one stunning cat! ‍⬛✨

Meet Jodie ❤️
Jodie is a super playful, talkative little girl with a personality that will keep you smiling! At approximately 2 years old, she’s a petite sweetheart who is finally ready to enjoy being the baby herself.
Jodie had several litters before being rescued and spayed, so those mama days are officially behind her. Now it’s her turn to be loved, spoiled, and cared for! ❤️
She absolutely adores her canine foster companions and gets along wonderfully with other cats, too. Jodie also has great manners around children, making her a wonderful fit for many different types of families—from a cozy, quiet household to a big, busy home.

28. Jolene

Kitten · Female · Calico / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Knoxville

Jolene
Jolene is an adorable calico girl with two very important loves in life: treats and toys! If you're looking for a way to win Jolene's heart, we have a pretty good idea where to start. This sweet girl absolutely loves treats and will do just about anything for a tasty snack!
But treats aren't the only thing that makes Jolene happy. She is a purr machine who loves to play, and when it comes to her toys, she is anything but dainty! Jolene gets so wild with her toys and loves showing off her impressive acrobatic skills. One of her favorite games is having her foster mom toss toys into the air so she can leap and catch them right out of the air.

Read more about Jolene

Watching her play is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!
Jolene and her sister, Magnolia, were born around June 25. The two girls are good friends and enjoy having each other around for companionship and playtime. They would make a wonderful pair together in a forever home.
Jolene can be a little shy while she gets to know new people and surroundings, so she will need a patient and loving family willing to give her some time to settle in and build her confidence. Once she feels comfortable, you'll discover the playful, affectionate, purring little personality underneath.
If you're looking for a sweet calico who can purr her way into your heart, make you laugh with her wild toy antics, and impress you with her flying-kitten acrobatics, Jolene might just be your girl!
Treats, toys, purrs, and plenty of personality—Jolene is ready to find her forever home!

Adopting a cat in Knoxville

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
