7. Athena
Adult (1 year 7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 13 mi from Highland Village

Athena is a super sweet girl who was a fabulous mama to 6 kittens. Now is her time to shine and be pampered. She is very loving and affectionate. She did have an accident a long time ago and her upper eye lid was cut. The 3rd eyelid fused together and keeps the eye from closing all the way, so sometimes her eye waters but is easily taken care of with a simple wipe every now and then (which does not bother her). Vet thinks vision is all good and does not foresee any issues.
Read more about Athena
Athena will rub all over her hoomans and ask for pets. She’ll be great as a single cat or with another chill cat. Athena loves feathers! She's not a big fan of dogs; perhaps a dog caused her eye injury. Athena is healthy but will need to have her eye wiped clean once or twice a day. Since the eye won’t close, there's a little bit of tear buildup. Nothing serious.
Approx dob: 12/21/24.

15. Peach
Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 17 mi from Highland Village

Meet Peach, a kitten who is energetic, sweet, and always ready to explore. She was found as a stray and is now thriving in foster care with both cats and dogs. Peach can be a little nervous in new environments at first, but once she settles in, she loves to run, climb, wrestle, and play.
She is litter box trained and would do well in a home with plenty of enrichment, especially a cat tree. Another friendly pet could be a great match for her, though it is not required. Peach is affectionate on her own terms and tends to prefer hanging out nearby rather than being constantly held.

19. The Incredible Dash
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 17 mi from Highland Village

The Indredible Dash is fast and furious, tiny but tough. He loves to play with the ball tower, chase balls and toys. Right now he's all kitten and doesn't sit still for very long. Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 17 mi from Highland Village

Meet Jinx, a one-year-old bundle of curiosity, energy, and affection! Jinx is currently staying in our "Cat Dorm," located inside a female juvenile detention center near Waco, where she provides comfort and companionship to the young women there while also enjoying the company of other cats.
Jinx originally came to us through our PASS program while her owner worked through a difficult season. When it became clear that returning home would not be possible, her owner made the incredibly hard and loving decision to surrender Jinx and her companion, Kiba, for adoption.

Jinx is playful, smart, curious, and full of personality. She loves to explore, play, and keep herself entertained, but she is just as happy curling up for a cuddle when it's time to nap. She has that perfect mix of silly kitten energy and sweet, comforting companionship.

Adopting a cat in Highland Village
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
