Read more about Phoebe
Physical Description
Phoebe has white colored feet which makes her look like she is wearing UGG boots everyday :) Her white fur is also on her belly and goes up to her neck and all the way to the bottom of her mouth. She loves belly and chin scratches! She has a very soft coat of fur and is made of mostly greyish/brown with black stripes. It looks very cool!
Personality
Phoebe has a great personality and loves to play with dogs when she gets to know them. She grew up with another cat before we adopted her and was buddies with that cat as well. She is a little on the small side for a domestic short hair cat. She has "white boots" on all 4 paws with a white belly and chest, all the way up her neck and under her mouth. She loves belly rubs, sleeping under a blanket (sometimes at your feet) and she loves to snuggle in between your legs for warmth. She is a talker when she sees it is feeding time!!! You will hear her cute little squeak of a meow, and I have taught her to sit. She has now started to stand on her hind legs and paw at her food. Sometimes she will paw gently at your leg, telling you to put her food down :) Phoebe is in great health. Her diet consists of a combination of wet and dry food. We feed her twice a day. We give her one plastic spoonful of wet food and 1/3 cup of dry food.

13. Yogi
Young · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) · 48 mi from Sacramento

When Yogi isn’t zooming around the house playing with his brother, he wants nothing more than to curl up on your chest and snuggle into your neck. He instantly loves everyone he meets. This boy craves constant human affection and will do anything to be involved in everything. That includes climbing people like trees! Because of this we have put nail caps on him. He knows now that he can’t climb people but he still likes to paw at our legs for attention. It’s very cute. He’s also very easy to put nail caps on, he just loves the attention. He should eventually grow out of the climbing though and no longer need the nail caps.
Read more about Yogi
Because of his clinginess he would love a home where his person is either retired or works at home. However, if he were adopted with his brother Boo Boo, he would likely be ok with being alone during the day. He’s great around other cats and would likely do very well with children and dogs. He’s confident and curious and has very little fear of anything. Whoever adopts this precious little guy is incredibly lucky!

14. Boo Boo
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from Sacramento

Boo Boo is a quiet little guy but don’t let that fool you. He’s extremely friendly, curious, and outgoing. He’s obsessed with wand toys and can hear one being played with from anywhere in the house. He’s also fascinated by the vacuum and very curious about the dishwasher. He’s the kind of cat that tries to climb into everything. He’s very silly. He likes to cuddle on the couch or in bed, and when you pick him up he melts right into your arms. He loves wrestling with his brother and chasing his foster cat sisters around the house. He would really love being adopted with his brother. At the very least he needs one or two other cat companions.
Read more about Boo Boo
Boo Boo has FHV (feline herpes virus) which is very common among cats and not something that will affect his long term health. Stress or illness, especially when cats are young, can cause flare ups that result in cold like symptoms. They usually resolve in a week or two but for some cats like Boo Boo they can last longer. Boo Boo’s only lingering symptom is a weepy eye, but we are hopeful that once he settles into his forever home it will eventually go away. For some cats it can take many months to dry up. But not to worry, Boo Boo is very good about having his eye cleaned. In fact, he doesn’t have any bad habits that we’ve seen, he’s really just a very sweet, playful, and well mannered boy. He gets along very well with other cats and would likely do well with dogs and children too. Though the stress of a more active household might make his weepy eye take longer to resolve.

