12. Miss Cleo
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 24 mi from Port St. John

Cleo is 100% an attention seeking cat. She can't stand not being involved. Cooking dinner, watching TV, doing a workout, she wants in on it.She spent months being an incredibly patient, never-tired mom to her 5 kittens, and now that they're weaned she's got a backlog of energy to burn. She's a seriously good jumper and climber. She's not a pick-me-up kind of cat yet, but she's starting to settle onto laps on her own terms. Fair warning: she'll turn on the charm to reel you in, and it might be a trick until she actually trusts you. Also, she is VERY into bird videos on YouTube.

13. Marinara
Female · Domestic Short Hair · 24 mi from Port St. John

This sweet girl was abandoned while pregnant. We were able to get her and her babies to safety. She's done a great job raising her five babies and even adopted three other babies that needed a momma! She still lets them nurse too! The most patient momma ever! Now it's time for her to find a forever home. Maybe even consider adopting one of her babies too! She's very sweet and mellow. I think she would do best in a quiet home. Good with other cats, happy to see them but not overbearing. Not sure what she thinks of dogs. The shy ones get so overlooked, please give her a chance win her over with churus!!

Adopting a cat in Port St. John
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
