6. Amy Poehler
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 3 mi from New Brunswick

Meet Amy Poehler, an 8-year-old sweetheart who recently found herself in a bit of a plot twist. Surrendered through no fault of her own, Amy is understandably a little cautious in new places. She may hide at first, but just walk into the room and the purrs begin! Before long, she'll come out to say hello, rub against you, or settle beside you for some well-deserved pets, like a warm blanket on a chilly evening. Her adorable pink nose and beautiful green eyes, the color of the last leaves clinging to the trees, are hard to resist, but her affectionate personality is what will really steal your heart.Amy enjoys a little wand-toy play and loves her catnip toys, but mostly she just wants to be near her person.

After so many changes, she'll need a patient adopter who will let her adjust and blossom on her own timeline, just like the changing seasons. A cozy home with someone around to keep her company would be ideal. She hasn't been tested with other animals yet, but may enjoy a feline friend.Basically, Amy is looking for a comfy couch, a favorite human, some catnip, and absolutely no more unexpected plot twists. Give her a little time and patience, and this sweet girl will be ready to make herself right at home, with a mug of cider in your hand and a purring cat in your lap.Amy Poehler is FeLV/FIV negative, up to date with vaccinations, flea treated, microchipped, and spayed. Her birthday is estimated to be around 9/15/2018.

7. Pipsqueak ( TAS
Adult (2 years 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Two-year-old Pipsqueak was surrendered by an owner who said she had too many cats. Thin and wary, this little miss seems not too interested in visitors. She can't resist kissy-kissy sounds, though, and relaxes when she hears a soft voice. We drew her out with chin rubs. Pipsqueak is looking forward to healthful meals, a windowsill to call her own and someone to love. 8. Isle
Kitten (6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Pure joy, nosy Rosie, laid back, independent, low maintenance are all ways to describe Isle. She is energetic and loves to play, either by herself or with her foster brother. She is curious and will be right with you to investigate what you are doing. She is very social and will "talk" to you, especially if she is hungry or mistakenly closed in a room. She adjusts very easily and is not a cat who hides, as she is very self confident. She has proven to be a great companion in which coming home to is a pleasure. Obviously she is quite beautiful with her plush fluffy tail, her medium long coat and outgoing personality.

9. Pearl Stone
Young (2 years 3 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Sweet Pearl Stone has had a tough year! She was adopted as a kitten along and returned when her adopter could no longer care for her. Then she was adopted again this spring, but although her family loved her very much, she could not get along with her adopters’ other cat. Sometimes this happens; however, Pearl has gotten along fine with other cats in her first home and in her current foster home, so she does not need to be the only cat. Pearl can be a little timid at first in new places, but she warms up in one day, but her favorite place to be is in someone’s lap, and she loves getting scratched behind her ears. She is still young and playful, and she is good with kids. She wants to get her forever home (and this time really forever) soon. Who is going to adopt this adorable girl ?

Skizzle is a gorgeous brown tabby with a sweet personality to match. This handsome boy recently found himself back with Trenton Cats Rescue after his owner developed an allergy, and now he’s looking for a new family to call his own. Skizzle is loving, curious, and people-oriented. He may need a little time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side really shines. 16. Professor Pumpkin Paws
Adult (2 years 8 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

This is Professor Pumpkin Paws. His foster mom calls him Pumpkin because while he looks regal, he can be a silly goose, and she's pretty sure he never went to college. Pumpkin is a sweet, curious, chatty orange boy. He never met a treat or a person he didn't love. This guy wants to be your personal orange shadow. He's got lots of fun energy but also knows how to relax next to you for cuddle time.
Read more about Professor Pumpkin Paws
Pumpkin is FIV+, but it doesn't slow him down! FIV is a lifelong condition that affects the immune system, making cats more susceptible to secondary illnesses like upper respiratory infections. Cats with FIV can live a long healthy life with annual vet appointments to make sure everything is okay.
FIV is also not easily contagious. The only ways to contract it are from mother to kitten or from a very deep bite from a positive cat to a negative cat.
Pumpkin would do well as an only cat or with others as long as he's properly introduced.
Please reach out to learn more. He is such a special guy and would make a great addition to any home.

17. Liberty Belle
Adult (3 years 3 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Liberty Belle knows secrets, and she's not telling. This little lady, a stray who is around 3 years old, seems wise beyond her age. She is self-assured and calm, but far from lazy. She simply takes in everything she sees. We picture Liberty Belle in a quiet household with plenty of windowsills to use as perches.
This sweet little Mama gave birth at the shelter on the fourth of July. She's since been living her days caring for her little precious babies in a foster.

19. Woodmere
Adult (1 year 3 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Woodmere is a beautiful, gentle, occasionally chatty girl who was likely born over the summer of 2025. Summer 2026 found her somewhat reluctantly saddled with a large litter of kittens. When the kittens were a few days old, a basket with this cat family was unexpectedly handed to one of our volunteers in Trenton. We assume that Woodmere's human family had been kind to her (she loves attention from people) but no longer wanted her when they saw the effects of letting her outdoors. Woodmere, with some help from her foster mom (seven kittens required more milk than a 6-to-7-pound cat could produce) successfully raised her kittens and will have no more.
Read more about Woodmere
Now Woodmere is ready for a home where she can rest without kittens jumping on her and stealing her treats to bat around the floor. She tries to play with toys but usually backs off when her kittens join in the fun, so we are pretty sure she has a playful side. She does not demand attention, but she very much enjoys hugs and pets and a warm lap. If you'd like to meet Woodmere or think this cat would be a good match for your family, please complete our adoption questionnaire at http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ and let your references know someone will be contacting them soon. Chito is an American Shorthair who is a little shy when you meet him but once you get him out of his shell, the affection never stops! Chito, like his bonded partner Nani, loves cuddles, pets, and is not shy about letting you know! His preferred place to be pet is by his tail as he starts purring and rolling around as a sign of approval.

22. Midnight
Adult (4 years 6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 25 mi from New Brunswick

Midnight has had a complete transformation since coming to us. When he was first left at the shelter by his family, he was terrified and let it out on anyone who came near him. However, within 24 hours in a foster home, he had calmed down, and within a week it was like seeing a completely different cat. We're not sure what it was that upset him - being left alone, being stuck in a cage, having other loud dogs around, or all three - but we do know he is doing much better now.
Read more about Midnight
Although initially Midnight may be hesitant when getting to know someone for the first time, once he trusts you this sweet cat LOVES attention and affection. He will get as close to you or your hands as possible if it means he can get pet. Midnight has a LOT of energy - initially he seemed like an overgrown kitten unsure how to play, but now with the right toys he will leap in the air. He has no problem laying in your lap and will crawl right onto you so he can get some love! We have found that he does do okay with other cats and gets along with his foster cat buddy, but he doesn't understand cat social cues so will need his family to be patient and help with a very slow introduction. He also seems to do fine with children if they learn to give him space to adjust and recognize when he is overstimulated. Please take this handsome guy home!

Adopting a cat with children in New Brunswick
Bring the whole family to meet the cat before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the cat behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the cat come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the cat alone while it's eating, sleeping or using the litter box. Give the cat a high or quiet spot to retreat to.
Relaxed adult cats are often a better match for young children than kittens, which scratch and nip while they play.
