1. Larry & Gary

Adult (1 year 6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from Cottonwood Shores

Meet Larry and Gary, two wonderful brothers with big hearts, different personalities, and a bond that makes it clear they belong together. Gary, also known as Curly, is the affectionate social butterfly who wants to be wherever the people are, while Larry is a little more independent and prefers to show his affection on his own terms. Together, they're a lovely pair who are ready to find a forever home that has room for both of them.

Read more about Larry & Gary

Gary is a true lovebug. He craves attention, loves being held, and is happiest snuggled up with his people, especially at bedtime. He's also a fan of the foster family dog, a small Bernedoodle, and enjoys playing with his canine friend. If you're looking for a cat who will happily soak up all the affection you have to offer, Gary is ready for the job.

Larry is a little more of a typical cat. He's friendly, affectionate, and easy to handle, but he's also content to do his own thing. He enjoys spending time with his people without needing constant attention. His more independent nature makes him a nice balance to Gary's enthusiastic approach to life.

Both boys are wonderful with children, even young ones. They're gentle, tolerant, comfortable being held, and have never shown any aggression. They adore their young friend in their foster home, seek her out, and love sleeping with her. Gary enjoys playing with the dog, while Larry generally keeps to himself.

These brothers are tightly bonded and love each other dearly. They spend much of their time together and often prefer playing with each other over toys. They enjoy sunny windowsills, the ball-track scratcher, and, of course, anything involving food. Both are extremely food motivated and enjoy dry food, Nulo puree treats, and dried chicken hearts. Larry tolerates nail trims very well, while Gary is a little more resistant but manageable.

Larry and Gary offer the best of both worlds: one attention-loving snugglebug and one friendly, more independent companion. They're wonderful family cats with plenty of love to give, and their bond is a special part of who they are.

If you're looking for two sweet companions to share your home, your sunny windowsills, and maybe even your bedtime, Larry and Gary are ready to meet you. These brothers are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

2. Felix & Bindy

Young (6 months) · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from Cottonwood Shores

Meet Felix and Bindy, a tuxedo boy and a gray-and-white girl who have been navigating life side by side and are finally ready for the best chapter yet: finding their forever home.

These two arrived at TP in mid-July after being surrendered in Kerrville. They were supposed to spend a short time decompressing before heading off to meet their forever family, but life had other plans. Felix and Bindy developed ringworm and spent the next eight weeks going through treatment together. Thankfully, that chapter is behind them, they're all cleared, and they are SO ready to get on with the business of being spoiled house cats.

Read more about Felix & Bindy

Felix and Bindy are affectionate, outgoing, playful, and wonderfully nosy. They move through life like a little two-cat team, playing together, sleeping near each other, investigating everything, and making sure neither misses out on whatever interesting thing is happening nearby. They don't necessarily need to be piled on top of each other to know where the other one is. They simply operate as a unit.

These two are enthusiastic participants in everything happening around them. They're curious, interactive, and very conversational, happily meowing to let you know when they'd like pets, when dinner is late, or when it's time to play. Their forever family should be prepared for plenty of purrs and frequent feline commentary.

When they're not busy chatting, they're busy playing. Wand toys, spring coils, fuzzy mice, and catnip are all excellent ways to earn their attention. They're energetic, smart, gentle, and full of personality. Once playtime is over, they'll happily settle into a sunny window, cozy heated bed, or perhaps the foot of your bed for a well-earned nap.

Both Felix and Bindy enjoy cuddles, being carried around, and a good brushing. They're confident in new places, very outgoing, and easy to get into a carrier. These are not wallflower cats. They're ready to come out, meet you, and get acquainted.

Felix and Bindy lived around other cats from birth until they were about three months old and have had positive experiences with kittens and cats. They're cat-curious and could learn to coexist with other feline friends, but their most important relationship is with each other. They've been together throughout their time at TP, sleep next to each other, play together, and need to find a home together.

They're also food motivated, so unattended meals may be considered an exciting opportunity for feline investigation. Both have excellent litter box habits, use scratching pads and posts appropriately, and permit nail trims, although neither is particularly interested in having their paws fussed over.

After surrender, treatment, and eight long weeks of ringworm recovery, Felix and Bindy are finally ready for the part they've been waiting for: a family of their very own.

