Sadly, sometimes circumstances change even when the love is still there, and Patches found herself needing a new place to call home. Thankfully, Patches is healthy and ready for her next chapter! She does need a special diet to support her urinary health, but otherwise, she is ready to fill someone’s days with affection, companionship, and plenty of reasons to smile. She isn’t asking for much - just a person who will welcome her affection, enjoy her sweet company, and let her love them as wholeheartedly as she clearly wants to. She has so much love to give, and we hope her next family is out there waiting for a girl just like her.

Adult (6 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Meow meet Fritter! Sometimes the sweetest cats are the ones who quietly find their way to us! Fritter showed up at an established cat colony, presumably after being left there, and it’s hard to imagine someone leaving behind a girl this gentle and loving. Fritter is an absolute sweetheart. She is quiet, docile, affectionate, and wonderfully easygoing. She can be picked up and loves nothing more than being petted, especially those soft scratches behind her ears. Give her a cozy blanket to curl up on, and she is perfectly content to settle in and enjoy some well deserved comfort. She gets along well with other cats and would be a wonderful companion for a senior or a home with older respectful children.

Fritter doesn’t ask for much - just a little kindness, a soft place to sleep, and someone who will appreciate her gentle heart. Maybe Fritter’s greatest wish is a simple one: a cozy blanket, a gentle hand to pet her, and a person who is happy to have her close. After finding her way to a colony, she deserves to find her way into someone’s heart - and this sweet girl has all the love needed to make a house feel like home!

25. Kanga
Senior · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Meow meet Kanga! Kanga is the kind of cat who may quietly break your heart - in the very best way. This beautiful 9 year old brown tabby girl was found as a stray alongside a kitten named Roo. Once she was safe, we learned that Kanga is FIV positive and has mild cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which gives her a little wobble. But those things don’t define Kanga. They are simply a few things she carries with her. What truly defines her is the incredibly sweet girl underneath it all. Kanga can be a bit shy at first and simply needs a little time to become comfortable. But once she does, the transformation is beautiful.
Read more about Kanga
She becomes your shadow, quietly following her personal and soaking up every bit of affection she can get. She loves head and neck scratches, has the softest, cutest little meow, and even though she prefers to keep her feet on the ground, she will happily crawl into your lap when she wants to be close. She would thrive in a quiet home without children where she can take her time settling in. She could be a wonderful companion for a senior or anyone who understands that sometimes the deepest bonds aren’t instant - they are built a little slower, one gentle moment at a time. Kanga has spent enough of her life wondering where she belongs. What she needs now isn’t someone looking for a perfect cat; she needs someone who sees the perfectly wonderful cat standing right in front of them. Give Kanga a little time, a quiet place, and a lap to call her own, and she just might give you the sweetest kind of friendship - the kind that quietly becomes a part of your heart before you even realize it!
With regular vet care and a safe indoor life, FIV+ cats like Kanga can live, long happy lives--just like any other kitty! Here is an

Adopting a cat in Juniata County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
