7. Medea
Female · American Shorthair (short coat)

To meet Medea, please text 214 621 1139.
Medea is a majestic, house-panther-sized diva who firmly believes she is the radiant center of the universe. Tipping the scales with pure, unadulterated jollity, she carries her round silhouette with the cheerful swagger of someone who has never met a carb she didn't like. While folklore suggests black cats bring mystery and quiet shadows, Medea clearly missed the memo. She operates strictly on sunshine, boundless optimism, and an overwhelming desire to narrate every single moment of her day.
Read more about Medea
Silence simply does not exist in Medea’s world. Whether she is announcing her triumphant arrival from a nap, reviewing the quality of her dry kibble, or giving a breathless running commentary on a dust mote drifting near the baseboards, she always has a speech prepared. Her sunny disposition means every chirp, trill, and dramatic yell is delivered with maximum charm and zero indoor voice. To know Medea is to love her, mostly because she will happily corner you in the kitchen and talk your ear off until you agree that she is, indeed, the sweetest giant muffin to ever grace the tile floor.

12. Crabgrass
Young (3 months 21 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Crabgrass was part of a feral colony, but came to us young enough to decide that people are Just Fine! He's a real love bug, and wants as much lap time as possible. Crabby is a gorgeous light brown tabby, and looks like a sand cat. He's still a bit shy about new things and people, so he'd do best in a quite home, but would get along well with older kids and other pets.

21. Tucker
Adult · Male · American Shorthair / Tuxedo (short coat)

Meet Tucker! Tucker is a sweet, affectionate 2-year-old boy who was rescued after being found injured outdoors. He quickly showed everyone that he loves people, enjoys being petted, and has a gentle, easygoing personality. We suspect this lovely kitty has been abandoned because he is simply too sweet and trusting to be an outdoor feral cat. Tucker is recovering well from a bite wound and is FIV-positive, but with good care he can enjoy a long, happy life.

29. Bandit
5 Years 4 Months · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat)

Meet your new cuddle supervisor! This handsome 5-year-old is equal parts snuggle bug and comedian. He loves people, kisses, warm naps, toys, and a little catnip—but he'd still pick cuddling with you over all of them. He's perfectly happy with other cats, but dogs? Absolutely not. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. His taste in music leans heavily toward Taylor Swift, and rumor has it he's not a fan of NPR. He's FIV-positive, so he'll need regular vet care and likely some extra dental attention as he gets older. Don't let that scare you away—he'll repay every bit of love and care with a lifetime of purrs, companionship, and unconditional affection. Adopting a cat in Cooke County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
