5. Al
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 22 mi from Gresham

Hi, my name is Abernath. I was rescued as a "feral", but I can tell you, that is NOT the life for me!! It took me a bit to adjust to indoor life, and I am still a bit timid, but believe me, life is MUCH better now!! SCC is helping me to find that purr-fect home! So let me tell you about myself. I am about 1 year old. I did get a clean bill of health at the vet, and snip snip, I am good to go! I am a loyal and clingy cat - I want to be with my person. A bit of patience while I adjust to my new home is a plus. It will be rewarded with a lap companion. I do get a bit overstimulated, and might bite or maybe swat at a foot to get attention, so, older kids might be be better at reading my cat signs.

I am very playful and a skillful hunter of toy mice. Probably from my street life, I am a bit bossy but I am getting better with other cats and I might adjust well with a dog, too! Of course size, age and breed are considerations and of course, slow chaperoned introductions are always better! I am quite comfortable in my new indoor life, so a perch by the window to watch the birds and squirrels outside. I am current on my vaccines and microchipped and very good with my litterbox.

6. Lella
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 22 mi from Gresham

Lella is playful and affectionate. She enjoys tossing and chasing her toys and running through the house, at times racing to be ahead of you, where ever she thinks you may be heading. Lella enjoys pets and soft blankets to knead her paws and bury her nose in. She likes to keep a close eye on her human and will follow around the home. Lella enjoys sitting at the window and looking outside (she loves her cat window perch). Lella may be somewhat aloof initially and will want a private place to perch, usually a high spot. Once she feels safe and is comfortable, her fun and spunky nature shines through. Lella is : Spayed - Vaccinated - Dewormed - Treated for Fleas- Negative Tested for FeLV and FIV – Microchipped.

7. Flower
Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed · 22 mi from Gresham

Hi, my name is Flower. My human parents moved away and thought it would be too much for me to make the move so, now, I am staying with my human grandma and she is going to help me find a new home. In the right environment, I would really do great, but I am living with another cat and he is not nice to me. So, let me tell you about myself. I am about 3 years old. I was trapped in a barn with my mom. Patience will win you great rewards from me, because I will be timid at first, until I get comfortable, and once I build the trust, I am all in. I am a bit treat driven and am a very playful girl.

I would be best in a quieter home environment. Toddlers and younger kids can be a bit overwhelming for me. I would do ok with kids over 12, after I am comfortable. I have lived with a dog and a cat (other than my current tormenter) and I actually did ok with them. Of course, slow introductions are always best. I have lived an indoor life and that is fine by me. I am current on my vaccines and microchipped and I am very good with my litter box.

8. Cm
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 22 mi from Gresham

Hi, my name is Luna - seriously, I could use your help. Once upon a time, life was good, but as our family grew and got busy, my human mom knew I wasn't crazy about all of the activity and she let me go live with my human grandma, but now, she has another cat and, well, here I am! My mom thinks I would be a happier girl in a quiet home where I can be the center of the universe. So, about me, I am about 6 years old. As you can imagine, I would do much better in a quieter home. Kids over 12 would be better because they are better able to read my cat signs. I am not good with other cats. I live with a dog and I actually do ok.

I bop him on the butt when he goes by, but we don't fight. I kinda get into trouble eating plastic, like bags so, that is something to be aware of. I am a bit food motivated and probably could use a diet. I do like sleeping with my human, most frequently on the pillow. I do like the simple things, like cardboard boxes and small hiding spots. I will be brought current on my RCP vaccine and microchipped as a part of the adoption process.

Bringing a cat home to your dog
Tell the rescue about your dog: their size, age and energy. A cat who has lived with a calm dog may still be nervous around a bouncy puppy.
Introduce them slowly. Keep the cat in a room of their own for the first few days, swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, and then let them meet with the dog on a leash.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, and keep the litter box and food bowls out of the dog's way.
