2. Wilfie & Winnie
Kitten · Male · Tabby (medium coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

HI! Hi hi hi! It's me, Wilfie!
Did you hear me? Everybody usually hears me!I'm a gray and tan tabby, six months old and full of things to say. Some people call it talking. I call it communicating. When I say "Hi!", I mean hi. When I say "Mrrrow!" around dinnertime, I mean it's time to eat, right now, please and thank you. I'm not hard to figure out!
My sister Winnie and I started out on a farm in rural Tennessee. At eight weeks old, we came to our first home together, and we've been indoor adventurers ever since. And adventures are my specialty.
Got a box? I'm in it. A tunnel? I'll zoom through it ten times.

Something brand-new that just showed up? I've already sniffed it, batted it, and decided whether it's a toy. (It's usually a toy.) My favorite thing in the whole world is a fishing pole toy. Wave it around and watch me pounce, leap, and grab! I also love kick toys that I can hug tight and bunny-kick into next week. I don't miss a thing. Not one single thing!
But here's a secret: I'm a big snuggler too. I love hanging out with my family, wherever the action is. I like being held, and I really like rubs and pets. If you're scratching my chin, you've got a friend for life.
And Winnie, well, she's my best buddy. We roughhouse like champions, and then we flop down and hang out like nothing happened. If I can't see her, I go find her. Even a tough guy like me needs his sister. Sometimes we each like a little alone time too, but we always end up back together.
Our family's life changed, and they can't give us all the love and playtime we need anymore. So I'm saying it loud and clear, because that's how I say everything: we need a forever family! One with laps for snuggling, toys for chasing, and room in their hearts for TWO.
Love,Wilfie & Winnie

3. Winnie & Wilfie
Kitten · Female · Tabby (medium coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hello there, friend. I'm Winnie. Please excuse me if I peek at you from behind the couch first. That's just how I say hello.
I'm a gray and silver tabby, six months old, with stripes that shimmer a little when the sunlight finds them. My brother Wilfie and I were born on a farm in the rolling hills of rural Tennessee. When we were just eight weeks old, we rode off to our very first home together. We've been indoor kitties ever since, and I think the indoors suits me just fine.
I'm a quiet girl, but I notice everything: the flutter of a curtain, the crinkle of a new bag, the way the light moves across the floor in the afternoon.

If something new comes into the house, I'll be there, a little cautious at first, to give it a thorough inspection. Curiosity is my favorite hobby, right after napping.
And oh, the napping! My favorite spot is the very top of the cat tree, where I can keep watch over my whole kingdom. I also love a good hiding place: a cozy corner, a nook under a blanket, anywhere snug and secret. If you can't find me, I'm probably dreaming somewhere close by.
I do love attention, especially gentle pets once I know you. I also like my quiet time, and I'm happiest with a family who lets me come to them in my own sweet way. I promise the wait is worth it.
Then there's Wilfie. He's loud and bouncy and sometimes a bit much, but he's my Wilfie. We wrestle and chase and tumble until we're both worn out, and then we curl up together like we've always done. When he wanders out of sight, I go looking for him. And I know he does the same for me.
Our family had a change in their lives, and they can't give us the time and love we need anymore. So I'm asking, very softly, the way I ask for most things: will you keep us together? I'd love to find my forever spot at the top of your cat tree.
Love,Winnie & Wilfie

5. Ernest & Cecil
Kitten · Male · Bombay (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hi, I'm Ernest (aka Ernie)!I'm a handsome, sleek, three-month-old Bombay baby, and I've got a confession to make: I used to be the shy one. But not anymore. There was a time when the world felt pretty big to me. New sounds, new faces, new places — it was a lot, and I used to get scared more easily than I wish I had. But I worked at it, little by little, every single day, until one day I realized something: I wasn't scared anymore. I was just having fun. Now? I'm a playful, happy little troublemaker, and I regret nothing. I chase things. I pounce on things. I get into all kinds of harmless mischief, and I love every second of it.

