2. Sabrina
Young (2 years 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Sabrina is exactly like a homemade cookie or favorite blanket - warm, soft and comforting. Curious and intelligent, cozy and quiet, she learns routines quickly and loves to observe everything you do. Sabrina would love to be your only pet or share the space with a calm, respectful cat after a slow and intentional introduction (she is friendly with other cats and tends to avoid conflict, but I always recommend Jackson Galaxy's method for proper introductions). Her ideal home? Quiet and full of cozy spaces- especially by the window. Sabrina is shy but sweet and is the kind of cat who will come running to greet you at the door and jump on the couch to binge watch with you for a good cuddle and peaceful vibes.

If you’re looking for a low-key feline friend Sabrina may just be your perfect match. Sabrina is easily one of the most well-behaved cats I've ever had the pleasure of fostering, and I hope someone just as special takes a chance on her because she is soul cat material - the kind of cat that makes people who don't like cats change their minds. To meet this young lady, please email her foster mom at: eovasquez18@gmail.com. Adoption is only $50 and includes her spay surgery, initial vaccines, rabies, microchip and FELV/FIV testing.

7. Sandra 2.26.26
Young (7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat)

Shy at first, this sweet girl is incredibly loving once comfortable! She will adorably prance and make biscuits just to get your attention. She loves a good pet so much that she becomes an endearing happy-drooler. She also gets along wonderfully with other cats. Give her a little patience, and she’ll reward you with a lifetime of affection!
- Good with cats
8. Bubba
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Bubba (also known as Bubba Ganoush or Bubba Baby) is a playful and fun cat! He loves to be near his people all day. If he’s not sitting on your lap, he’s perched on a cat tower or laying on the couch near you. Bubba was rescued as a stray and he adapted to house cat life so quickly. He plays well with other cats and has learned appropriate cat behavior from his cat foster siblings. It seems the only habit he’s held on to from street cat life is some food anxiety. He can be a little too eager to eat, but is never aggressive over food. His foster parents have nothing but great things to say about him and he will be a wonderful addition to someone's home!

9. Bamboo
Adult (1 year 6 months) · Female · Tabby / Mixed (short coat)

Hi, I'm Bamboo!
Not too long ago, I was living around a trailer park, doing my best to get by on my own. Luckily, some kind people noticed how friendly I was and decided I deserved a chance at a better life. They were right! I'm a meet-and-greet kind of girl who doesn't believe in being a stranger for long. I happily approach new people and am always interested in making new friends. When you first pick me up, I might be a little tense while I figure out what's going on, but once I realize I'm safe, I relax and settle right in.

My favorite thing in the world is affection. Pet me for a minute, and you'll hear my purr motor start up in appreciation. If I'm feeling especially happy, I might even roll onto my back to show just how content I am. I love being loved and I'm not shy about showing it. If you're looking for a sweet, friendly companion who enjoys people and thrives on attention, I think you'll find that I'm exactly the kind of cat who turns a house into a home.

Hi, I'm Bowzer, and I came to the shelter with my good friend Meowzers. Everything has been a little overwhelming, especially since I'm the kind of guy who takes my time deciding who I can trust. Once you've earned my trust, my real personality shines through. I'm affectionate, friendly, and surprisingly outgoing. I enjoy spending time with my favorite people and am always happy to be included in whatever you're doing.

I'm also a playful fellow! Feather toys and toy balls are some of my favorites, and I can have a great time chasing, pouncing, and showing off my hunting skills. Jack is a sweet, loving six-month-old kitten whose favorite place to sleep is curled up beside you. Playful and friendly, he gets along beautifully with dogs, other cats, and even rabbits!

With plenty of love and care, he has grown into a healthy five-pound sweetheart, and both of his siblings have found their forever homes.

19. Artichoke
Senior (8 years) · Female · Tabby / Mixed (short coat)

Hi, I'm Artichoke,
Losing my person and everything familiar was a lot for a senior girl like me. There was no plan for me or my two kitty friends so a relative was regularly coming in to feed us for a while. Because I would hide, they thought I wasn't very affectionate.
Once the folks at the shelter got to know me, they discovered the real me. I'm actually one of the sweetest cats you'll ever meet! I love being petted, loved on, and fussed over. The more attention I get, the happier I am. I'll gladly settle in beside you and soak up every bit of affection you have to offer.

These days, my dream is simple: a cozy home, a comfy couch, and a person to share it with. I'm a gentle senior lady with plenty of love left to give, and I think I'd make the perfect couch potato companion for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate friend.

