1. Midnight
Kitten · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 46 mi from North Troy

Midnight and Eclipse are a 5-month-old bonded brother/sister pair. We will only adopt them out together. These two beautiful black kittens where brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan when their mother was killed by the side of the road, leaving the kittens behind. Their foster mom described them: "Midnight starts purring the moment you pick him up. They both like to climb, the higher the better. They are big helpers; they help me make the bed, fold the laundry, work on the computer. In the evening, when it's time to feed them, I call, 'Where are my babies?', and they come running for their food and stand on their back legs.

Whatever room I'm in the house, they're right there with me.Midnight is a caretaker cat; my friend was in the hospital and was still very weak when he came home . He spent a lot of time on the couch with Midnight right beside him, often for hours. They are both very entertaining kittens. They are easy going cats and are a delight to have around." Since the kittens have been at the shelter we have found them to be curious, playful and just wonderful companions. As part of our regular intake routine, both kittens received medical assessments by our clinic veterinarian when they first came to the shelter. At that time, it was discovered that Midnight, the male kitten, has a congenital heart disease that unfortunately is not treatable. As a result, Midnight may have a shortened life span. It is hard to predict his life expectancy, but currently he is doing great, his energy is good, he is gaining weight and he has no idea he is sick, playing and running around as happily as his sister Eclipse. Our veterinarian shares that play and exercise are good for Midnight as he should maintain a healthy weight, and that he should be seen by a vet twice a year for monitoring. And the more love he receives the better! As a result of these unique circumstances, this bonded brother/sister pair are looking for a special adopter with a big heart, who will give them a loving home together and love them just as they are. You can visit these cats at Kingdom Animal Shelter during open hours on Saturdays from noon to 3pm. Please note that Kingdom Animal Shelter is not a "same day" adoption shelter. 3. Savannah
Adult · Female · Domestic Long Hair · 46 mi from North Troy

Savannah is a beautiful 5-year-old, fluffy dilute calico. Savannah is very sweet, loves people and the minute you enter her room she starts purring loudly, rubbing against you for attention and petting. She came upon hard times when her owner passed away, and she found herself outside lost in a field during the winter. Due to being outside, her long beautiful fur was matted, and she needed a good shave and medical attention. The clinic vet discovered she had chronic polyps in her ears and recommends an adopter should get her used to just allowing petting and general touch around her head and ears, so she can become more comfortable with touch around her ear area.
Read more about Savannah
Savannah doesn't mind normal petting around her head and ears, if she doesn't feel she's being held too tightly or being examined. For this reason, it would be best that Savannah go to an adult home or a home with older children who can approach her gently and be mindful of her touching needs. It is also recommended that an adopter work with their regular veterinarian on a plan to monitor and treat the ears when needed. Other than her ear sensitivity, Savannah is loving, enjoys when people come to spend time with her, weaving around their legs and asking for gentle petting. She enjoys scratches under her chin and on her cheeks and basking in the sun on a good window spot to watch outside. Savannah is afraid of other cats and dogs, and needs to be the only pet in her home. You can visit Savannah at Kingdom Animal Shelter during open hours on Saturdays from noon to 3pm. Please note that Kingdom Animal Shelter is not a "same day" adoption shelter. Please visit our website at http://www.kingdomanimalshelter.com/adopt-a-cat.html to learn about our adoption process.

6. Griffin
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 46 mi from North Troy

Griffin is an adorable, playful 2-year-old boy who is looking for a loving, cat-savvy home. He had a very rough start in his young life. When Griffin came to the Shelter, he had many small wounds around his neck and head. At first, he was fearful and shying away, but he warmed up soon towards his caretakers. The people who surrendered him indicated that he was abused as a kitten in his previous home. Griffin has a social and cheerful personality, but at times he still reacts out of fear. He likes to lie on one's chest and be petted, but he fears hands when he sees them close by. With patience and skillful handling he will be able to overcome his traumatic experiences and eventually trust fully.
Read more about Griffin
Since Griffin is afraid of other cats, he is having a hard time at the Shelter, watching kitties outside his room every day. He is also very sad to be confined, although he has a large room on his own. Griffin needs to be an only pet, and he would be so happy to have a spacious indoor home, where he can explore, feel safe, and loved. Griffin is a great little guy and just needs a chance to become the joyous, affectionate companion cat that he truly is. You can visit Griffin at the Shelter during open hours on Saturdays from noon-3pm, or ask for a private visiting time after submitting an application. Adopting a cat in North Troy
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