Meet Nutmeg — The Fluffy Little Baby Who Will Steal Your Heart!
Some kittens are just born to be loved, and Nutmeg is one of those extra-special little souls who will melt your heart the moment you meet her! ❤️
At just 9 weeks old, this adorable black-and-white fluffy sweetheart is everything you could ever wish for in a kitten. She’s playful, affectionate, social, and full of that irresistible kitten magic!
Her foster family affectionately calls her “The Baby,” and once you meet her, you’ll understand exactly why!
Every morning, Nutmeg has the sweetest little routine. From her indoor catio, she calls out to her foster family, letting them know she’s awake and ready for her morning love! The moment someone scoops her into their arms, her tiny motor starts running, filling the room with the most precious, rumbly purrs.
Read more about Nutmeg Napa
It’s her special way of saying, “I missed you! Now please love me!” ❤️
And trust us, Nutmeg takes cuddling VERY seriously!
But don’t let all that sweetness fool you! This little girl is ALL kitten! She’s a toy-chasing, adventure-loving, playful bundle of fluff who believes every day should be filled with fun, snuggles, and more fun!
A Little Social Butterfly!
Nutmeg absolutely LOVES other cats! She has already lived with two different pairs of foster kitties and has happily made friends along the way. She doesn’t seem to know a stranger, whether they’re human or feline!
Her foster home includes two children, a mom, and a dad, so she’s growing up surrounded by family life, love, and lots of attention.
We think Nutmeg would be absolutely delighted to have a kitty friend to play and cuddle with. But she could also be your one-and-only fur baby, happily soaking up all your affection and becoming your very best friend.
What makes Nutmeg so special?
It’s her gentle little soul. Her trusting nature. Her joyful spirit. The way she calls for her people in the morning and melts into their arms with that happy little purr.
She’s not just looking for a home. She’s looking for someone to love with her whole tiny heart.
And somewhere out there is a lucky family who doesn’t even realize yet that a little girl named Nutmeg is about to become the best part of their day. ❤️
Nutmeg is ready to find her forever family!

Meet Jack! He's a 5 month old kitten who is extremely shy around new people. He's been very good about vocalizing his boundaries, but the shelter environment is pretty stressful for him. His foster has reported that he gets along with other cats and dogs. He tolerates being held, but he LOVES cheek and neck scratches. He's very playful and food motivated, but would prefer a quieter home as he's still startles easily even with people he knows.

24. Mrs Karen Patricia Green
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Bengal / Mixed (short coat) · 46 mi from Sacramento

Meet Mrs. Karen Patricia Green
Mrs. Karen Patricia Green is approximately 5 years old, 7 pounds, and a beautiful tabby with striking emerald-green eyes.
We named her Karen because, frankly, she looks like one.
She has the face of a woman who would like to speak to your manager, but underneath that judgmental little expression is a quiet, increasingly affectionate cat who is learning to trust more every day.
Karen spent her entire first day in foster care hiding. Since then, she has made steady progress and now follows her foster around the house—especially when food is involved. In fact, if Karen thinks dinner might be happening, she has a habit of repeatedly weaving directly in front of your feet, so consider this your official trip-hazard warning.
She is quiet, observant, and not especially demanding.
Read more about Mrs Karen Patricia Green
She enjoys short petting sessions and is beginning to seek out more attention, although she is not yet comfortable being picked up or sitting on a lap. We are continuing to work on that at her pace.
Karen uses the litter box reliably, eats well, and is unfazed by the resident cat’s occasional growling. She will hop onto tables or counters, but she gets down when corrected.
She is not a wildly playful cat, at least not during business hours. She has been seen chasing a ball around the room, loves a string-on-a-stick toy, and we suspect some of her more adventurous behavior happens after everyone else has gone to bed.
More recently, Karen has started spending time watching the world through the sliding glass doors, taking in all the neighborhood activity like the tiny judgmental homeowner she clearly believes herself to be.
Karen would likely do best in a calmer home with someone who is willing to let her continue building trust at her own pace. She is not a cat who wants to be scooped up and immediately smothered with affection, but she is absolutely showing us that she wants companionship and connection.
If you appreciate cats with boundaries, personality, excellent resting-bitch-face energy, and the potential to become a very loyal little shadow, Mrs. Karen Patricia Green may be your girl.
Please email beourpet@gmail.com with questions or to learn more about Karen.