My brother Cecil probably thought he'd always be the bold one, but these days I'm right there with him.Cecil and I are still a team, through and through. If he wanders off somewhere I can't see him, I let him know about it — loudly — and he comes running back every single time. That's just how we work. We're better together, braver together, and honestly, a lot more fun together too.Our mama, Cordelia, is a sweet calico who found her own happy ending — she chose a family, and they chose her right back, so she gets to stay in that home forever. I'm so glad she got that. Now Cecil and I are ready for our own forever too — a lively, playful home that can keep up with two confident little troublemakers who are more than ready for adventure. If you've got room in your heart for a happy, silly, fully-out-of-his-shell kitten (and his equally bold brother), I'd love to meet you. We're ready when you are.Love,Ernest & Cecil

6. Cecil & Ernest
Kitten · Male · Bombay (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hi I'm Cecil!
I've got a brother named Ernest, and we're about three months old. He's my other half, honestly — where I go, he goes, and that's just how it's always been.
We're black Bombay kittens, sleek and shiny like little panthers, and if you ask me, I think we're pretty darn handsome. But looks aren't even the best part about us — the best part is that we're kittens through and through. We want adventure. We want mischief. Basically, we're ready to cause a little chaos and a lot of joy.
I'm an outgoing little boy, and I'll march right up to you, headbutt your hand until you pet me, and turn into a full-blown cuddle bug the second you sit down. I don't really believe in strangers — just friends I haven't head-bonked yet.
And Ernest? He's just as cute as I am. He used to be a little more cautious, but that boy is coming out of his shell and is getting it all figured out with me.
Here's the thing you really need to know about us, though: we can't be split up. If I wander somewhere Ernest can't see me, he lets me know about it — loudly. And the second he does, I come running — every single time. We're a team, through and through, and we're a lot more fun that way too.
Our mama was a sweet semi-feral calico named Cordelia. She started hanging around a family's home, and they took care of her the best they could — until one day she showed up expecting kittens. That's how Ernest and I came into the world, and into rescue. But here's the happy part: Cordelia gets her own happy ending too. She chose that home, and now she gets to stay there for good.
As for me and Ernest? We're still looking for our forever people. Two bold, confident troublemakers, ready to fill your home with purrs, chaos, and cuddles — completely ready to steal your heart (and probably your favorite pen too).
If you've got room for double the trouble and double the love, I'm ready when you are.
Love,Cecil & Ernest

7. Mr. Kitty
Young · Male · Tabby (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

URGENT!!!
Hi, I'm Mr. Kitty.
My story didn't start out easy. I was found as a tiny kitten, all alone, with no one to look after me. I wasn't healthy, and for a while it looked like I might even lose an eye. It was a scary way to begin.
But then some wonderful people gave me a chance. With their care and the help of a great vet, I made it through. I'm in perfect health now — both eyes, a strong body, and a heart that never stopped hoping for something good. The family who saved me loved me well, and my dad has taken such good care of me. But now he's the one who needs care. He has a heart transplant coming up soon, and he's scared and worried — not just for himself, but for me too.
Read more about Mr. Kitty
He wants to know I'll be safe and loved while he focuses everything he has on getting well. That's why I need to find my new home now, before his surgery, so his heart can be fully on healing, not on worrying about me.
I promise I'm easy to love. I'm a handsome herringbone tabby with the cutest little spots on my belly — my family always said I was one of a kind, and I like to believe them. I'm a cuddle bug through and through — happiest curled up on a warm lap, soaking in every bit of affection I can get. I'm a perfect gentleman, gentle and easygoing with everyone I meet. I love people, I love dogs, and I especially love other kitties — I'd give anything to have a friend to share my days with.
I've already come so far from where I started. All I want now is a soft place to land — a family, a friend, and a lap that's mine. I know it's out there. I just haven't found it yet. And right now, my dad needs to know I'll find it soon.
Please, if you can open your heart and your home, reach out today. Time is short, and so is his. I've already come so far from where I started. All I want now is a soft place to land — a family, a friend, and a lap that's mine. I know it's out there. I just haven't found it yet.
If you think it could be you, I'll be waiting.
Love,Mr. Kitty

11. Ken
Adult · Male · Siamese / Snowshoe / Mixed (short coat) · 11 mi from Knoxville

Ken is a handsome lilac-pt Siamese Snowshoe mix male about 1 year old (DOB about 7/1/25). He was brought to a local veterinarian by someone who apparently found him and thought he needed to be humanely euthanized. He was extremely emaciated and dehydrated and appeared to have an injured paw. The doctor thought she could get him healthy again and asked the Stray Connection to sponsor his recovery and routine vetting. He is doing well now and is ready for a new home. He does still limp a bit but has had physical therapy that helped. He is initially a bit cautious of people (and probably rightly so, given his story), but he warms up super fast.

Adopting a cat with children in Knoxville
Bring the whole family to meet the cat before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the cat behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the cat come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the cat alone while it's eating, sleeping or using the litter box. Give the cat a high or quiet spot to retreat to.
Relaxed adult cats are often a better match for young children than kittens, which scratch and nip while they play.