22. Space Camp
Young (4 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Space Camp!
She is one of those rare female gingers and is the shyest and gentlest member of the Camper litter. She can be reserved around new people and may need a little time to feel comfortable, but underneath that cautious exterior is a kind, loving, and happy kitten. Once she feels safe, her purrs begin, her affectionate personality comes through, and she will repay your patience with cuddles and love.
Read more about Space Camp
Space prefers quieter playtime and enjoys small plastic toys, catnip toys, and feather wands. She has not been introduced to dogs but loves being around other cats. Her ideal home would be a calm household with a patient family and a friendly feline companion to help her feel secure.
Space shares an incredibly special bond with her brother, Band Camp. Band is outgoing, playful, and adventurous, while Space is gentle, thoughtful, and reserved. Their personalities perfectly complement each other, and his confidence helps her adjust to new situations. They play together, sleep together, and can often be found cuddling with their paws wrapped around each other. Watching them hug, play, and care for one another is truly wonderful.
Our greatest hope is that Space and Band will be adopted together. Band gives Space confidence and reassurance, while Space gives Band a gentle, loving companion. Adopting them as a pair would allow them to adjust to their new home together while giving their family twice the affection, entertainment, and love.
Space Camp is litter-box trained and uses her kitten scratch boards. She is tested neg /neg for FIV and FeLV, microchipped, spayed, and has completed her age-appropriate vaccinations.
Preference will be given to a family interested in adopting Space Camp and Band Camp together. However, individual adoption may still be considered if the right patient home and suitable feline companionship are available.

23. Band Camp
Young (4 months 26 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Band Camp, the most outgoing and energetic member of the Camper litter! This handsome little guy is extremely loving, endlessly curious, and happiest when he is near his people. Band is always ready for playtime, kitten parkour, or an investigation of something new. To him, everything is a toy. His favorites are squishy toys, mylar balls, plastic springs, feather wands, and shoelaces. He also enjoys scratching posts and kitten scratch boards.
Read more about Band Camp
Once playtime is over, Band’s affectionate side takes over. His purr motor is fully installed, and he is an excellent lap cat and snuggle buddy. He loves attention, seeks out human companionship, and will happily curl up with his foster family when he is ready for a nap. Band has not yet been exposed to dogs, but with his confident and social personality, he may do well with a cat-friendly dog after slow and careful introductions. He is gentle enough for pet respectful children age 8 or older. Because he is a quick and energetic kitten who loves racing underfoot, he may not be the best match for an elderly household. Band is litter-box trained and uses his scratching surfaces appropriately. Band is neutered, completed his kitten vaccination series, Rabies vaccs, microchipped, and is FIV neg /FeLV neg.
Preference will be given to a family interested in adopting Band Camp and Space Camp together.
Band shares a special bond with his sister, Space Camp. Band is the confident adventurer, while Space is the sweet, gentle observer. Their personalities perfectly complement each other, and they bring out the best in one another. They play together, sleep together, and can often be found cuddling with their paws wrapped around each other. Band’s confidence helps Space feel safe, while her calm nature gives him a loving companion when playtime is over. Our ideal outcome would be for Band and Space to be adopted together. They are a ready-made family and would enter their new home with a familiar playmate, snuggle partner, and source of comfort. For someone considering two kittens, they truly are a perfect pair.

30. Mouse
Young (3 months 9 days) · Male · Tabby / Mixed (short coat)

Hi, I'm Mouse, and I have quite the story to tell!
When I was little, I spent my first couple of months as an only kitten. That meant I got lots of practice being the perfect people-cat. I loved snuggling in laps, soaking up attention, and purring right into your ear while you held me. Honestly, I thought life was all about cuddles and being adored.
Read more about Mouse
Then I met some kittens my own age... and let's just say I had a lot to learn. I wanted so badly to join the fun, but nobody had ever taught me proper kitten wrestling rules. I played a little too rough and didn't always realize when my bites or scratches were too hard. That's the kind of thing littermates and mama cats usually teach, and I had missed out on those lessons.
Lucky for me, my foster home had four confident kittens who weren't afraid to put me in my place. They teamed up, wrestled with me, and patiently taught me some much-needed kitty manners. It turns out the best teachers sometimes come with paws!
These days, I'm a whole new guy. I have lots of kitten friends to chase, wrestle, play, and snuggle with. I love spending time with my feline buddies, but I haven't forgotten how much I adore people, too. Give me a lap, some pets, and a chance to purr in your ear, and I'll be one happy boy.
I'm Mouse, and I've grown into the best of both worlds: a sweet cuddle bug who also knows how to be a great friend to other cats. Could I be the missing piece of your family?

All cats must leave the store in a carrier. No cats can be carried out of the store without a carrier. Our adoption fees range from $100 - $150.

Most of the animals in our care are foster animals from Orange County Animal Services (OCAS), in other words the property of OCAS. Anyone wanting to adopt one of these animals completes an application form and must submit the form in person at OCAS directly. The adoption for these animals is $40, one of the requirements is verification of pet policy if the potential adoptor rents. The adoption process for animals owned by KFCI is similar but adoption fees vary depending on each individual animal; however we try to keep the fee as close to $40 as possible even if our expenses were significantly more.

All potential adopters are required to fill out an application for consideration. We adopt our cats to the home that is the best fit; we are not first come, first serve rescue. For an application to be approved, the potential adopter must not declaw, allow their pets outside (screened area OK), must have current pets spayed or neutered and combo tested. In addition, anyone who rents must provide proof they are allowed to have a pet and pay any fees in advance. Once approved, we require a contract to finalize the adoption. The potential adopter can take their new family member home as long as all vetting has been completed in advance through our organization (i.e. must be spayed and neutered, must have a clean fecal)

Adopting a cat in Sumter County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