26. Rachel
Kitten · Female · Tabby (short coat) · 44 mi from Sacramento

Meet Rachel — A Little Orange Ray of Sunshine Looking for Her Forever Home
Some kittens are cute. Some are sweet. And then there’s Rachel — a gorgeous little orange tabby who somehow manages to be both, with enough personality to completely steal your heart.
At just 12–14 weeks old, Rachel is the perfect blend of playful kitten energy and melt-in-your-arms sweetness. Give her a toy and she’s all in — chasing, tumbling, pouncing, and having the time of her life with her siblings.
But the very best part comes when playtime is over. Scoop Rachel into your arms and her little purr motor starts instantly, as if she’s saying, “Yes…this is exactly where I belong.” She absolutely loves being held, cuddled, and showered with affection.
Rachel is wonderfully social and would love having another friendly kitty by her side.
Read more about Rachel
She is also well-socialized with older respectful children, small dogs, and other cats. She’s playful. She’s affectionate. She’s absolutely precious. And she’s waiting for the family who will love her forever. Maybe Rachel’s forever story starts with you.

27. Kodiak
Kitten · Male · Tabby (short coat) · 44 mi from Sacramento

Kodiak is a darling playful and snuggly 5 month old! He’s best friends with all the kitties and dogs at his foster home and has even won over the resident cranky resident cats who let him groom them (and he’s the only one who can)! He turns anything into a play toy and his current favorite toy is a plastic ladle from Panera. He’s a talker and has a great meow when he wants to be pet or when he sees a fly to annihilate. He loves all living things and will snuggle with the kitties, the dogs and on his foster’s lap or curled up next to her. He’d be a perfect starter kitty with his happy-go-lucky lifestyle or with any aficionado of kitties.
Read more about Kodiak
He’s not a fan of being picked up, like most kitties, but will gift you a minute. For that, we think he’d be best with kids who are old enough to know kitty behaviors and listen. He’s a loooong kitten and naturally lean. He‘s looking like he might be one of those long, lanky kitties…but come nap time, he’ll curl up in a tight ball, right in your lap! Oh, and if you call for him, he will trill back to you and come over for pets!

30. Shakibby
Adult · Male · Domestic Long Hair / Maine Coon (long coat) · 44 mi from Sacramento

Meet Shakibby — Your Mellow Little Bobtailed Sidekick ❤️
Shakibby is the kind of cat who brings a quiet, gentle presence into a home. He’s sweet, easygoing, and happiest simply being near his people.
And you can’t meet Shakibby without noticing one of his most adorable features — his darling little short bobtail! He often carries it curled right over his back, giving him a look that is completely his own. Pair that cute little curl with his gorgeous, plush medium-to-long coat, and he is one seriously handsome boy. His fur is incredibly soft — the kind you just want to keep running your hands through.
He’s not your typical lap cat or constant cuddler — Shakibby shows his affection in his own soft, special way.
Read more about Shakibby
He’ll nap nearby while you work, making him the perfect coworker for anyone working from home. During quiet evenings, he may settle beside you on the couch, gently lean against you, and reward you with the sweetest little purr.
Walk over to say hello while he’s lounging and you’ll almost always be greeted with that same loving purr. He has also been wonderfully gentle with the family’s 4-year-old and is comfortable when visitors come over — no disappearing under the bed when company arrives!
Don’t let his mellow personality fool you, though. Bring out the wand toy and Shakibby is ready to PLAY! He also enjoys putting on his leash and taking a little stroll around the backyard for some supervised outdoor time. The best part? He’s not demanding about either. If you’re busy, he’s perfectly content to relax nearby and keep you company.
Shakibby does not enjoy living with other cats, so he is looking for a home where he can be your one and only feline companion. In return, you’ll get a gentle, independent, sweet-natured boy with velvety-soft fur, that unforgettable little curled bobtail, and a peaceful presence that makes him so easy to love. ❤️
COURTESY POSTING: Shakibby is not currently in our rescue. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out an adoption application and submit it to us. Once approved, we will forward your application to Shakibby’s owner, who will handle the next steps.
Sometimes the best companions aren’t the ones who demand your attention — they’re the ones quietly purring beside you, with an adorable little bobtail curled over their back. ❤️

Adopting a cat in Sacramento
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
