1. Bella
Adult (5 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Calico / Mixed (medium coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Bella. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and brought to SBACC. It was obvious that I was very pregnant, and I delivered six kittens in my foster home the very next day. Sadly, one of them did not survive, but the other five have grown into happy, healthy kittens and will soon be ready for their forever homes. I took very good care of my kittens, but I am now done with motherhood and ready to be loved and pampered in my own home. My foster Mom says that I am the sweetest cat you will ever meet. I am very vocal and love to chat with my people, always letting you know when I want attention. More than anything, I love curling up in your lap and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. If you are looking for a loving companion who wants to be by your side, I am the perfect lap cat and will happily keep you company every chance I get.

2. Kitten Latte
Kitten (3 months 23 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Latte. I was eight weeks old when an SBACC volunteer rescued me from the wheel well of a car. After coming to SBACC I went to a foster home with another orphaned kitten. I am a shy but affectionate boy. I will hide when I’m feeling insecure. Once I warm up to my environment I become a sweet and affectionate kitty. I like to play and would love to cuddle up next to you and I purr when I am happy. I never scratch or bite and I am good with other cats and kids! I would do best in a quiet home and with someone with patience who will wait for me to come out of my shell and be the loving kitten that I am.

3. Lenore Dove
Adult (5 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Lenore Dove, and I am a survivor. I had been abused, but luckily I was rescued and brought to SBACC. Someone who feeds feral cats found me. I had been dumped in a colony of ferals, and she knew I was in bad shape and did not belong there. I had a severely damaged eye that ruptured and had to be removed, and I had bruising on my abdomen and chest that looked like I had been kicked. I also had sores and scabs on my neck and head. I am a bit shy and timid, but I warm up quickly to quiet, gentle people. The people who care for me at SBACC say I am very sweet. I am hoping to find a home where I will be safe and loved forever and ever.

4. Henna
Adult (2 years 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tuxedo / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Henna. I was rescued from an abandoned property along with my two kittens. They went to a foster home, but I stayed at SBACC. I was not in very good shape. I had a severely damaged eye that had to be removed, and I have a significant head tilt. Some specialists have checked it out, and they think it’s due to an ear infection and some inner ear issues. It might be with me forever. Despite this, I am a very friendly girl and a ball of energy. I am hoping for a forever home, and I would probably do best as an only cat.

5. Kitten Elody
Kitten (3 months 18 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Elody. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was about 5-6 weeks old. I had a URI and an eye infection, and my URI turned out to be pneumonia. After lots of antibiotics, both are gone now. One eye is fine, but the other is cloudy and probably always will be. That does not slow me down, and I love to run around and play. I am shy with new people but will become a lovebug once I warm up. I liked the older cats in my foster home and would love a quiet home with another cat. I could be an only kitty, but only if I get lots of love and attention

6. Kitten Popplio
Kitten (3 months 13 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Popplio. My two sibs and I were rescued from an overcrowded shelter when we were six weeks old. We came to SBACC and then went to a foster home. I am the shyest of my sibs and slow to warm up to new people. However, once I know I can trust you, I will be by your side, purring. Loud noises and fast movements scare me, but I will come running to play with a wand toy. I love to chase and play with my brothers and with all kinds of toys. This is what my foster Mom says about me. “She makes the cutest little coos when she is happily playing, and she is a little character who knows what she loves and when she wants attention.

She will even meow if she wants extra attention or tilt her head to be extra cute for you!” I would do best in a calm, quiet home, with another kitten or young cat for company. I will need lots of attention and playtime with my humans. My brothers and I are in one pic together.

7. Kitten Pumpkaboo
Kitten (3 months 13 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Pumpkaboo. My two sibs and I were rescued from an overcrowded shelter when we were six weeks old. We came to SBACC and then went to a foster home. My foster Mom says I look just like the starry sky with my rich black fur flecked with sparkling silver stars. I love being carried around like a baby or riding on your shoulder, and I will always quietly come to you for love. I do not like competing for attention, but I would love to be the center of your world. I will wake you with kisses and pull you in for face nuzzles. I love chasing balls, wand toys, feathers, streamers, or even your sandals! I am a super-active cuddlebug and ready for my forever home. I could be an only kitten if I get lots of attention and playtime with my humans, but it would be much more fun to go home with one of my sibs or with another kitten or young cat. All three of us are in one pic.

9. Kitten Udon
Kitten (4 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

Hi, my name is Udon. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was three months old. One of my front paws was injured. X-rays did not show any breaks, and the vet said it might be nerve damage, so I went to a neurologist. He said it was definitely nerve damage and that maybe I had been hit by a car. He said there was no treatment for it, that physical therapy might or might not help, and that it is best that I not jump from high places or play too rough. I spent some time in a foster home, and I got around just fine; my paw hasn't slowed me down or stopped me from climbing and batting toys around.

My foster Mom says I am incredibly friendly, very playful, curious, and sweet. I love attention and will purr as soon as you pick me up. I even understood the boundaries and was respectful of the 19-year-old cat in my foster home. My foster Mom says I would do best with another kitten or young cat in my forever home because I really need a furry friend and playmate.

