Meet Haru! Haru is a handsome 3-year-old guy who has perfected the art of living life at his own pace. But don’t let that sleepy personality fool you—Haru is a nighttime guy! Once the sun goes down, his inner kitten comes out, and he may entertain himself with some late-night zoomies and exploring. He loves checking out his surroundings and finding the perfect hiding spot, comfy nap location, or window where he can keep an eye on the neighborhood.Haru can be cuddly, but he believes cuddles should happen on his schedule.

He’s happy to hang out with his people, but he’ll let you know when he’s ready for affection. He does okay with respectful children, but he would prefer kids who understand that poking, pestering, or bothering him isn't the way to win his heart. Dogs: Haru is not a fan and would prefer a dog-free home. Cats: He has never lived with another cat, so we don't know how he would feel about a feline roommate. Closed doors: Absolutely not! Haru believes every door in his home should remain open for exploration. He likes having the freedom to wander around and investigate all the best hiding, sleeping, and window-watching spots.Haru does have one important medical need. He is currently on a special urinary diet, and this will need to remain part of his routine for the rest of his life. His future family will need to be committed to keeping him on his prescribed food to help keep him healthy and feeling his best. ❤️If you're looking for a laid-back companion who enjoys naps, nighttime adventures, exploring every corner of the house, and affection when he decides it's cuddle time, Haru might just be your guy! 7. Al
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 94 mi from Lakewood

Hi, my name is Abernath. I was rescued as a "feral", but I can tell you, that is NOT the life for me!! It took me a bit to adjust to indoor life, and I am still a bit timid, but believe me, life is MUCH better now!! SCC is helping me to find that purr-fect home! So let me tell you about myself. I am about 1 year old. I did get a clean bill of health at the vet, and snip snip, I am good to go! I am a loyal and clingy cat - I want to be with my person. A bit of patience while I adjust to my new home is a plus. It will be rewarded with a lap companion. I do get a bit overstimulated, and might bite or maybe swat at a foot to get attention, so, older kids might be be better at reading my cat signs.

I am very playful and a skillful hunter of toy mice. Probably from my street life, I am a bit bossy but I am getting better with other cats and I might adjust well with a dog, too! Of course size, age and breed are considerations and of course, slow chaperoned introductions are always better! I am quite comfortable in my new indoor life, so a perch by the window to watch the birds and squirrels outside. I am current on my vaccines and microchipped and very good with my litterbox.

11. Flower
Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 94 mi from Lakewood

Hi, my name is Flower. My human parents moved away and thought it would be too much for me to make the move so, now, I am staying with my human grandma and she is going to help me find a new home. In the right environment, I would really do great, but I am living with another cat and he is not nice to me. So, let me tell you about myself. I am about 3 years old. I was trapped in a barn with my mom. Patience will win you great rewards from me, because I will be timid at first, until I get comfortable, and once I build the trust, I am all in. I am a bit treat driven and am a very playful girl.

I would be best in a quieter home environment. Toddlers and younger kids can be a bit overwhelming for me. I would do ok with kids over 12, after I am comfortable. I have lived with a dog and a cat (other than my current tormenter) and I actually did ok with them. Of course, slow introductions are always best. I have lived an indoor life and that is fine by me. I am current on my vaccines and microchipped and I am very good with my litter box.

12. Poppy
Adult (3 years 1 month) · Female · American Shorthair / Tuxedo / Mixed (short coat) · 97 mi from Lakewood

Got an extra cat bed and a big heart? I'm looking for a patient, loving person who will give me the time I need to blossom. I was rescued from under a house with my five kittens, and its been quite a journey. My foster mom says I'm the gentlest cat she's ever known — I would never bite or swat. For most of my nearly two years, I didn't know people could be a source of love and comfort. I was a devoted mom who always let my babies eat first and kept them safe when things got scary. Then something wonderful happened: I discovered pets, purring, and even laps! Im still learning, and I sometimes hide when I feel unsure, but Im doing it less and less. More and more, Im coming out to watch the household action and even join in.

I love being around other cats and don't mind dogs. Im a litter-box pro and, best of all, I've decided I never want to live outside again. I'm ready to become the soft, spoiled housecat I was meant to be. I just need someone who believes in me and will be patient while I learn how wonderful life can be. Maybe you're my special someone?

13. Cm
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 94 mi from Lakewood

Hi, my name is Luna - seriously, I could use your help. Once upon a time, life was good, but as our family grew and got busy, my human mom knew I wasn't crazy about all of the activity and she let me go live with my human grandma, but now, she has another cat and, well, here I am! My mom thinks I would be a happier girl in a quiet home where I can be the center of the universe. So, about me, I am about 6 years old. As you can imagine, I would do much better in a quieter home. Kids over 12 would be better because they are better able to read my cat signs. I am not good with other cats. I live with a dog and I actually do ok.

I bop him on the butt when he goes by, but we don't fight. I kinda get into trouble eating plastic, like bags so, that is something to be aware of. I am a bit food motivated and probably could use a diet. I do like sleeping with my human, most frequently on the pillow. I do like the simple things, like cardboard boxes and small hiding spots. I will be brought current on my RCP vaccine and microchipped as a part of the adoption process.

Bringing a cat home to your dog
Tell the rescue about your dog: their size, age and energy. A cat who has lived with a calm dog may still be nervous around a bouncy puppy.
Introduce them slowly. Keep the cat in a room of their own for the first few days, swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, and then let them meet with the dog on a leash.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, and keep the litter box and food bowls out of the dog's way.
