1. Kitten Spot

Kitten · Male · Domestic Long Hair (long coat)

Meet Spot!
Spot is 5 months old, white with the most perfect black spots, and 100% convinced he is a dog.
He doesn't just walk into a room — he trots in, with that fluffy black tail in the air. He comes when called, follows you from room to room like a shadow, brings you his toys to play fetch, and will happily sit on your feet while you work. He loves a good pillow nap, but he'd rather be right next to you than anywhere else.
Found napping, playing, and posing like a pro, Spot has mastered:

The head-tilt stare that says "throw it again"
The paw-up "shake" (we're still working on it, but he's got the spirit)
The classic flop-and-roll for belly rubs
Guarding his favorite sage-green pillow like it's his job

He's playful, people-focused, curious, and incredibly sweet. Spot would love a home where he can be your little sidekick — on the couch, by the desk, or patrolling the hallway like the good boy he knows he is.
He's not a cat who thinks he's a dog. He's a dog who happens to look like a cat.
Age: 5 months Likes: pillows, people, toys that jingle, being included in everything Dislikes: being ignored, closed doors Superpower: making you laugh at least 10 times a day
Think you need a dog? Maybe you just need Spot.

Meet Amelia Earhart! ✈️
Amelia Earhart is a 5-month-old tortoiseshell kitten with a coat like autumn leaves — swirls of inky black, warm caramel, and smoky gray — and big green eyes that look straight into your soul.
Don't let that serious little face fool you, this girl is an explorer at heart. Named for the famous aviator, she's always on a mission: to investigate every corner, climb every pillow mountain, and take off on daring flights of fancy (also known as zoomies).

4. Moose

Young · Male · Tuxedo

Meet Moose!
Moose is not your average house cat — he's a large gray tuxedo gentleman in a crisp white bib and mittens, and he knows he looks good.
This young adult male is big, soft, and wonderfully sturdy. He loves to be near his people, whether that's supervising from the couch, leaning in for chin scratches, or flopping over to show off that handsome tuxedo belly. He's playful in that goofy young-adult way — feather wands, crinkle balls, and batting toys around — but he also has a calm, affectionate side and is happy to just loaf next to you.
Moose is FIV+. What does that mean? It just means he carries the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

Read more about Moose

FIV+ cats can and do live long, happy, completely normal lives indoors. It can't be transmitted to people or dogs, and it spreads only through deep bite wounds between cats. Moose can live safely with other cats — especially other mellow cats — and many FIV+ and FIV- cats live together happily. He just needs to stay indoors, eat well, and get regular vet checkups like any cat.
If you're looking for a big, sweet, dapper companion with a lot of love to give, Moose is your guy. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com

5. Brillo

Kitten · Female · Russian Blue / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Brillo arrived at just a few days old — three and a half ounces, eyes sealed shut, umbilical cord still attached, looking exactly like the tiny grey and white scrubby pad she was named for — and she has been absolutely defying expectations ever since. What started as the most fragile thing imaginable has become the most confident, outgoing, fearless little girl in the room, and she did it entirely on her own terms and her foster’s round the clock dedication. Brillo does not know she had a rough start. She skipped that part entirely and went straight to thriving. Sweet, bold, and ready for absolutely everything, she is proof that the scruffiest, most unlikely beginnings can produce the most brilliant and beautiful results.

6. Scrubbing Bubbles

Young · Female · Siamese / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)

Scrubbing Bubbles works a little differently — she doesn’t rush in and tackle everything at once, she gets to work quietly, steadily, and before you know it the whole situation is transformed and you’re not entirely sure how it happened. This gorgeous flame point Siamese mix arrived a little uncertain about the world, and she takes her time deciding that new people are safe, which they are, and that she is loved, which she is. Once she gets there she is absolutely worth every patient moment. And here’s the thing about Scrubbing Bubbles — she’s still becoming herself. Those flame point ears and that tail are just warming up, and when the weather turns and the color comes in she is going to be breathtaking.

She loves being held, she loves company, and she will issue a small but pointed meow when she feels the situation has gone on too long without her in it, which is fair and reasonable and very Boo. He is always exploring, always investigating, rarely stopping — until Boo needs him, at which point he stops completely, because some things matter more than the next adventure. Hey Mickie, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow our mind — and she absolutely does. This stunning brown tabby girl with her exotic bengal-like spots came to us by way of Pet Community Center, where volunteers recognized that a kitten this beautiful and this full of potential deserved a chance at indoor life before anyone gave up on her. Mickie has been taking that chance seriously. She came in a little uncertain about this whole human situation, which is entirely fair given her history, and she has been quietly, steadily deciding that maybe people aren't so bad after all. She's not going to do a cheer routine for you on the first meeting — she's not that Mickie — but give her time, give her space, give her the patient and understanding home she deserves, and this girl will surprise you completely.

29. Kitten Lord Sock

Young · Male · Tuxedo / Mixed

Lord Sock is a 5-month-old tuxedo kitten who takes his name very seriously. He arrives fully dressed in a crisp black coat, white chest, and four little white socks — as if he got ready for a gala and then decided to run around the house instead.
At 5 months, he's all kitten: playful, bouncy, hilarious, and wildly curious. He loves wand toys, crinkle balls, wrestling with his friends, and then collapsing for a long, dramatic nap in a sunbeam.
Lord Sock is sweet, people-oriented, and chatty. He will follow you for pets, supervise your work, and graciously allow you to share his couch. He uses his litter box perfectly, loves to be held like a baby (for exactly 37 seconds before he has to go play again), and has a purr you can hear from across the room.
He would love a home with lots of playtime and maybe another friendly cat or gentle dog to keep up with his royal shenanigans.

30. Kitten Stella

Young · Female · Tortoiseshell / Mixed

Meet Stella!
Stella is a 5-month-old tortoiseshell kitten and she is absolutely stunning in person. Her coat is a beautiful mosaic of black, caramel, and copper — no two patches the same — and her amber eyes miss nothing.
True to tortie form, Stella has opinions and she loves to share them. She's confident, clever, and affectionate on her own terms. One minute she's an acrobat chasing a feather toy mid-air, the next she's curled in your lap purring like a little motorboat.
Stella is bright, playful, and very people-oriented. She loves to talk, especially when it's dinner time or when she has decided you haven't petted her enough.

She's litter-box perfect, loves sunbeams and window watching, and will make you laugh every single day.
She would thrive in a home that appreciates a kitty with character — someone who wants a best friend, not just a decoration. If you've never had a tortie before, Stella will show you why tortie lovers never go back.

Adopting a cat in Rutherford County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
