1. Isabella
Adult · Female · Siamese · 91 mi from South Hill

Hi there! My name is Isabella. My human dad is moving and can't take me with him, SCC offered to help me find me home. So, let me tell you about myself. I am about 2 years old and a playful girl. Transitions can be bumpy sometimes, so while I might be timid at first, your patience will be rewarded with lots of love! I love to be petted but I will tell you, I have been known to give warning bites, not hard, but would be better with older kids that understand cat signs. I like to play, especially with those wand toys! I have my favorites. Those (and treats) are always great for bonding. I love being close to my person.

I have been known to nibble on toes and am a great lap companion. I don't have any dog experience, well, or cat experience for that matter. You really only need one cat anyway, right? I have lived an indoor life and that suits me just fine. I am current on vaccines and microchipped and I am very good with my litter box.

Hi there! My name is Giavanna. I am a very sweet torbi girl that really could use some help! You see, my human mom has one of those job things and really works a lot. I mean A LOT!! She really loves me and feels bad because I don't get the cuddle time that we four-legged fur babies want. She really wants me to be happy, so she has asked SCC to see if they can help me find a home. So, let me tell you about myself. I am about 4 years old. I might be a bit timid at first, but once I am comfortable, I am a very playful girl. I do like kids, and would do well with them, especially if they want to play, but I don't live with any right now.

I do ok with cats, so it might be nice to have a cat buddy if you have one of those job things. Of course, slow introductions are always good. I don't have any dog experience, so we can skip that. I have been an indoor only girl and that suits me just fine. I will be brought current on my RCP vaccine and microchipped as a part of the adoption process. Oh, and I am very good with my litter box

While he prefers to keep physical affection on his own terms, he's happy to be part of the action and close to his family.Neither Fiona nor Hamish are lap cats, but they show their affection in quieter ways. They'll join you on the bed at night, curl up nearby on the couch, and keep you company throughout the day. They're the perfect companions for someone who appreciates cats being close without demanding constant attention.Like many cats, they have a special talent for turning ordinary cardboard boxes and small spaces into luxury accommodations. If there's a box in the house, you can bet one of them will claim it.Most importantly, Fiona and Hamish are deeply devoted to each other. Their bond is heartwarming to watch, and they're hoping to find a family willing to welcome both of them into their home.If you're looking for a pair of easygoing companions who will fill your home with quiet affection, occasional zoomies, and twice the charm, Fiona and Hamish may be your perfect match. ❤️If you are interested in meeting this lovely pair of cats please email adoption@columbiahumane.orgFor more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.org

7. Becky
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Siamese / Mixed · 91 mi from South Hill

Hi, my name is Becky and I could really use your help. You see, I lost my person not long ago and a family friend has taken me in to help me find a new forever home. It's been quite a change for me, but I am adjusting to the changes. My new foster mom said, she would keep me in a NY minute, but there are other cats in the home, and, they have not been nearly as welcoming. She knows that I would be a happier girl If I could be the center of the universe in a quiet home environment and a person of my own that is home more. So, about me, I am about 3 years old, I might be a bit timid at first, but once I am comfortable, I would be a great companion.

Adopting a cat with children in South Hill
Bring the whole family to meet the cat before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the cat behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the cat come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the cat alone while it's eating, sleeping or using the litter box. Give the cat a high or quiet spot to retreat to.
Relaxed adult cats are often a better match for young children than kittens, which scratch and nip while they play.