10. Axel
Kitten · Male · Tuxedo / Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) · 14 mi from Long Beach

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Axel is a sweet, affectionate boy with a playful streak and a serious appreciation for lap time.
He originally turned up at a tow yard in Hawthorne, where employees caring for a local feral cat colony quickly realized this handsome newcomer was anything but feral. Friendly from the start, Axel happily accepted attention and even made air biscuits while being held.
That easygoing personality has continued to shine. Axel loves people and is comfortable meeting strangers, both men and women. He is a complete cuddle bug who enjoys curling up in a lap, but he is equally enthusiastic when it is time to play.
Read more about Axel
Anything that moves has the potential to become an Axel-approved toy.
He is also bright, food motivated, and very trainable. In foster care, Axel quickly learned that counters were off limits and even cooperated for a little nail trim. He can occasionally be tempted to chew on paper, so important documents may want to keep their distance.
Axel also spent about a week living with a Yorkie and did well, showing that he can coexist comfortably with a small, respectful dog.
With his affectionate personality, playful nature, and willingness to learn, Axel should make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a cat who wants to be part of everyday life

Hi, my name is Neville. My three siblings and I were rescued from a backyard when we were about five weeks old. We came to SBACC and then went to a foster home. Our foster mom says we have been a great litter of kittens. We never hid, and from the moment we arrived, we were comfortable, happy, affectionate, and playful. She can even vacuum without us freaking out. She says I am sweet, silly, and absolutely irresistible! I am always ready for love and attention, and I purr all the time to show you how happy I am. I am not shy at all and love meeting new people. I am now ready for my forever home, and if I get lots of attention, I could be an only kitten, but it would be much more fun to go home with one of my sibs or another kitten or young cat.

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Munji is a handsome, confident boy with a big personality, an impressive floofy tail, and plenty to say.
He was found roaming a neighborhood and quickly made it clear that life with people is very familiar to him. He is affectionate, adaptable, talkative, and completely comfortable making himself at home.

He’s more likely to chase it than run away from it.
He enjoys being near his people and likes to keep tabs on whatever is happening around the house. He’ll follow you from room to room and happily soak up attention.
Munji has a playful side and can get a little mouthy at times, but his bites have been gentle and he redirects well to toys. A little playtime goes a long way with this curious, social boy.
If you’re looking for a cat who wants to be part of your day without needing to be in your lap every minute, Munji may be your guy

20. Savanah
Young (8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 5 mi from Long Beach

On Mother’s Day, Savannah was found on the front stoop of an apartment scared to death. Savanah had made it indoors and into an open mailbox to hide. That’s when the person who found her brought her home.
Read more about Savanah
The first two weeks, Savanah hid in the closet and under her bed. Since then, she has been spending more and more time in the living room with rescuer, the other cats, and a frenchie. She no longer hides! She’s NOT needy at all, doesn’t demand attention, and finally enjoys being pet and purrs easily. She cuddles up on the bed whenever she gets a chance. She’s a very sweet soul! No behavior concerns and is low/mid energy. She spends her time birdwatching from the windowsill. With just a bit of patience and love, she should warm up to any calm and loving home in no time.
This is a courtesy post for Savannah's finder. Please fill out an application if you are interested in adopting her and it will be sent to the finder so she can contact you.

Hi, my name is Quyen. I was all alone and about six weeks old when a dog chased me up a cactus tree. Luckily, someone rescued me and brought me to SBACC, and then I went to a foster home. After about a month, another kitten named Harriet arrived at my foster home, and we became friends and had fun playing together. I may take a while to get comfortable with a new person, but once I get to know you, I will be your companion and will curl up next to you, but probably not in your lap. I slept next to my foster Mom. She says I am very intelligent. I love games and toys. I am a kitten who loves being with another cat, so I really need a home with another kitten or young cat for company.

When all worn out from playing, I can become a cuddly lap cat. I am ready for my forever home, and my foster Mom says anyone would be lucky to have a spunky guy like me! 24. Simba
Adult · Male · Snowshoe / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 14 mi from Long Beach

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Simba is a handsome, friendly boy with a confident personality and an independent streak.
He enjoys people and is absolutely social, but he does not need constant attention to feel secure. Simba is the kind of cat who appreciates companionship while also enjoying his own space and routine. He may be a great fit for someone who wants a friendly adult cat who is not attached at the hip.
In foster care, Simba has shown that he may prefer a calmer environment with fewer cats. He has been living in a busy foster home with multiple feline roommates and has handled many changes, but we think a quieter home may help him truly settle into his best self.
Simba and Alfie spend time together and could be considered as a pair, but Simba may also do well as a single cat with the right person.
Simba is currently being monitored for a stress-related urinary issue.

Peter Zippi is working with our veterinary team and trying a low-dose medication plan to support him for now. It is very possible his needs may change once he is in a calmer home with fewer cats.
Friendly, confident, and quietly independent, Simba is ready for someone who will appreciate him for exactly who he is

Adult · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 14 mi from Long Beach

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Alfie is a handsome, social boy with a curious spirit and plenty to say.
His foster describes him as wonderfully chatty, almost like you can have a conversation with him when he is in curious, exploratory mode. Alfie likes being near his people and being part of what is happening, but he is not overly demanding. He has a nice balance of social confidence and independence.
Alfie enjoys exploring, observing, and adding his own commentary along the way. He is the kind of cat who brings personality into a home without needing to be the center of attention every minute.
He has spent time with other cats and may do well with a compatible feline friend.
Read more about Alfie
He and Simba have also shown a nice connection and could be considered together, though Alfie is not dependent on another cat and may also do well as an individual companion.
Curious, conversational, and easy to enjoy, Alfie is a wonderful adult cat for someone who likes a cat with presence, charm, and a little running commentary

Adopting a cat in Long Beach
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