If you're looking for two affectionate, outgoing, playful best friends who will greet you with purrs, opinions, and plenty of personality, Felix and Bindy are ready to meet you. Their forever home has been a long time coming, and these two are more than ready to move in.

Adult (3 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from Cottonwood Shores

Victoria
is a three year-old

brown female tabby.

She has been a sweet young mother to three kittens and is ready to live her own life.

She is very sweet and affectionate when she gets to know you. She can be shy at first and it may take a little time for her to warm up, but once she does, she craves and politely asks for pets and cuddles. She is not a fan of being picked up yet, but that could soon come in time. She loves to lay in the sun on the windowsill and prefers snuggling and pets over toys.

She is fine with other cats and OK with dogs also.

4. Lentil & Pinto

Young (6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from Cottonwood Shores

Meet Pinto & Lentil, a sweet bonded pair who have decided life is simply better together!

Lentil is a petite orange tabby with a gentle spirit and the sweetest quiet presence. She takes a moment to watch the world around her first and then happily joins the fun.

Pinto has discovered just how wonderful people can be, and now he's making the most of it! This handsome tabby boy, with an adorable little white smudge on his nose, is an affectionate, playful kitty who shares his purrs and sweet little meows with the people he trusts.

If there's a spring toy nearby, chances are this duo is already chasing it across the room. Always ready for another game, they will happily zoom from one adventure to the next before finding a cozy cat tree or soft bed to cuddle up together for a well-earned nap. When they want a little extra love, they will let you know with an endearing meow and a contented purr.

Lentil isn't a kitten who demands the spotlight. She's affectionate when you come to her, happily soaking up gentle pets while her soft purr lets you know she's enjoying every moment. Around new people she can be a little reserved but once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines through in the most heartwarming way.

Pinto enjoys attention, but he's happiest keeping all four paws on the ground. Rather than being carried around, he'd much rather walk over to say hello, ask for a few pets, and spend time beside you on his own terms. It's a charming little quirk that suits his independent streak while still showing just how much he enjoys being with his people. And he enjoys a friendly dog!

Both Lentil and Pinto have excellent litter box manners and usually cooperate nicely during nail trims. They love their mealtimes and are quite food motivated.

Lentil and Pinto would love to have a home with room to explore and play and interact with their people. They are curious about closed doors and eager to see what’s on the other side. Hopefully, it is you!

If you're looking for a pair of kitties who can be affectionate and playful, comfortable with each other, and their humans, and possibly a friendly dog, then Lentil and Pinto are the perfect match for you.

5. Fiona & Sasha

Adult (2 years 4 months) · Female · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 25 mi from Cottonwood Shores

Fiona and Sasha are bonded sisters a year and almost a year and a half old. Fiona and Sasha were trapped as kittens from an outside colony, but their first-time trapper got attached to them and their siblings! They spent their first year of life in their home with their human and their cat siblings and they had everything they needed. Then life unexpectedly changed for their human, and the kitties had to be rehomed.

Read more about Fiona & Sasha

Fiona and Sasha did not fully understand these changes at first. They missed their human, their
home and their cat housemates, but they are learning and accepting that they are safe and loved and that they will always have each other and lots of toys, attention and love!

They are becoming brave girls. Fiona takes the lead and loves wet food tube treats (think Churu) and getting chin scritches from your pointer finger. Sasha will follow her sister’s lead and if Fiona thinks you’re ok, Debbie will eventually, too. While Fiona seems confused, Sasha seems shy….but interested.

We know a home for these 2 deserving girls is out there. A home with patience, tube treats, a cat bed big enough for both of them and a forever family that will help them know what it is to have a home again.

They have been around other cats in the home. They have seen dogs through the window, but they have never met a dog up close before. They know human children exist, but they have not hung out with kids before.

Once they are settled and confident, they’ll be thundering down the hall like big brave girls. They are truly Thundering Paws cats, cats who needed a safe spot to land before they find their forever home.

Adopting Fiona and Sasha will be rewarding for everyone involved. Watching cats relax, learn to feel safe again, and figure out they are home with their forever humans is a joyful and fulfilling experience!

Adopting a cat in Cottonwood Shores

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
